第一节(满分 15 分)
Dear Peter,
How is everything going? I’m writing to celebrate World Reading Day, which falls on April 23rd. Books have been
a constant source of inspiration, guiding me through life’s challenges, and now I’d love to share my latest read with you.
Recently, I have finished “The Little Prince”, a classic tale about friendship and human nature. What impressed me
most was the line, “What is essential is invisible to the eye.” It inspired me to reflect on life’s true values. I highly
recommend it!
By the way, have you read any meaningful books lately? I’m eager to hear your thoughts. Let’s exchange more
book recommendations! Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua
第二节(满分 25 分)
Version 1:
So did my dad, the only administrator! Instantly, that familiar feeling of embarrassment washed over me, and
as usual, I fled the scene. But later that day, a classmate approached me, eyes wide with excitement. “Your dad is
amazing!” he exclaimed. “You should have seen his bridge design. It's so clever and sturdy.” Curiosity getting the
better of me, I decided to find my dad. I found him in his office, looking over some papers. When he saw me, he
smiled gently. “I know I might have embarrassed you today,” he said softly. “But I just wanted to be a part of
your school life, to understand what you're going through.” I was taken aback. I had never considered his
intentions before.
He’d won, and I gradually learned to appreciate something in my head. From that day on, I started to see
my dad in a new light. I noticed how hard he worked at school, not only for his job but also for me. I realized that
his quirks were just part of who he was, and they didn't make him any less of a great dad. Whenever I saw him
around school, instead of feeling embarrassed, I felt a sense of pride. Our relationship, once strained, was now
stronger than ever, built on a new foundation of understanding and respect.
Version 2:
So did my dad, the only administrator! So did my dad, the only administrator! He seemed extremely enthusiastic
about this project, spending hours in his workshop, sawing and hammering away. When the day of the competition
arrived, I was secretly praying that he wouldn’t make a fool of himself again. To my surprise, his bridge was not only
incredibly well-built but also a masterpiece of engineering. It withstood the weight test with ease, while many students’
bridges collapsed. Everyone in the school was amazed, especially me. I watched in awe as my dad explained the
scientific principles behind his creation to the applauding crowd.
1He’d won, and I gradually learned to appreciate something in my head. I realized that my dad was not just the
embarrassing figure I had thought him to be in my pre-teen and early high school years. He was intelligent, creative and
passionate about what he did. His performance in the physics project made me see him in a new light. I began to
understand that his quirks were part of his charm. From then on, I no longer felt ashamed of him. Instead, I was proud to
call him my dad. Our relationship started to mend, and we once again found common ground, both in and out of school.

Text 1
W: Dick, I heard you want to quit your job. Why do you want to give up such a high-paying job?
M: Well, I’ve really got tired of working for my boss. I think it’s time that I become my own boss.
Text 2
W: Allan, I’ll go to the supermarket to buy some apples and chocolate. There are no such things in the fridge. I’ll be back
soon.
M: Okay, go ahead. I’ll stay here and finish getting things ready for the party.
Text 3
M: What did you think of the speech?
W: I thought it was rather dry. There was nothing exciting about anything he said.
M: You’re right. I hope the next lecture will be somewhat creative.
Text 4
W: Is this your first visit?
M: No, I come here every week.
W: Oh, I see. The doctor will be with you shortly.
Text 5
W: So what will you give to Mr. Green this Christmas?
M: Have you watched the movie A Christmas Story? I really like the string lights in the movie.
W: So will you buy him a string light this year?
M: Actually I’ve already got one.
Text 6
W: Shall we go to the cinema together?
M: I’m afraid not. I will be on holiday from tomorrow on. I will first fly to New York and spend a few days with my
friend. ⑥After that, I will go to California. My cousin studies in the University of California and she will show me
around her school then.
W: That’s really nice. You do like travel, right? I remember you went to Florida and Hawaii last year.
M: Well, ⑦I did go to Florida with my brother last summer, but I haven’t been to Hawaii up to now. Maybe I will go
there next year.
Text 7
M: Hey, Carol, I hear you may get that new job.
W: Yeah, they’re going to call me. There’re still a couple of problems, though.
M: Really? What problems?
W: Well, the job is in Vancouver. My closest friend lives there, but I’m not sure I want to move. Also, the position may
be better, ⑧but the money is the same. I really don’t know what to do.
M: Well, don’t accept the offer right away. You should make a list of all the good and bad things about your new job.
You should also talk to your boss and tell her that you need a pay raise. You’ll have more work to do, after all.
W: What do you think about the move?
M: ⑨Take a trip to Vancouver. See if you like it.
Text 8
M: What happened to you? ⑩Why do you have a band aid on your finger?
2W: I hurt myself in the kitchen.
M: What happened?
W: ⑩I cut myself when I was slicing vegetables.
M: Really?
W: Yeah. I was cutting up vegetables to put in the salad for dinner while Timmy was playing with a toy on the kitchen
floor. ⑪Suddenly Timmy started crying. I looked up quickly and noticed that he burned himself on the stove. The
noise distracted me and I accidentally cut myself.
M: That’s too bad. Is Timmy OK?
W: Yeah. He’s fine now. What happened to your foot? Why are you difficult in walking?
M: I hurt myself today too. I lost my balance at work and fell down. I hurt my legs.
W: ⑫We need to be more careful. We’re a clumsy family.
Text 9
W: Jack, what was your most memorable day in the past year?
M: ⑬The most memorable day was probably when my whole class went to Golden Corral to eat buffet. It was
really fun and everyone stuffed their faces in food. Everyone had a good time.
W: What food did you like best there?
M: The cheesecake desserts covered with strawberries and ice cream were my favorites. I had a lot of them.
W: ⑭Jack, don’t you think you eat too much ice cream? Look at you. You’ve been putting on weight fast recently.
M: I guess you’re right. ⑮I weighed about 110 pounds about half a year ago, but yesterday when I weighed again I
found my weight had reached 125 pounds. I think I really should stop eating so much ice cream. So what’s your most
unforgettable experience in the past year?
W: Well, my most memorable day was when my mom, my brother and I went to the beach.
M: What did you do there?
W: ⑯We didn’t go into the water or do anything; we just danced, took pictures, laughed and lay in the sand. You
know, my mom is usually very busy with her work. We don’t spend much quality time together as a family.
M: Now I know why it’s so unforgettable for you.
Text 10
W: Good morning, everyone. I’d like to welcome you to the new computer course. ⑳Today we’ll be going on a guided
tour of the computer department. But first, I’d like to tell you the basic facts about your course. We will have lessons
at this time on Wednesdays and Fridays, ⑰with special lectures at weekends. Sometimes, you will have some
homework to do. You are expected to come to all classes, so you will need a medical certificate or written explanation
for any days you are absent. There will be a test once a month. ⑱We will publish your marks on our website, unless
you do not accept this. In this case, we’ll send you a letter. Now, perhaps most important of all, you will probably want
free access to the computers, so that you can do your own work and prepare for tests. This is fine, ⑲but you must have
a personal identity card. The price is 20 pounds, but you can get this money back if there is no damage to the
equipment during the year. ⑳Well, it’s time for the tour now, so I’ll answer any questions you have later.
