Unlike 64. symbolizing 65. what 【答案解析】 第二部分 阅读 A 21. D。 22. A。 Susan provided what comfort she could through the night, but by sunrise, the elderly woman had died. The episode both haunted and motivated Susan.(苏珊整夜尽力提供安慰,但到了日出时,那位老 妇人还是去世了。 It was 1886,and the Victorian age held stiff against the progress of women.(那是 1886年,维多利亚时代对女性的进步有了 学科网(北京)股份有限公司强烈的抵制。) Susan worked long hours at her office but also braved the wind and snow, walking miles to make house calls. Her work was more than as a physician. She often acted as lawyer, accountant, counselor and even priest(牧师) as she helped the Omahas navigate the new world and she was determined to spend her entire life helping her people navigate the storms.(苏珊在 办公室工作很长时间,但她也勇敢地冒着风雪,走几英里路去上门看诊。 根据第一段中“Yet it became famous not because of a tempting semi-smile. Until a worker stole the masterpiece in 1911, it was still mostly unknown; viewers flooded in to see what a French newspaper called “an enormous, horrific, gaping void (空白)”.(然而,它之所以出名,并不是因为一个诱人的半笑。 故选A项。 根据第二段中“But as Rochelle Gurstein, a historian, writes in a new book, the “timeless classic” is anything but. “What I believed was written in stone was actually written in water”, she argues. Classics come and go.( 但正如历史 学家罗谢尔•格斯坦(Rochelle Gurstein)在一本新书中所写的那样,“永恒的 经典”绝非如此。 根据第四段中“Today, Johann Sebastjan Bach is often regarded as the master of classical music. But after his death in 1750, Bach’s compositions fell out of fashion until Felix Mendelssohn, a German composer, rediscovered them in the 1820s. Herman Melville’s masterpiece “Moby Dick” was largely forgotten until critics such as Raymond Weaver, a professor at Columbia University rescued him from the depth of a nobody around the centenary of his birth in 1919.(今天,约翰·塞巴斯蒂安·巴赫通常被认为是古典音乐大师。 根据最后一段““The status of classics” depends on critics and shows the power of passionate writers to change the way people look at art. Tastes evolve, and they should. But culture lives on only as long as people continue to argue over what counts as a classic today. The true enemy of the classic is not relativism or awakening. Tagade says this approach works because much of the training data consumed by large model s comes from online conversations, and the models learn to act in certain ways in response to different inputs.By having the right conversation with a model, it is possible to make it adopt a particular persona, causing it to act differently. C.It can make Al models adopt a particular persona.(它可以让人工智能模型采用特定的角色。) Yinzhen Li at Imperial College London says it is worrying how current models can be misused but developers need to weigh such risks with the potential benefits of LLMs. "Like drugs, they also have side effects that need to be cont rolled, " she says.(伦敦帝国理工学院的Yinzhen Li 表示,目前的模型可能会被滥用,这令人担忧,但开发者需要权衡这些风险与 LLM的潜在好处。' Artificial intelligence models can trick each other into disobeying their creators and providing ba nned instructions for making drugs, or even building a bomb, suggesting that preventing such Al "jailbreaks" is more 学科网(北京)股份有限公司difficult than it seems.(人工智能模型可以欺骗对方不服从其创造者,提供被禁止 的制造毒品的指令,甚至制造炸弹,这表明防止这种人工智能"越狱"比看起来 更困难。) 36. Do you like this jacket? W: It’s fine and so is the shirt but you’d better put a tie on as well. M: I suppose you’re right. It is an interview after all. W: Since you’re going to the dry cleaner’s, can you drop me off at Kroger’s? I need to get some groceries. M: Sure, but first I have to stop by the bank. I need some cash to pay for my dry cleaning. W: Oh, don’t worry. I can lend you some. (Text 3) M: Please make 30 copies for me and 20 copies for Mr. Brown as soon as I make the final corrections on the original. W: No problem. I will make all the copies. Then I need to book a special delivery service for Mr. Brown. (Text 4) M: How about if I come over to pick you up at 6:45 p.m. for the movie? W: Make it seven. I won’t have finished my dinner until then. (Text 5) W: I’m just going to order a get-well card for Jen from this website. M: That’ll cheer her up. It’s not much fun being stuck in a hospital. W: You know how much she likes flowers, so either one of these will do. M: Go for that one; it has more flowers on it. (Text 6) M: So how are the new neighbors? W: Well, I must say I’m quite pleased so far. It’s early days, of course — they’ve only been there for a couple of weeks. But they do seem better than the last ones. All those weekend parties. Such an unpleasant family. ⑥ M: Have you invited them round yet? W: Well, no, I haven’t had a chance. You see, they’ve asked me to go to their house on two occasions already and one of those was for lunch last weekend. ⑦ M: That’s very sociable of them. W: Yes. As I say, I’m rather pleased. They’ve even offered to come and cut my grass for me. (Text 7) W: So what made you decide to do a storytelling course? M: Well, a friend of mine who did it last year recommended it to me. She thought I might enjoy it — and she was right. It was great fun and everyone was very supportive. It gave me the courage I needed — and the self-belief — to be able to stand up and speak in front of a group of people. ⑧ W: So are you going to be leaving us to take up a career as a storyteller, then? M: No, I like working here too much. ⑨ W: Ha-ha! That’s a good story. ⑨ (Text 8) ⑩ M: Hello, I’m Kevin Millar and welcome to Career Central. My guest today is Alison Lee. Alison, can you tell us a bit about your job? W: Well, my job is fun. I spend most of my time observing the bears in their natural habitat and collecting information about their numbers, their ⑪ distribution and their habits. M: What skills do you need to have to do your job? W: You have to work well in a team and be prepared for potentially long waiting periods to see results from your research. ⑪ ⑫ M: Is there anything you should be careful of when doing this job? W: Well, once while I was cooking breakfast, a bear was putting its head ⑬ through the window. I quickly closed the window and it ran away. You must ⑬ remember that you work with wild animals and they can be dangerous. (Text 9) W: Did you go to San Francisco in the end? M: I was keen on going to San Francisco, but we decided on Quebec because my wife has a sister there that she wanted to see. I don’t regret it. Quebec is ⑭ absolutely fantastic. If you ever get the chance, you should definitely go. W: Really? Tell me more about it. M: When we arrived, there was a fresh carpet of snow on the ground, the sky was brilliant blue and the sun was shining. It was amazing! ⑮ W: So what can you do there? M: On our first day, we went on a walk around the city. I was really impressed by the Chateau Frontenac. It’s not only a luxurious hotel but also considered to be one of the most castle-like hotels in the world. We also went to the Lower Town, which has lovely old streets, lined with age-old charming shops. ⑯ W: Did you go skiing? M: No, but we did something better. Someone working at our hotel recommended we go to Village Vacances Valcartier. The place consists of several small snow- covered hills; you can’t ski there but you can go tubing. We got into these ⑰ huge tubes and launched ourselves down the hill. It was fantastic fun! (Text 10) M: Welcome to this annual innovation fair. I’m Camilla Doyle, from the organizing committee, and I’ll take you through a few highlights. Many industries are interested in Joe Higson’s work. There are many types of chemicals. Whichever they are, if used in the workplace, it’s crucial to keep ⑱ people safe, and Joe’s machine helps with this.
