第⼆节
One possible version:
Then, during a particularly snowy evening, our grandparents surprised us. They pulled out an old box filled
with letters and faded photographs—some from their childhood and others from generations we’d only heard
about in stories. “These belong to all of you now,” Grandma said, her voice soft but firm. We pored over them
together, piecing together our family’s journey across time and borders. I felt a deep sense of respect, realizing
how much strength and love had built our family’s story.
With the letters and photos in the old box, we finished our cookbook. Each recipe breathed with life—
Grandparents’ photos with stories and our handwritten notes about how to make tea and roasted lamb. On the

last page, we left space for new memories: a pocket for future recipes, and a promise to gather every winter.
These traditions teach me that heritage isn’t just about preserving the past; it’s also about actively shaping the
future. By honoring our roots, we plant seeds for stories yet to be told.

Text 1
W: The food at this restaurant has improved a lot.
M: Yes, I didn't like their noodles, but they're great now. Same with the dumplings.
W: I could eat my duck all over again.
Text 2
M: I don't want to watch TV. I'm feeling active. Shall we go for a run?
W: But I was looking forward to an afternoon of watching romantic films and eating ice creams. Perhaps we
could make a deal - watch a film at home, then have a nice walk?
M: OK, let's do that then.
Text 3
M: Did you watch the Olympic ice - skating events? Nathan Chen was amazing!
W: Oh, I usually only watch the opening ceremonies. They are more interesting than sports.
M: But the skating and skiing events are the best part. Plus, the interviews are so heart - warming!
Text 4
W: Do you know if they are posting the exam results at the school notice board like last year?
M: Not this time. They'll post them on the website, so you'll be able to see them in your house.
Text 5
W: I have so many jobs to do. I don't know where to start. I end up either doing nothing or putting jobs off till
later. Can you help me?
M: When I'm in that kind of situation, I make a to - do list and work through them. Try doing that.
Text 6
M: Excuse me, I have an appointment with the headmaster. Could you tell me where his office is, please?
W: Yes. You need to go up to the second floor, and walk to the end of the hall. There's a door to the right. Go
through the door, and you'll see a science lab. The headmaster's office is on the right - hand side.
M: Is there a lift?
W: Yes, there is. It's just over there, next to the office.
M: Is there a toilet I could use, please?
W: Yes, if you just walk through the canteen, you'll see it at the end.
Text 7
M: So, Miss Green, tell us why you're the best person for this job.
W: I'm fresh out of university, and I graduated top of my year.
M: But you have no experience in this sort of field.
W: No, but what I do have is lots of energy and ideas.
M: Can you share some ideas with us about our business and how we could grow?
W: Certainly. I'm actually a customer of yours and I notice you still send paper letters.
M: Yes, to give our customers information on our latest offers.
W: I would suggest taking advantage of email or social media.
M: That's a great idea. That could save our cost a lot.
W: Exactly.
Text 8
M: Do we have to keep going to all these boring shops? I'd rather be at work.
W: If you want a new sofa for our living room like your friend's, then yes. Come on, this will be the last place
we visit.
M: Then can we go home? I'm so hungry. I haven't eaten anything since breakfast, and we must have walked
ten miles or more!
W: We've only been to two shops before this one! We haven't walked anywhere near that distance.
M: Well, it feels like we have.
W: How about this sofa? It's blue like you have always wanted and it feels really nice when you sit in it. Go on!
Have a feel!
M: No, I don't like the look of it. It's too dark. I want grey - blue.
W: Well, how about this one?
M: No, that one is green - blue. It reminds me of the seaside, and you know how much I hate the seaside.
W: You're not really making this very easy, are you? OK, you win. Let's go home. We can keep the sofa we've
already got. It's black - blue - close enough!
Text 9
W: I don't believe it! It's gone. My whole report has disappeared.
M: What do you mean?
W: I finished my report on the computer - about two thousand words, and then I saved it. But now it's not there.
M: Oh, Jessica, it can't be true. Are you sure you saved it?
W: Yes. I read the report through to check it. I corrected my mistakes and then I saved it before closing it down.
M: Oh, I'm so sorry to hear that. Have you made a copy of it?
W: No. I just can't face writing it all again. You know what? I think my little brother is behind this.
M: What do you mean?
W: There are never any problems with the computer when my mom and dad use it. But when my brother uses
it, he always messes about with things, changing the settings and trying to be clever.
M: And you think that's why your report wasn't saved?
W: I'm pretty much certain about it. I'll ask him when I see him.
M: Listen, Gary is really good with computers. Why not ask him to come over and have a look at yours?
Maybe he can do something to get your report back.
W: I suppose anything is worth a try.
Text 10
M: Thank you so much for having me here today. The last time I was in this hall, I was sitting exactly where
you are, because I went to this school as a child. Now, here I am today as an adult to tell you a little bit about
what I do. It's strange because I remember this hall as being so much bigger!
Anyway, let me tell you a little bit about me. My name is James Black and I write books. But my books
aren't the storybooks your teacher reads to you at the end of the day. They are full of facts. What sort of facts?
Well, I mainly write about steam trains. You see, once upon a time, there was a railway station in this village,
just by the shop, and steam trains used to visit once a day. Sadly, the station closed down many years ago, but I
still remember the way they sounded, the way they smelt, the way I would get bits of coal dust in my eyes...
Anyway, when I got older, I decided to write a book about them. And here it is! Now, let me show you some of
the pictures...
