We started a buddy system in our school last year. “Buddy” is another word for “friend”, but buddies don’t become best friends with the students they work with only. Their role isn’t to tell them what to do or how they should do something. It’s just to be there to help when they’re needed. I first started being a buddy to Matt when I got back to school after the summer holidays. I didn’t really know Matt before that, although he’s in my class, because he was very quiet and he didn’t really fit in with me and my friends. I didn’t know much about autism before I knew Matt, but he explained that he gets quite nervous if he’s surrounded by people the whole time. He’s OK chatting to people in small groups, but if there’s a big activity going on, like a game of football, he finds it difficult for him to join in. I think Matt felt worried that he wouldn’t be able to make friends because people would think he was strange. I’ve helped him get over that, I think, and he’s now much more relaxed about talking to different people and making friends. He even joins us playing football sometimes. If he gets a bit better, I think he’ll get into the school team! I’ve got a lot out of the whole experience of being a friend. Before, I was only keen on football and computer games, and I thought that anyone who didn’t do those things was just boring. Matt has shown me that we don’t all have to be the same–it’s fine to just be who you are. D. $QR);$%&qrstde3401uvw>_2qr0QR567089:;x yz=>{@9ABC,-DE&uv'0 J67KLMN3OYZ[\]^$_7`)67opYMN5OP W: Hey, Max! M: Hi, Angela! Are these your photos from Go Wild? W: Yes, it was amazing. That’s the sunset on the second day, Tuesday. We made a fire and told frightening stories when it was completely dark! M: Cool. Did you really sleep outside? W: Yes. We all wanted to listen to and watch the wildlife in the forest at night so we slept outside on the third day. But I didn’t hear a thing. I slept so well. M: Ugh, it looks freezing. W: Yes, it was really cold at night but at least it wasn’t raining. On Thursday night, there weren’t any clouds and we watched the stars. It was awesome. M: And were there lots of spiders? W: No, I think it was too cold for them. Honestly, Max, it was so good to do something different every day. On Friday we walked up a path into the mountain to look for wild animals. Then we ate near a waterfall. M: Did you see any bears?W: No, don’t be stupid ..., but we found a cave where hundreds of bats were living. M: Ah, now that sounds fun. I like bats. W: It was. But the best day was the last day. We discovered unusual plants in the forest that you can use for medicine. M: Great ... Er, have you got something for a headache? 0123?@AB'CD!EFGH;I2022 学年度第二学期初三练习卷 英 语 学 科 答案 I. A. 1. D 2. B 3.
