My Experience of Learning English

The journey of learning English has never been smooth, so I'd like to share my experience with you.

At first, listening was my biggest challenge. I could hardly catch what native speakers said, and I often felt lost in class. To deal with it, I started listening to English songs and short stories every morning, and I imitated the speakers sentence by sentence. I also kept a word notebook and reviewed it before going to bed, just like spaced repetition.

Now I can understand most of what I hear and speak with more confidence. This experience has taught me that progress comes from small daily efforts rather than sudden miracles.

ABOUT ONLINE SAFETY

A

How to Stay Safe from Online Scams(骗局)

Online scams are becoming a serious problem in our daily life. Both students and parents need to be careful to keep their money and personal information safe, so the following tips may help.

Tips for you

Don't click on unfamiliar links or scan unknown QR codes(二维码).

Never share your screen or personal information with strangers.

If someone asks you for money online, tell your parents or teachers as soon as possible. Don't try to deal with it alone or keep a secret.

Tips for parents

Keep payment passwords private and do not share them with your children.

Know which games and social media platforms your children use. Check their spending from time to time.

Download the National Anti-Fraud(反诈)Center app and turn on scam-call alerts(警报).

21. What should you do if a stranger asks you for money online?

A. Keep it a secret from others.

B. Go to your parents for help.

C. Reply to the stranger politely.

22. What are parents advised to do according to the tips?

A. Talk with their children about online safety frequently.

B. Stop their children from using social media platforms.

C. Keep an eye on their children's spending now and then.

23. What is the main purpose of this text?

A. To teach families how to stay safe from online scams.

B. To ask parents to spend more time with their children.

C. To remind children of the danger of online games.

【解析】定位 Tips for you 第三条:If someone asks you for money online, tell your parents or teachers as soon as possible.(有人在网上向你要钱,要尽快告诉父母或老师)以及 Don't try to deal with it alone or keep a secret.(不要独自处理,也不要保密)。

Know which games and social media platforms your children use. Check their spending from time to time.(了解孩子使用哪些游戏和社交平台,时不时查看他们的花销)。C 项 Keep an eye on their children's spending now and then 正是 check their spending from time to time 的同义改写(keep an eye on = 留意,now and then = from time to time)。

How to Stay Safe from Online Scams Online scams are becoming a serious problem in our daily life... so the following tips may help.,全文列举“给孩子的建议”和“给家长的建议”两条线索,目的就是教家庭防范网络诈骗。

THE TAKEOUT POET

China's “Takeout Poet” wins the Lu Xun Literature Prize

In Man in a Hurry, one of his best-known poems, Wang Jibing paints a lively picture of his busy life as a food delivery worker. Though he is always busy with work, this 56-year-old from Jiangsu has never lost his love for reading and writing.

Reading became his favorite hobby when he was a teenager. He would read on his way to school. At 19, he left home and worked as a woodworker. After a long day of work, he loved reading at a secondhand bookstall(书报摊). Once, he got so focused on a book that he lost track of time. By the time he returned to his dormitory(宿舍), it was so late that he had to climb through a window to get inside.

“Reading is the best way to calm one's heart,” he said. “It is like dew(露水)falling at night, washing off the stress of the day and giving me strength for another day's work.”

As he read more books, Wang began to write his own pieces. Over the years, he worked many jobs, including construction(建筑)work and waste collection. However, he never put down his pen. He wrote during short breaks at work, on used cardboard boxes and even on the clothes he was wearing.

In 2018, Wang began delivering food. As a “man in a hurry”, he usually records lines as voice notes on his phone and organizes them after work. The lines record emotional moments from his busy job, his deep love for his family and his thoughts about life.

After winning the Lu Xun Literature Prize, Wang said he would continue to work as a food delivery worker. “Life and work are the ground beneath(在下方)me, and writing is the river flowing upon it. Only by treasuring this ground can I keep the river flowing beautifully,” he said.

24. Why did Wang Jibing have to climb through a window to get into his dormitory?

A. Because he got lost in the book.

B. Because the key was left at the bookstall.

C. Because he was busy writing poems.

25. How does Wang Jibing usually record his ideas while delivering food?

A. By making voice notes on his phone.

B. By writing them down in a notebook.

C. By writing them on used cardboard boxes.

26. Which of the following words best describes Wang Jibing?

A. Confident. B. Humorous.        C. Hard-working.

27. In which part of a newspaper can people read the text?

A. Sports World. B. Reading Power.        C. Science Study.

Once, he got so focused on a book that he lost track of time. By the time he returned to his dormitory, it was so late that he had to climb through a window to get inside.(他看书太专注而忘了时间,回到宿舍时已经很晚,只能翻窗进去)。

As a "man in a hurry", he usually records lines as voice notes on his phone and organizes them after work.

【解析】由多处细节归纳:though he is always busy with work, he has never lost his love for reading;he never put down his pen;he wrote during short breaks at work, on used cardboard boxes and even on the clothes he was wearing。 A 项 Confident(自信)文中无据;B 项 Humorous(幽默)也不符合作者客观叙述的语气。

A 项 Sports World 属体育、C 项 Science Study 属科学,均与主题无关。

A QUIET WORLD, A HIDDEN RISK

Noise-canceling headphones(降噪耳机)bring you a quiet world, but using them for too long might be bad for your brain, according to The New York Post.

Doctors from the UK's National Health Service (NHS) have seen more young people having “ear problems”. These problems include having trouble understanding speech or needing subtitles(字幕)to watch videos. However, their ears are healthy. It's their brains that are affected. This problem is known as auditory processing disorder (APD,听觉处理障碍). People with APD can hear sounds but find it hard to understand them.

“For our hearing to work well, our brains need to choose which sounds to focus on and which to ignore(忽略). We get the skill when we hear different sounds. If we don't hear different kinds of sounds, we can lose this skill,” said NHS doctors. Noise-canceling headphones take away these different sounds, which might be part of the problem.

Claire Benton from the British Academy of Audiology said that wearing these headphones creates a “false” environment where you only hear what you want. This makes it easier for your brain, so it doesn't have to work as hard.

Noise travels in waves through air and water. Noise-canceling headphones stop these waves in two ways: One is to use things like special ear cups. The other is to use a microphone(麦克风)to cancel out noise with opposite sound waves.

This technology can be harmful if you use it too much. However, it is still helpful for people working in noisy places.

28. What problem do people with APD have?

A. They are unable to hear loud sounds.

B. They have difficulty understanding sounds.

C. They have trouble reading the subtitles in videos.

29. Why might noise-canceling headphones be bad for your brain?

A. They stop you from hearing different sounds.

B. They give out unhealthy waves from the microphone.

C. They change the direction of important sound waves.

30. What does Paragraph 5 mainly talk about?

A. Why headphones have ear cups.

B. How noise travels through air.

C. How noise-canceling headphones work.

31. What is the best title for the text?

A. A Good Helper for a Quiet Life

B. A Must-Have for Music Lovers

C. A Quiet World, a Hidden Risk

People with APD can hear sounds but find it hard to understand them.(APD 患者能听见声音,但很难听懂)。 A 项“听不到响亮的声音”与 can hear sounds 矛盾;C 项“难以阅读视频字幕”曲解原文 needing subtitles to watch videos(需要字幕才能看懂视频),是“需要字幕”,不是“看不懂字幕”。

【解析】定位第三段:our brains need to choose which sounds to focus on and which to ignore. We get the skill when we hear different sounds... Noise-canceling headphones take away these different sounds, which might be part of the problem.

【解析】文章既写降噪耳机带来的“安静世界”(quiet world),又用大量篇幅写它可能带来的隐患(bad for your brain, a hidden risk),C 项 A Quiet World, a Hidden Risk

HILLS OF BEAUTY

Hills of Beauty

Have you ever seen pictures of ancient ruins(遗址)or very old buildings? What did they look like? How did you feel when you saw them?

The Sacred Valley of the Incas(印加圣谷)is a beautiful place in Peru, South America. __32__ That city was once the capital of the Inca Empire(印加帝国). The valley is famous for its history and culture.

The Sacred Valley was important to the Incas. They used the land for farming because the soil was rich and the climate was good. __33__ Today, you can still see the terraces(梯田). They are like steps on the mountainsides. They look so amazing that people can't keep their eyes off them.

__34__ Many people there still speak Quechua, the language of the Incas. There are also many markets. People sell colorful textiles(纺织品)there. Local people celebrate many cultural festivals all year. Visitors can learn about the Inca way of life and watch traditional dances and listen to traditional music.

The landscapes in the Sacred Valley are breathtaking. There are green fields, rivers and ancient ruins. __35__ They come to hike, explore and enjoy nature.

The Sacred Valley is really special and serves as a bridge connecting the past and present.

A. The valley's beauty attracts many tourists.

B. It lies in the Andes Mountains, close to Cusco.

C. The valley is famous for its delicious local food.

D. The culture in the Sacred Valley is rich and still alive.

E. The Incas grew many crops there, like corn and potatoes.

That city was once the capital of the Inca Empire.(那座城市曾是印加帝国的首都)。 It lies in the Andes Mountains, close to Cusco 中的 Cusco 正是“那座城市”。A、C、D、E 均未出现城市名,无法被 That city 指代——做七选五,看到 that/this/it 等指代词,先回上文找被指代的名词。

The Sacred Valley was important to the Incas. They used the land for farming because the soil was rich and the climate was good.(他们把这片土地用于农耕,因为土壤肥沃、气候宜人);空后又讲今天仍能看到梯田。E 项 The Incas grew many crops there, like corn and potatoes.(印加人在那种植玉米、土豆等作物)正好承接“农耕”,并与“梯田”自然衔接。

The culture in the Sacred Valley is rich and still alive.(圣谷的文化丰富且延续至今)恰好统领全段。

They come to hike, explore and enjoy nature.(他们来此徒步、探索、亲近自然),They 需要一个复数名词作指代对象。A 项 The valley's beauty attracts many tourists 中的 tourists 正好被 They 指代,且“美景吸引游客—游客来徒步”逻辑顺畅。

THE MEMORY JAR

When I was in primary school, my teacher Ms. Gao asked each of us to keep a “memory jar (罐)”. Every Friday, we wrote down one 36 thing that happened during the week on a small piece of paper, folded it, and put it into the jar. At first, I thought it was just a 37 game. But in some weeks, I could only find one small thing to write about. I complained (抱怨) that nothing exciting ever happened to me.

Then one Friday, Ms. Gao showed us her own jar from ten years ago. There were more than five hundred 38 in it. “Most of them are very small things,” she said, “a warm 39 from a stranger, a bird singing outside my window, a student saying thank you.” I was surprised. To her, those little moments were worth 40 .

After that, I began to 41 my days. I noticed the sunshine on my desk, the smile of the noodle seller, and the joke my deskmate told when the teacher wasn’t looking. 42 , my jar became heavier.

Last month, I felt sad because I 43 an important exam. That evening, I opened my jar and read the notes one by one. By the time I reached the bottom, I was smiling. The notes did not solve my problem, but they reminded me that my life was full of small 44 .

Now I understand why Ms. Gao started this game. Memory is like a light. It cannot change the past, but it can 45 us in the dark moments. The good news is that we can fill it with light every single day.

  1. A. happy B. strange C. sad
  2. A. meaningless B. simple C. difficult
  3. A. coins B. sweets C. notes
  4. A. smile B. discovery C. promise
  5. A. inspiring B. comparing C. recording
  6. A. pay attention to B. look up to C. run out of
  7. A. Suddenly B. Slowly C. Luckily
  8. A. took B. passed C. failed
  9. A. secrets B. joys C. chances
  10. A. guide B. suit C. attract

【解析】空前为 one ___ thing that happened during the week(一周中发生的一件……的事),空后举例都是温暖、美好的小事,且文末点题 my life was full of small joys,全文基调积极,故填 happy。B 项 strange(奇怪的)、C 项 sad(伤心的)与上下文情感色彩相反。

At first, I thought it was just a ___ game. B 项 simple 最符合“just a simple game”的语气。A 项 meaningless(毫无意义)语气过重,且与后文“她坚持下来了”矛盾;C 项 difficult(困难的)与 just a...game 的轻描淡写相悖。

A 项 coins(硬币)、B 项 sweets(糖果)与“写纸条”的动作不符。提示:注意复现——第三段最后 read the notes one by one 与本题呼应。

【解析】空处与 a bird singing outside my window、a student saying thank you 并列,都是“温暖的小瞬间”;a warm ___ from a stranger 应填 smile(陌生人一个温暖的微笑)。B 项 discovery(发现)、C 项 promise(承诺)都不能被 warm 修饰,也不属于“小瞬间”的范畴。

40答案:C 【动词辨析(be worth doing)】

be worth doing sth.

I noticed the sunshine on my desk, the smile of the noodle seller, and the joke my deskmate told...,都是“留心观察生活”的表现,故填 pay attention to(留意、关注)。B 项 look up to(敬仰)、C 项 run out of(用完)与“观察日常”无关。

A 项 Suddenly(突然)与“逐渐积累”矛盾;C 项 Luckily(幸运地)与“罐子变重”无逻辑关系。

A 项 secrets(秘密)、C 项 chances(机会)都无法与 full of small...

(Memory is like a light),此处 it can ___ us in the dark moments 应延续“光在黑暗中引路”的比喻,填 guide(指引)。

HANFU ACROSS THE OCEAN

【complete whether admire as study collection surprise historian enjoy spread】

46surprised

47As

空后为名词短语 a lover of fashion history,此处需要一个介词,表示“作为……”,用 As(句首大写)。

48completely

空处修饰形容词 amazed,应用副词;complete 的副词形式为 completely(be completely amazed 完全被惊艳到)。

49whether

wondered 后接宾语从句 she could find useful information from Chinese websites,句意为“她想知道能否从中文网站找到有用信息”,表“是否”用 whether(不用 if 更稳妥,且此处无 or not 也可用 whether 引导)。

50studying

空前为介词 by,介词后接动名词,故 study → studying(by studying Chinese dynasties 从学习中国朝代开始)。

51historians

空前为 famous(形容词),空后为 and searched on Chinese social media,此处需名词;由 videos of famous ___ 可知指“著名历史学家的视频”,且为泛指复数,故 historian → historians。

52collection

a large ___ of photos 表示“大量的照片收藏”,用名词 collection(a collection of 一批/一套收藏)。注意 build a collection of 为常见搭配。

53enjoyable

空前为系动词 is,空处作表语,应用形容词;enjoy → enjoyable(学习之旅总是令人愉快的)。

54to spread

plan to do sth.

SPACED REPETITION

问什么答什么,用完整句,注意 how 用 By doing、why 用 To do / Because 回答。

56It means reviewing what you've learned many times just before you forget it.((答 It is about reviewing...

Spaced repetition is about reviewing what you've learned many times just before you forget it. 答题时把 about + doing 改成 It means + doing 更符合“释义”问法;注意照抄主干、不要漏掉 just before you forget it 这一关键限定。

57To meet our own needs.(Because our review plan should meet our own needs.)

But Tang believes the review plan should be flexible. "You should change your review plan to meet your own needs," she said. To meet our own needs 或 Because 从句;关键是答出“满足自身需要”,而不是泛泛而谈“因为每个人不同”。

58By checking those mistakes and trying to find different ways to solve them.(只写出一个方面得 1 分)

On weekends, Tang reviews the mistakes again. "I don't just check those mistakes; I also try to find different ways to solve them."How 提问要用 By doing 回答;原文含两个方面——① 检查错题 ② 尝试用不同方法解题,两点都答才得满分,只答一点给 1 分。

59She feels amazed.(Amazed. / She thinks it is amazing.)

Now, Tang has jumped from the middle ranks to the top three in her class. "It is truly amazing," she said.

60Yes. Because it helps me remember things better and makes my study more effective.(言之有理即可)(开放题)

This method helps you improve your memory. / It helps you spend less time on what you already know well.;答 No 也完全可以,如 I prefer to review everything before an exam because I have little time. 注意:先表态,再给一条具体理由,不要只写 Yes/No 或空泛地写 It is good.
