At this selection of five museums, more French will be heard and visitors might feel a sense of
satisfaction when knowing they have arrived at a place that native Parisians also enjoy when going
on a trip.Museum of Natural History
Being a must-see spot in the museum at present, the Grand Gallery of Evolution dates back to the
1880s. Originally playing as a zoology building, it reopened to the public in 1994 after decades of
ignorance. The entire museum displays more than 9,000 preserved animals and insects.
Museum of Music
The museum’s collection covers centuries of European classical music and instruments, with
decorated pianos and hundreds of horns and string instruments. Live performances take place in
the galleries of the museum every day. The museum provides two versions of its English-language
audio guide, one for children and the other for adults.
Fairground Art MuseumAt this museum, guides describe the history of Europe’s traveling fairs and explain signs that
identify the origin of the country with a carousel horse. Reserve your tickets in advance on the
museum’s website. Tours in French are offered several days a week all year round, and English-
language tours are offered in the summer months.
Museum of Arts and Crafts
It was founded during the French Revolution to show its advanced science and technologies and
has since received constant updates. Early planes, including the first to cross the English Channel,
hang from the ceiling of one building. The collection has a huge range, with antique cars, early
engines and elements (元素) used in the construction of the Statue of Liberty.
Museum of Magic
Each visit to this museum begins with a short performance of simple tricks, followed by a guided
tour of the magic tools and objects on display in those 16th-century basements. This tour currently
takes place in French, so English-speaking visitors may want to explore on their own with the help
of English-language guidebooks available at the entrance.

A couple has recently placed their garbage can out for collection for the first time in 14
months, all thanks to their recycling skills. Richard and Louise Arnold have established such an
effective routine that they only need to put their garbage can on the side of the street once a year.
Louise explained that making small monthly changes in her life has resulted in her family
producing very little waste. She said, “It’s not as difficult as you might think if you start with
small steps. We began with soap, switching from bath cream to natural soap without packaging.
These bars are large enough that we cut them in half, using one for the sink and the other half for
the shower. It’s both cost-effective and environmentally friendly.”
“So it’s actually quite easy. Just go around your house and think of little things you can do
gradually, and you’ll start noticing the difference,” Louise added. Currently, the couple takes
recyclable waste to the tip, donates clothes to charity shops, and brings soft plastics and batteries
to a shop that accepts them.
In 2017, the couple established No Waste Living, which initially started as a weekend stall
at the local market and has since developed into a website. Louise regularly writes a newsletter for
her hundreds of subscribers. They also started selling eco-friendly products, ranging from non-chemical household cleaning and washing solutions for a “less toxic home” to bamboo washing-
up brushes. Louise mentioned, “I started No Waste Living because I wanted to show our
achievement s and lead by example.”
Although the family occasionally faces criticism, Louise remains determined. She said,
“The main point of contention(争论) for people regarding new waste rules is having to drive their
waste to a recycling center, which adds to their already busy lives. However, in the long run, you
will create more space in your home, save money, and spend less time dealing with garbage cans.”
24.How did the couple start their waste reduction journey?
A.By replacing small soaps with large ones.B.By using a small amount of bath cream.
C.By using unpackaged soap bars. D.By recycling soft plastics and batteries.
25.Why did the couple found No Waste Living?
A.To bring eco-products to market. B.To inspire others to follow in their footsteps.
C.To treat recyclable waste from the neighborhood. D.To answer the call of their
subscribers.
26.Why do some people dislike new waste rules?
A.They mean more work to deal with garbage.
B.They increase the cost of garbage collection.
C.They establish a set time for waste management.
D.They limit the daily amount of garbage for collection.
27.What is the text mainly about?
A.A business - minded couple. B.The “less poisonous home” concept.
C.The global trend in recycling. D.A planet- friendly lifestyle.

As one of the most momentous languages in the world, Latin had humble beginnings. It
originated along the Tiber River in Italy and only a handful of people spoke the language. Over
time, Latin became more distinguished as Romans procured political power. Many famous literary
texts and scientific classifications were written in Latin. Even though knowing Latin indicated a
person was educated, according to Britannica, in the 20th century far fewer people learned Latin”,
leading it to be classified as a "dead” language.
There are around 7, 000 living languages in the world, but, according to Britannica, “more
than half are at risk of dying out by the end of the 21st century”. Civilizations evolve over time
and so do languages. More often than not, a language dies because everyone who speaks the
language dies. For example, Marie Smith Jones, perhaps the last native speaker of the Alaskan
Eyak language, died at the age of 89 in 2008, and so did the language. Now, fewer and fewer
people speak Latin, which raises public's awareness about its preservation.
Actually, there are many other reasons in respect of why Latin should be preserved or
taught. “It is a window into an engaging ancient civilization, and studying an ancient civilization
teaches us to respect different points of view and unfamiliar cultural practices," says Kathleen
Coleman, James Loeb Professor of Harvard University.
Since it isn't used in ordinary conversations, there are a lot of difficulties that arise from
teaching Latin. Teaching a 'dead' language is distinct from teaching other languages, explainsColeman, “because there are no native speakers to demonstrate us how it sounds or answer
questions about the meanings of words or justify idioms. While it's tough, we still can find the
answers to our questions from the fragmentary evidence available in written texts.”
28.What can we learn about Latin from Paragraph 1?
A.Latin was well-known since its birth.
B.Only educated people learned Latin in the past.
C.Latin was not favored by scientists and writers.
D.All people didn't learn Latin in the 20th century.
29.The author mentions Marie Smith Jones in Paragraph 2 to show.
A.Latin is going to be a "dead” language.
B.what it really means when a language dies.
C.why people should be aware of protecting languages.
D.he is the last native speaker of the Alaskan Eyak language.
30.Why should people learn Latin according to Coleman?
A.To show unfamiliar practices. B.To respect others' opinions.
C.To learn about an ancient society. D.To protect a "dead” language.
31.What will the author probably discuss in the paragraph that follows?
A.The learning materials. B.The development of Latin.
C.The learning methods. D.The difficulties in learning Latin.

As many as 300 million full-time jobs throughout the world could be automated in some
way by the newest wave of artificial intelligence that has made platforms like ChatGPT, according
to Goldman Sachs economists.
In a report Sunday, they predicted that 18% of work globally could be computerized, with
the effects caused more deeply in advanced economies than emerging markets. That’s partly
because white-collar workers are seen to be more at risk than manual laborers. Administrative
workers and lawyers are expected to be most affected, the economists said, compared to the “little
effect” seen on physically demanding or outdoor occupations, such as construction and repair
work.
In the United States and Europe, about two-thirds of current jobs “are exposed to some
degree of AI automation”, and up to a quarter of all work could be done by AI completely, the
bank estimates.
Further use of such Al will likely contribute to job losses, the Goldman Sachs economists
wrote. But they noted that technological innovation that initially displaces workers has historically
also created employment growth in the long run.
While workplaces may shift, widespread adoption of Al could ultimately increase labor
productivity — and boost global GDP by 7% annually over a 10-year period, according to
Goldman Sachs economists.
“Although the impact of AI on the labor market is likely to be significant, most jobs and
industries are only partially exposed to automation and are thus more likely to be complemented
rather than replaced by AI,” the economists added. “Most workers are employed in occupationsthat are partially exposed to AI automation and, following AI adoption, will likely apply at least
some of their freed-up capacity toward productive activities that increase output.”
Of US workers expected to be affected, for instance, 25% to 50% of their workload “can be
replaced,” the researchers added. “The combination of significant labor cost savings, new job
creation, and a productivity boost for non-displaced workers raises the possibility of a labor
productivity boom like those that followed the emergence of earlier general-purpose technologies
like the electric motor and personal computer.”
32.Who are less likely to be affected by AI automation according to Paragraph 2?
A.White-collar workers. B.Repairmen.
C.Administrative workers. D.Lawyers.
33.What can we learn about AI according to Goldman Sachs economists?
A.AI may cause little impact on the labor market.
B.AI has replaced most jobs and industries.
C.AI may increase labor productivity.
D.AI has caused huge job losses.
34.What does the underlined word “complement” in paragraph 6 mean?
A.To add to something to improve. B.To destroy.
C.To introduce new things. D.To displace.
35.What’s the best title for the text?
A.The Concept of AI B.The Achievements of AI
C.The Impacts of AI D.The Development of AI

How to Have Open Communication
When you can communicate openly, you can start improving your relationships, both
personal and professional, in a number of ways. 3 6 There are a few things that you can
do when you have an open conversation.
3 7 Be mindful of where and when you need to have a discussion with someone,
especially if you are having an important disagreement. Someone is not likely to be open when
communicating if you are surrounded by family or out in public. Therefore, have a discussion
when it’s more convenient for both you and your partner.
Have patience. When emotions are high, it can be easy to be swept in those feelings and
want to get all your points across. But this can make communication more difficult because you
are so focused on your feelings that you aren’t able to focus on what you need to say. Be patient
and allow for silences that happen. 3 8
Take the time to listen to what the other person is saying. 3 9 This allows you to
see if there is any misunderstanding and allows you the time to understand his words accurately.
You don’t need to agree on all his words, but it is important to understand where they’re coming
from.
Be honest with your thoughts and your feelings. Sometimes we feel the need to soften ourwords to lessen the blow. 4 0 After all, when we leave out certain details, we’re not able
to communicate openly. You need to be honest with your partner about your needs and your
experiences. By doing so, you’re hopefully closer to being able to tackle the issue.
A.Wait for the appropriate time and place.
B.Discuss what you need to communicate openly.
C.Bring something positive into your communication.
D.This could be because we don’t want to hurt the other person.
E.Ask questions if you need to and even repeat what he has said.
F.Open communication increases trust and helps bridge differences.
G.Sometimes you need time to think and accurately express yourself.

One Friday afternoon, some of my classmates planned to take a hike in a jungle(丛林),
including my friends Jake and Liam. They asked me if I would like to go with them. I loveoutdoor activities, so I immediately said yes.
It was sunny the following morning. I was in a very good mood. I was so excited about
hiking since it was the first time that I had hiked with them. I ate a light breakfast. After that, I
hurriedly ran out of my house to meet them in the school playground.
The jungle where we were going was far from our school. It took about three hours to go
there by bus, but it wasn’t a boring journey as we were all eager to hike. After we got off the bus,
we found a local guide to ensure our safety. The guide, whose name is Thomas, said that he had
hiked there lots of times and that he was familiar with the route. When we arrived, Thomas told us
never to leave the group. He warned us that we would easily get lost in the jungle if we walked
alone. Then we began to hike.
There were various plants which we had never seen before. All of us were amazed at the
beauty of the scenery and the sounds of the creatures. Sadly, after hiking for about an hour, I found
that my watch on my wrist was gone. I realized that my watch had fallen off. It was a gift from my
grandma, and I loved it very much. Without thinking, I turned back and tried to find my watch.
Since I was the last one walking in the group, nobody noticed it when I walked away.
I wasn’t worried about getting lost because I thought I could find my watch easily.
However, when I finally found my watch and tried to catch up with my friends, they had gone far.
I immediately realized that I was alone and lost.

作文I
范文
Last week, we held a coming-of-age ceremony in the school hall, which left a deep
impression on me.
During the event, we looked back on our growth and learned more about adulthood.
Coming-of-age means a person grows up and begins to take social responsibilities. At 18, we
should cherish our youth, learn to think, and learn to be grateful and independent.
Looking ahead, I dream of being a scientist. To attain my goal, I will attach greater
importance to exercising my body and mind. I firmly believe my dream will come true.
【导语】本篇书面表达属于应用文。你校于上周举办了成人礼活动。要求考生给校报英语

作文II
One possible version:
The sky started to become darker and I was very worried. I didn’t know what to do. I called out
to my friends, but there was no reply. I tried to look for a way but none of the scenes seemed
familiar. I walked for a few more minutes and I got tired and hungry so I gave up. I was horrified.
Finally, I gave up and leaned on a tree to rest. As I was falling asleep, I heard a human voice. It
was unbelievable, then I heard someone else. I screamed, “Help!”
Actually, they were rescuers searching for me. My friends Jack and Liam told the guide that they
found I was lost, and finally some rescuers were called to help. They led me back to the bus.
Seeing me, my friends told me they were really worried. I apologized to them for leaving the
group without telling them. Instead of feeling angry with me, they comforted me and helped me
calm down to learn a good lesson from it. And I truly learned a good lesson from it-never leave
your group members when you’re in a strange place.
