It seems to only happen in science fiction. However, a recent surgery done by doctors in Chengdu has shown the possibility in real life. Using a robotic technology, the doctors saved a patient in Lhasa (拉萨). With the development of AI-powered remote (远程的) surgery, modern healthcare has changed in a big way. ②AI played an important part in this surgery. By studying tons of medical data (数据), AI helps doctors plan the surgery, predict problems that could happen, and find the solutions. ③During the surgery, AI also tells the doctors the patient’s necessary information, like heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels. If anything of the patient goes wrong, it can warn the medical team and suggest changes to the surgery plan. ④ ________ Remote surgeries need fast data transmission (传送), as even small delays (延迟) can be dangerous. Supercomputing can quickly deal with a lot of data, making sure that the surgery pictures are clear and that the doctors’ orders are followed at once. The two-way network delay in this surgery was only 40 milli-seconds, thanks to powerful supercomputers. ⑤The robot used in this surgery does an excellent job. It has one arm and one hole, which makes the cut smaller, making less pain and speeding up the process for the patient to get better. It also increases the chances of a successful surgery and lowers the risk of accidents. ⑥This kind of surgery is a huge excitement, especially for people in remote areas. It means that patients don’t have to travel far for good medical care, saving time and being treated in time. ⑦And for places with fewer doctors, this kind of surgery also brings good news as doctors from bigger cities can help with surgeries and train local doctors. This kind of surgery is important for improving healthcare everywhere. 1.How does the writer lead into AI-powered remote surgery? A.By giving an example. B.By telling a story. C.By giving reasons. D.By listing numbers. 2.Which sentence can be put in the “________”? A.The robot plays an important part in the remote surgery. 1关注公众号:陆陆高分冲刺 ~领取:最新版“小中高考-总复习”、最新试卷下载 B.Another key role in this surgery was supercomputing technology. C.With AI, doctors can quickly finish the surgeries with data transmission. D.The surgery needs not only teamwork but also network. 3.What can we infer about AI-powered remote surgery from the passage?. A.No matter how far the place is, this kind of surgery can reach. B.The doctors in Lhasa might improve their skills through this kind of surgery. C.AI can warn the doctors if anything goes wrong with the patient. D.The patient in Lhasa may get better a little slower through this kind of surgery. 4.Which of the following shows the structure of this passage? (①= Para.1 ②= Para.2 ③= Para.3 ④= Para.4 ⑤= Para.5 ⑥= Para.6 ⑦Par.7) A. B. C. D. B Orangutan means “person of the forest” in the Malay language. Orangutans are great apes (猿). Wild orangutans live on two islands—Sumatra and Borneo in Southeast Asia. Orangutans have long and powerful arms, fingers and toes. These help them climb and swing between trees in the rainforest. Orangutans mostly eat fruit. They also eat leaves, flowers, and sometimes insects. Over 300 different types of food have been found in their diet. Orangutans play a very important role in spreading fruit and plant seeds in the forest. This helps to keep their rainforest home healthy. Orangutans are smart and intelligent. They create and use tools to get seeds from fruit. They also use tools to catch insects from the insides of trees. Orangutans memorize the rainforest where they live. This helps them know which trees have ripe (成熟的) fruit. They build a sleeping nest each night made of branches (树枝) and leaves. However, orangutans are in great danger. Scientists say that there are less than 62,000 orangutans remaining in the wild. Young orangutans are sometimes caught and sold as pets. Orangutans are also hunted for food. The biggest problem is that orangutans are losing their homes. Millions of rainforests are cut down each year for palm oil (棕榈油). Palm oil can be used to make candy bars, cookies, shampoos, soaps, and pet food. Most of the palm oil produced in the world is from Sumatra and Borneo. Wildlife organizations are working hard to help protect the remaining rainforests. If the rainforests disappear, orangutans will disappear forever. 1.What are orangutans? A.Rainforests. B.Great apes.C.Islands. D.Insects. 2关注公众号:陆陆高分冲刺 ~领取:最新版“小中高考-总复习”、最新试卷下载 2.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about? A.Why orangutans are in great danger. B.Why orangutans create and use tools. C.Where orangutans build a sleeping nest. D.How smart and intelligent orangutans are. 3.Which is the main reason why orangutans are in great danger? A.Orangutans are caught as pets. B.People hunt orangutans for food. C.Millions of rainforests are cut down. D.People don’t like wildlife organizations. 4.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage? A.Orangutans eat less than 300 different types of food. B.Orangutans have a very good memory of the trees with ripe fruits. C.People cut down rainforests for orangutans to have enough oil. D.Orangutans play an important role in keeping the rainforest healthy. 5.In which section of a website can we probably read the passage? A.Fantastic Wildlife. B.Modern Technology. C.Famous People. D.Culture Life. C Hundreds of baby emperor penguins (企鹅) jumped off a 15-meter cliff (悬崖), as high as a five-story building. This scene was filmed by drones in January at Atka Bay, Antarctica. These videos were shown as part of a documentary series called Secrets of the Penguins. This jump seems brave but could be dangerous to these young penguins. According to National Geographic, emperor penguins usually raise their babies on sea ice platforms (平台). When these fledglings (幼鸟) are 5 months old, they lose their baby feathers and grow adult feathers, which are waterproof. Not long after, the babies have to begin their first swim in the ocean to hunt for themselves. Normally they just need to jump from the sea ice, which is less than a meter high. However, the fast-melting ice in Antarctica changes the situation. In February 2023, the total area of sea ice reached a record low of 1.91 million square kilometers. “Emperor penguins need sea ice for their raising their young, it’s the stable platform they use to bring up their young,” Peter Fretwell from the British Antarctic Survey (BAS), UK’s national polar research institute, told the BBC. If the ice platform melts or breaks apart before penguin babies develop their waterproof (keep dry in water) feathers, they are more likely to drown or freeze to death. For this reason, emperor penguins are now choosing to raise their babies on the ice shelf, which is 3关注公众号:陆陆高分冲刺 ~领取:最新版“小中高考-总复习”、最新试卷下载 firmly connected to the land. As a result, babies must face the challenge of jumping off a high cliff. Michelle LaRue, a scientist at the University of Canterbury, New Zealand, told National Geographic that when the baby penguins reach the cliff face, they seem to think, “This doesn’t look like a fun jump, but I guess I have to do it.” Alarmingly, according to Live Science, the decrease in the ice has caused thousands of emperor penguin babies to die in West Antarctica in 2022. That may force more emperors to make their nests on ice shelves, said Fretwell. “It’s heartbreaking to think that the whole species may be gone if climate change continues on the path at the moment,” he added. 1.Why do emperor penguin babies jump off cliffs? A.They want to travel across the ocean to the other side. B.They are trying to avoid being caught by other animals. C.They are celebrating getting their adult feathers which are waterproof. D.They have no other way to enter the water to find their own food. 2.What causes emperor penguins to raise their young on ice shelves? A.Rising sea levels. B.The rapid melting of sea ice. C.More available food for the babies. D.Bigger size of ice shelves. 3.What is the main worry that Fretwell had about emperor penguins? A.They take less time to raise babies. B.Their skill in finding food on their own. C.The chance that they might disappear forever. D.Their growing need for frozen ocean water. 4.How does the author organize the information in the article? A.By comparing emperor penguins to other animals. B.By describing a problem and explaining its causes and effects. C.By listing the steps emperor penguins take to raise their young. D.By providing a timeline of events in Antarctica. D ‘What's in a name?’ Names can affect ( 影 响 ) how people look, 人如其名,你会长得越来越像你的名字! according to a study by scientists in Israel. They asked people to match names to pictures of adult(成人) faces and found they guessed correctly more often than by chance. However, this was much harder with children's photos. The scientists then wrote a computer program to compare (比较) people's faces with their names. As it turned out, adults with the same name look more similar than those with different names. However, the same thing can not be said about children. 4关注公众号:陆陆高分冲刺 ~领取:最新版“小中高考-总复习”、最新试卷下载 This made the scientists think that we may grow into our names. This is a kind of “self- fulfilling prophecy(自证预言)”, Ruth Mayo, the leading scientist, told the Indian newspaper The Print. In other words, without knowing it, we may have been changing our looks to match what other people expect from our names. Our names can also affect our life choices. A US study found that“Virginias” were more likely to live in Virginia Beach in Virginia, US. Also, people named Dennis were more likely to become dentists. This is because we like things that remind us of our names. However, this does not mean our lives are decided by our names. As William Shakespeare said, “A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” 1. How did scientists in Israel do their study? A. By comparing the children with adult groups. B. By guessing the names of people with similar faces. C. By following children's growth and development. D. By matching people to the photos from their childhood. 2. What might be the meaning of “self-fulfilling prophecy”? A. One can grow better without a name. B. Beliefs about one's name can shape one's future. C. Others' expectations don't make a difference. D. One won't know what to do without knowing the future. 3. What do the examples in Paragraph 5 show? A. Many people in the US share the same names. B. People like to follow others' choices. C. Names may play a role in life choices. D. A right name can help people find a job easily. 4. What does the writer use Shakespeare's words to show? A. Flowers' names are as important as human names. B. Flowers can change their looks to match their names. C. Names can't decide people's lives. D. One's name usually shows his or her whole life. 根据“Can you imagine a doctor performing a surgery (手术) on a patient thousands of kilometers away?
