When most kids go to the beach, they’re too focused on making sandcastles and splashing around to notice
litter, but several years ago, for 7-year-old Cash Daniels, noticing a plastic straw sparked a lifelong passion for
saving the planet.
Cash, who is now known as the “conservation kid”, has always loved nature. He grew up fishing along the
Chattanooga River, after all! But once he learned that 80 percent of all trash from land and rivers ends up in the
ocean, he couldn’t sit back.
He started with cleanups along the river, something that quickly went from a family affair to a community

effort with volunteers and neighbors. In 2019, Cash, together with a Canadian conservationist, Ella Galaski-Rossen,
started a nonprofit called the Cleanup Kids. Despite living in different countries, they managed to create
educational videos on their YouTube channel. “We hope to be a really big nonprofit that eliminates plastic in the U.
S. and Canada,” Cash said. “We want to inform kids and adults in the landlocked states on how their actions are
connected to the water and the ocean,” Cash said.
Cash was selected as one of America’s top 10 youth volunteers of 2021 by the Prudential Spirit of Community
Awards. He also earned the title of National Honoree, where he received a$5,000 grant to go to a nonprofit of his
choice, and he became the first person to win the Youth Conservationist Award two years in a row from the
Tennessee Wildlife Federation.
“I want to travel the world, teach others, and help them feel connected to the ocean. Because if you are
connected to the ocean-if you love it and what lives in it—you’ll want to protect it,” he said. “This is my fun, and it
becomes more fun with every new discovery.”
24.Which can replace the underlined words “sit back” in paragraph 2?

I’m used to seeing small leaps in technological progress, but occasionally, there are things that will still shock
me. At the end of last year, a company called OpenAI released a truly jaw-dropping demonstration of a new AI
试卷第5页,共13页
学科网(北京)股份有限公司更多全科试卷及资料在网盘群,请关注公众号:高中试卷君
technology that feels almost like technology has skipped ahead by a few generations.
This new AI technology is called ChatGPT, a computer program that can understand and respond to human
language. It is trained on a lot of text, so it can understand what people are saying and respond in a way that sounds
like a real person. What’s even more amazing is that ChatGPT seems frighteningly human in its ability to
understand questions and answer them competently. “Write a story about Leonardo da Vinci in the style of Roald
Dahl,” you can ask it, and it’ll spin up a pretty good children’s story.
One area where I’ve found ChatGPT to be enormously useful is its ability to write computer code. This has
particularly amazed me as unlike the English language, when you write code it has to be very precise and carefully
structured – but when I asked it to write me a program that would put some data into a database for me, in a
particularly complex way, within seconds it generated something that would have taken me hours to do manually
(人工地).
ChatGPT isn’t completely human, however. For example, it sometimes generates things that sound true, but
are actually just nonsense. This is because of the way the AI learns through pattern recognition. There’s no real
intelligence operating there – it is just repeating something based on what it has “read” before. ChatGPT is better at
some tasks than others: it can write a brilliant invitation email, but its ability to rhyme leaves a lot to be desired.
And this is why I’m pretty convinced that ChatGPT is going to change the world, sooner rather than later. It’s
already hugely impressive, but what exists at the moment is just a demonstration. Once the same AI is built into
other apps and can connect to the live internet to learn more, it will become even more sophisticated. Our
computers will no longer be just our word processors, but our writing partners too.
28.What can we learn about ChatGPT from the second paragraph?
A.It can talk to people with emotion.
B.It seems like having a conversation with a real person.
C.It is unable to generate original content.
D.What it can do frightens many people.
29.Which aspect about ChatGPT’s ability to generate responses does the author feel to be particularly useful?
A.Its efficiency. B.Its precision. C.Its structure. D.Its diversity.
30.What does paragraph 4 mainly talk about?
A.AI cannot think the same way as humans do.
B.There’s no real intelligence in the world.
C.ChatGPT has some limitations.
D.ChatGPT is better than other chatbot AI.

“I am very grateful to China Ocean Shipping Group(Cosco Shipping)for not only offering me a job but also
sponsoring my daughter to become a world champion in boxing,” Michail Michalakakos, a dockworker at the
Piraeus Port operated by Cosco Shipping, said in a special program produced by China News Service.
The Piraeus Port, located 12 km southwest of Athens, is a flagship project in the Belt and Road
Initiative(BRI)cooperation between China and Greece. Praised as the “Pearl of the Aegean Sea ”with its
breathtaking scenery and thousand-year history, the port, Greece’s largest, once faced development challenges in
the beginning of the new century. Cosco Shipping signed a 35-year agreement with Greece in 2008 and invested in
its container terminals No. 2 and No. 3 in 2009.
Before Cosco Shipping took over the operations, some Greek employees had doubts about the harmony of the
business model of Chinese companies at European ports and whether local workers might face unemployment
under Chinese management. However, these concerns naturally disappeared. Michalakakos noted that instead of
laying off workers, Cosco Shipping continued to support the port’s growth and even sent local young talent to
China to learn about port management and improve their skills. Working at Cosco Shipping Piraeus Port fills
Michalakakos with pride, as the company not only values its employees but also supports their families.
His daughter has a passion for boxing, but their family faced financial difficulties, making it impossible for her
to participate in international competitions. Upon learning of their situation, Cosco Shipping decided to sponsor his
daughter’s participation in these competitions, ultimately enabling her to fulfill her boxing dreams. A year ago,
Michalakakos’s daughter won the world championship in women’s boxing(youth category)while representing
Greece in Venice, Italy. She will prepare for Greek league competitions.
32.Why does Michail Michalakakos feel grateful to China Ocean Shipping Group?
A.Because it provides financial support for her daughter.
B.Because it gives her daughter boxing guidance.
C.Because it founds a special organization to raise money.
D.Because it shows her daughter how to be a world champion.
33.Which information about the Piraeus Port is correct?
A.It is located 12 km northwest of Athens.
B.It’s only famous for its beautiful scenery.
C.This port faces no challenges of development.

A.They might lose their jobs under Chinese management.
B.Chinese companies would take over all the European ports.
C.Their abilities of port management were not good enough.
D.Their salaries could not make both ends meet properly.
35.What’s the main idea of this article?
A.Cosco Shipping sent local young talents to China to improve their skills.
B.China Ocean Shipping Group signed an agreement with Greece in 2008.
C.The Chinese company helped a Greece employee’s daughter be world champion.
D.Michalakakos’s daughter won the world championship in women’s boxing.

In some US states, gym class is changing. Many schools are focusing on getting students ready for life after
high school. They are looking for ways to leave even the least athletic kids with the will and skills to keep moving.
For gym teachers, that means less focus on who is best at a sport. It means less rope climbing and dodgeball(躲避
球). 36
A New Model
In one New York school district, there is no “gym” class. 37 They include dance, self- defense and rock
climbing. They include mountain biking, in-line skating, and boating.
“We want our kids…, to be active for life,” said Ron Whitcomb. He manages the physical education, or PE,
program for the Victor, New York, school district.
A US law passed in 2015 increased the importance of health and fitness in education. It also gave more
funding(资金) to PE programs.
Whitcomb’s program started before that law passed. 38 Connecticut, Vermont and Michigan are all
planning to improve PE’s place in their schools.
Outside the Gym
Tracy Krause teaches PE in Washington State. For a few years, she has taken students fly-fishing and rock
climbing. 39 It combines PE, English, and science into one program. “We want kids to leave with a plan for
the future,” Krause said. “I think the same needs to be true about their health.”

Young Chinese are fighting against society through a simple act of resistance: lying down. Examples of the
“tangping”, or “lying flat”, way of life 56 (include) not getting married, not having children, and refusing to
work extra hours or to hold a job at all. “I stay at home and sleep and watch television series.” said Zhang, who
described herself as “lying flat” for the last two weeks 57 leaving her job in the film industry in Wuxi.
“Tangping” 58 (emerge) over the last few months. Some compare them to the 1950s Beat Generation
in the United States. 59 (other) call their behavior a form of nonviolent resistance. “People realize there is
no upward mobility,” said Yicheng Wang, a PhD student in political science at Boston University. The term
developed after 60 April post on the Tieba forum, whose author, unemployed for the last two years,
described a low-effort, low-cost lifestyle consisting of just a few months’ work out of the year.
“Lying flat is my movement,” he 61 (write), referring to the Greek philosopher Diogenes, who was

But as “tangping” gained 63 (popular), it also brought a level of dishonor. Nanfang Daily called the

For Zhang in Wuxi, lying flat is not about giving up or withdrawing from society. “Many people want to lie

At one table by the window, a lady just finished up her lunch. It wasn’t anything fancy, just a sandwich and
some salad, with a cup of tea to wash it all down. She seemed to be in her own little world, staring out the window
every now and then, like she was waiting for something. After a bit, she got up, paid for her meal at the counter and
left.
Her table was still a mess, with bits of her meal left behind. It wasn’t a big deal—this happens all the time. But
today, something different was going to happen. A young boy, who looked like he’d had a pretty rough time, had
been watching her from the table around the corner.
This boy was in rough shape. His clothes were too big and looked like they’d seen better days. His hair was all
over the place, and his face had streaks (条痕) of dirt on it. He had that look of someone who hadn’t had a good
meal too long. When the lady left, the boy saw his chance, He quickly sat down and started wolfing down the
leftovers (吃剩的食物) like it was the best meal he’d ever had.
But then, the waiter walked over. He was an older guy who’d probably seen everything. He didn’t say
anything at first, just watched the boy for a second. The boy got scared, stopped eating, and tears started to fill his
