Early on February 6, Alibaba’s AI application Qwen App officially launched its “$430 Million Lunar New Year Mega Free Order” campaign, with the first phase focusing on free milk tea and inviting users across China to order milk tea for free with a single AI sentence.

It is reported that this year’s Lunar New Year AI battle is fierce. Qwen App’s $430 million mega free order campaign represents the largest investment in a Spring Festival event in Alibaba’s history and the highest spending in this year’s Lunar New Year AI battle.

Earlier on January 15, Qwen App had already integrated with Alibaba ecosystem scenarios including Taobao Flash Sale, Alipay, Taobao, Fliggy, and Amap, launching AI shopping functions. Therefore, compared with other AI apps’ red envelope promotions, Qwen App’s approach is simpler and more direct: users receive a $3.6 free order card upon download.

The Qwen App event page shows that the first phase of the free order campaign runs from February 6 to February 12. After updating Qwen App, all users can receive a $3.6 no‑threshold free order card, which can be used not only for free milk tea but also for shopping on Taobao Flash Sale and ordering takeout.

Observers found that by tapping “Free Milk Tea” in the bottom left of Qwen App, users can see multiple nearby milk tea options covering mainstream tea and coffee brands such as Mixue Ice City, Nayuki, Luckin Coffee, Bawang Tea, Auntie Hu, Chabaidao, and Kudi Coffee. Selecting a desired drink and clicking “Use Qwen Free Order Card” redirects users to the Alipay payment page. The process is simple, but due to heavy traffic, the system may repeatedly prompt “The event is too popular, please try again later.”

有观察人士发现，用户点击通义千问 App 左下角的“免费奶茶”入口后，可以看到附近多家奶茶选项，涵盖蜜雪冰城、奈雪的茶、瑞幸咖啡、霸王茶姬、沪上阿姨、茶百道、库迪咖啡等主流品牌。选择饮品并点击“使用千问免单卡”后，即会跳转至支付宝支付页面。整个流程较为简洁，但由于访问量过大，系统可能反复提示“活动太火爆，请稍后再试”。

In addition, the campaign also features a referral mechanism: for each successful referral of a new user to download Qwen App, both parties receive a $3.6 free order card. An individual can receive up to 21 cards, with a total value of $75.6. Successfully referring three new users in one day also gives users a chance to draw a “Qwen AI Life Card” worth $1,440.

Some netizens calculated that if a family of six participates in the Qwen free order campaign, they could obtain $40 in no‑threshold free order cards in five minutes, which could be used to get 84 cups of lemon tea from Mixue Ice City for free.

有网友测算称，如果一家六口共同参与通义千问免单活动，五分钟内即可获得约 40 美元的无门槛免单额度，足以在蜜雪冰城免费兑换 84 杯柠檬茶。

According to the latest data, within less than three hours of launching, Qwen App had already delivered over one million milk tea orders. The event page shows that the second phase of the $430 million mega free order campaign will start on February 13, during which users can receive cash red envelopes worth up to $416.
