From that day on, I didn’t talk to Alex. Each day at school, I passed the hallways
with a new route, avoiding the places where he appeared. The shared excitement that
once connected us was replaced by a painful silence. Alex tried to do something to
mend it. One day, he even left me a note, trying to comfort me. But I looked at him
coldly, “Leave me alone.” I knew I was hurting him, but the pain of rejection was too
fresh, and I couldn’t find the words to bridge the gap. My mom noticed my unhappiness
and tried to find a way to help.
Finally, Mom talked with me, saying Alex wasn’t the one to blame. She reminded
me that success and failure were parts of life’s journey. “You should have congratulated
your friend on this instead of feeling pitiful for yourself,” she said seriously. It suddenly
struck me how unfairly I treated Alex. Seized by guilt, I followed mom’s advice and
1left Alex a note, expressing my feelings—not as an apology, but as a step towards
healing and rebuilding our bond. It was time to face my fears and embrace the reality
that our friendship could help get through tough times.

第一节
1.M: What happened to your son?
W: My little boy fell down the stairs while he was playing with his classmates.
M: I’m sorry to hear that. Let me examine him right now... Luckily, he didn’t break any
bones.
2. M: There are so many plants in your house!
W: Yeah. I used to be a professional gardener, but my age eventually made it impossible.
So now, I have my lovely little garden.
M: It’s beautiful! I feel like I’m traveling through a forest.
3. M: Wow, I love that dress on you.
W: Its length is perfect. But I’m not sure about the color. My skin color is a little dark
and I wonder if it looks good. The indoor lights are too strong.
M: Let’s see if we have the same dress in blue.
4. W: You’re going to take a vacation next month?
M: Yes, my family and I are going to New York. We will visit the Statue of Liberty and
Times Square. What I’m most excited about is that I will see a play on Broadway.
5.W: I’d love to have Grandma’s glasses. Granddad. Only, they mean a lot of memories.
You should keep them.
M: I know you always like them. It will make me happy to keep them in the family.
第二节
6. 听下面一段对话,回答以下小题。
W: What are you up to this afternoon?
M: I’m going to try out for the school musical.
W: Me too! I hope to play the role of a famous actress. What about you?
M: I hope to be in the band.
W: What instrument do you play?
M: Several, actually. My grandfather taught me to play the guzheng when I was little.
It’s a traditional Chinese instrument. Then I started violin lessons at primary school,
and I took up the guitar a few months ago.
W: Wow! Do you write songs as well?
M: Not really. But I’d like to have a go at it someday!
27. 听下面一段对话,回答以下小题。
M: What are you going to do this weekend, Mary?
W: I usually learn Python online on Saturdays and read books on Sundays. But this
Saturday, I plan to go to the cinema, because there will be a new movie coming out,
and one of my favorite actors will play a key role in this film. I have been looking
forward to it for a long time.
M: Do you think that enjoying movies at the cinema is much more fascinating than
watching movies at home?
W: Yes, exactly! You can watch high-resolution images on a big screen with Dolby
sound effects.
M: I really like watching detective movies and science fiction movies in the cinema.
How about you?
W: My favorite is comedy. Whenever I watch one, I feel like the whole world is brighter.
And if you watch those movies in cinema, you can be much happier because of the
audience around you.
M: You are absolutely right. By the way, are you going to watch the movie alone?
W: No, I will go there with Jack. Would you like to join us?
M: I’m in! Tell me which cinema you will go to, and I can see you tomorrow.
8.听下面一段对话,回答以下小题。
W: Colin, you got the highest score on the English exam again. How I envy you!
M: You did make progress this time, especially in reading and writing parts.
W: But I’m still dissatisfied with my spoken English. It’s my biggest problem.
M: Cheer up, Tina. Let me help you find the right way to learn English. When you’re
studying a language, the keyword is patience. It’s of the greatest importance, because
nobody can master a language all at once.
W: Oh, yeah. But what am I supposed to do? Find some foreign friends or go abroad to
learn it?
M: Not exactly. You can just make full use of every morning to practice English.
W: Should I get up earlier every day?
M: You don’t have to do so. Actually, there are indeed many chances in the morning
that you can grasp to learn English. For example, you can listen to English news while
you are dressing and washing. At the same time, you can imitate and speak English
loudly. You need to take every opportunity to learn.
W: Practice makes perfect, right?
M: You said it.
9. 听下面一段对话,回答以下小题。
3M: Hello, everyone. I’d like to introduce Sally Reacher, who is here today representing
our True Blue Neighbors program. I want our company to give back to the community,
so I’m giving each employee four hours off a week to help one organization. Sally will
be introducing the opportunities.
W: Thanks, Mr. Timms. Our biggest need is for tutoring volunteers at the local
elementary school. We will provide training, of course, and all you have to do is give
your time.
M: I understand there are other opportunities besides the tutoring program at the
elementary school. Can you tell us about some of them?
W: We have groups that go to the local soup kitchen to help serve meals every week.
And we also have teams that gather household items and take them to shelters.
M: So, do my employees have to sign up?
W: Of course not. It’s volunteer work, with “voluntary” being an important aspect of it.
M: And how do we get involved?
W: There’s a table at the back of the room with information sheets. You can look at all
our organizations and choose where you’ll put your energy.
10. 听下面一段独白,回答以下小题。
W: It’s easy for parents to get worried about their kids being left behind. But the truth
is, two-year-olds don’t need a computer. Early-childhood experts agree that two-year-
olds need experience in the real first. At about three and a half, most children can learn
to handle the mouse. At this age, kids may not need a computer, but they’ll enjoy it.
And they’ll learn from it, often in unforeseen ways. Judy Salpeter, San Francisco,
California, editor of Technology and Learning, remembers that when her son was three,
he loved a paint-box program that allowed him to position stamps of little figures on
the screen. One day, she overheard him saying, “I’ll put all these here because they’re
food, and all these here because they’re animals.” Although the software hadn’t been
designed to teach classification, it allowed him to experiment with that idea himself. If
you don’t have a computer by the time your child goes to school, he’ll form his first
impressions of computers in the classroom. It’s OK for them to learn the computer at
school. But if they had used it at home, they’ll feel smarter and it’s easier for them to
succeed in their studies. By third or fourth grade, however, students may be at a definite
disadvantage in both writing and research if they don’t have at-home access toward
processing programs.
