(2023 上·吉林长春·高三东北师大附中校考阶段练习) With an abundance of sun and wind, Spain is
positioning itself as Europe’s future leader in green hydrogen production to clean up heavy industries. But some
energy experts express caution because this process relies on massive availability of zero-carbon electricity.
Green hydrogen is created when renewable energy sources power an electrical current that runs through water,
separating its hydrogen and oxygen molecules (分子). The process doesn’t produce planet-warming carbon
dioxide, but less than 0.1% of global hydrogen production is currently created in this way.
The separated hydrogen can be used in the production of steel, ammonia (氨) and chemical products, all of
which require industrial processes that are harder to stop fossil fuels. Hydrogen also can be used as a transportation
fuel, which could one day transform the highly polluting shipping and aviation sectors.
Spain’s large, windswept and thinly populated territory receives more than 2,500 hours of sunshine on average
per year, providing ideal conditions for wind and solar energy, and therefore green hydrogen production.“If you look at where hydrogen is going to be produced in Europe in the next million years, it’s in two
countries, Spain and Portugal,” said Thierry Lepercq, the founder and president of HyDeal Ambition, an industry
platform bringing together 30 companies. “Hydrogen is the new oil.”
Lepercq is working with companies like Spanish gas pipeline corporation Enagas and global steel giant
ArcelorMittal to design an end-to-end model for hydrogen production, distribution and supply at a competitive
price. Criticism has centered on green hydrogen’s higher cost compared with highly-polluting “gray hydrogen”
drawn from natural gas. Lepercq argues that solar energy produced in Spain is priced low enough to compete.
Globally, Lepercq said, “Electricity is 20% of energy consumption. What about the 80% that is not electrified?
... You need to replace those fossil fuels. Not in 50 years’ time. You need to replace them now.”
24. Why are some experts cautious about green hydrogen production in Spain?
A. It needs large amounts of sun and wind. B. It has an effect on heavy industries.
C. It causes conflicts among countries. D. It uses lots of zero-carbon electricity.
25. What is the advantage of green hydrogen production in Spain?
A. Ideal geographical conditions. B. The support from government.
C. Hydrogen production technology. D. Well-developed public transports.
26. What can be inferred about green hydrogen in Spain according to Lepercq?
A. It is highly priced. B. It is easy to store. C. It is competitive. D. It is highly-polluting.
27. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Spain manages to use zero-carbon electricity. B. Spain struggles to lead EU in heavy industry.
C. Spain takes the lead in preventing air pollution. D. Spain replaces fossil fuel with green hydrogen.

(2023上·黑龙江哈尔滨·高三哈尔滨市第一中学校校联考期末) The groundbreaking Shaoxing Opera
adaptation, New Dragon Gate Inn, captures the interest of a new generation and brings the ancient art form for
contemporary lifestyles back to life.
Unlike the traditional framed stage, the theater is designed as an inn, with the audience becoming guests. They
sit close to the performers, engaging with them, and immersing themselves in a unique and fascinating viewing
experience. “This places new demands on our performers,” said Xu Yena, who acts in the show as the A cast of Jin
Xiangyu, the landlady of the inn. “We need to abandon many of the stylized movements from traditional Shaoxing
Opera and learn from drama and film performances, adopting a more natural, authentic, and subtle acting style.”
Upon leaving the theater, these audience members feel a sense of satisfaction that prompts them to willingly
share short clips of the performance online. The fragmented (零碎的) content of performance has generated manystreams and clicks, leading to high demand for show tickets, especially among young audiences. “Now, the ticket
competition has become fierce and only those with fast internet access can get them,” said Chen Lijun, who plays
the important supporting role of Jia Ting.
As both Xiaobaihua (a Shaoxing Opera troupe (剧团)) and Japan’s renowned Takarazuka Revue are all-female
troupes, some internet users have drawn parallels between the two, likening Chen to “China’s Amami Yuki”, a
former acclaimed male-role actress in the Japanese troupe.
In response, Chen said, “All good performances are worth learning from. Our two troupes share many
similarities, but there are also fundamental differences, rooted in the cultural heritage of our respective theatrical
traditions.”
A report by Xinhua News Agency states that Generation Z makes up 74 percent of consumers of guochao
goods or China-chic goods last year. As a cultural product, New Dragon Gate Inn has successfully won the hearts
of the young generation due to the contemporary nature of the show.
“Shaoxing Opera once borrowed and learned from Peking Opera and Kunqu Opera. Today, we draw
inspiration from a broader range of artistic forms and expression techniques,” Xu said.
“New Dragon Gate Inn has successfully drawn many nontraditional theatergoers, particularly young people.
Seeking novelty has always been what Shaoxing Opera has been doing.”
28. Who became a new challenge for the performers while they were acting in Shaoxing Opera?
A. The internet users making comparison online.
B. The other troupe performing more natural and authentic.
C. The audience positioned right next to the performers.
D. The guests immersing themselves on the central stage.
29. How did Chen respond to her nickname “China’s Amami Yuki”?
A. By joyfully accepting it. B. By objectively clarifying it.
C. By politely denying it. D. By respectfully using it.
30. According to Xu Yena, Shaoxing Opera has made a positive step in regaining its popularity, mainly depending
on __________.
A. Adaptation and advertisement. B. Specially designed theater.
C. Actresses’ popularity online. D. Integration and innovation.
31. What can be a suitable title for the text?
A. Generation Z Dominates The Market of Guocao.
B. New Dragon Gate Inn Returns to Live Stage.C. Shaoxing Opera’s Modern Twist Wows Youth.
D. Nontraditional Theatergoers Flood into Theater.

Copper was the first metal worked by human beings. They hammered it into jewellery and ornaments as much
as 11,000 years ago. Today, Homo sapiens uses more than 20m tonnes of the stuff a year, much of it in buildings
and electrical infrastructure. More will be required in coming decades, to meet the need for widespread
electrification brought about by the transition to less carbon-intensive economies. Copper is an essential part of
batteries, motors and charging equipment. Solar and wind installations use more copper than their fossil-fuel
counterparts, and electric vehicles contain four times more copper than do cars with combustion engines.
This has spurred interest in new sources of the metal, most of which comes at the moment from rocks dug out
of vast opencast mines that are then ground up and processed to release the copper they contain, typically about 1%
of their mass.
Metal-rich nodules scattered across various parts of the ocean floor are a possibility. But exploiting these
brings technological and regulatory difficulties, and is in any case controversial because of the damage it would do
to deep-ocean ecosystems. Jon Blundy of Oxford University, however, offers an alternative. This is to extract, from
deep under Earth’s surface, the mineral-rich brines from which ores of copper and other valuable metals are
generated in the first place. As Dr Blundy points out, “pretty much all of the non-ferrous natural resources that we
exploit come ultimately from ancient volcanoes.”
In particular, in 2015, he and his colleagues worked out the chemical details of how copper-sulphide ores form
when sulphur-rich gases rise through the plumbing of active volcanoes and encounter metal rich brines trapped in
rocks sitting just above pockets of magma.
Modern mining operations dig up examples of these ores that formed millions or billions of years ago. Dr Blundy
proposes instead to cut out the middleman and go straight to the deep copper-rich fluids themselves.
32. Which can we infer from paragraph 1?
A. Copper is needed more in the future in a variety of fields.
B. Jewellery and ornaments were made by copper 11,000 years ago.
C. Fossil-fuel will be replaced by copper in solar and wind installations.
D. People uses 20m tonnes of copper a year in buildings and electrical infrastructure.
33. What is the current difficulty in exploiting copper from the ocean?
A. It is dug out of vast mines. B. It is challenging technically and is hard to regulate.
C. It is scattered across the ocean floor. D. It needs to be processed to release copper.
34. Which is the main idea of this passage?
A. People may one day drill for copper as they now drill for oil.
B. An essential metal in carbon-intensive economies.
C. Copper: The best way to replace fossil fuel.
D. How to solve the difficulty in exploiting copper.35. What information will probably be provided following the last paragraph?
A. The importance of deep copper-rich fluids.
B. The reason why the new way is worthy attention.
C. The amount of copper across in the ocean.
D. Suggestions that government should adopt to solve the copper shortage.

(2023上·广西南宁·高三南宁二中校考阶段练习) Comfort foods are typically energy-dense, high-fat, and
sweet, such as chocolate, ice cream and French fries. They provide pleasure or temporarily make us feel better.
3 6
●Self-medication.
There seems to be a consistent connection between negative emotions and unhealthy foods, a phenomenon
called emotional eating. In a bad mood, people are drawn to unhealthy foods (sugary and fatty) as a coping
approach. 3 7 However, one study found that although comfort foods provide some relief from negative
moods, so do other foods or even eating no food at all.
●The need to belong.
We tend to associate certain foods with members of our family, social gatherings and people taking care of us.
So when we feel lonely we desire these foods to give us comfort and security. 3 8 For example, for a college
student away from home for the first time, comfort foods may serve as a reminder of family or friends in times of
stress or isolation. Evidence showed that people with positive family relationships were more likely than others to
reach for comforting foods on the days when they felt lonely.
●Special occasion.
3 9 The excuse reflects a dilemma. From a short-term perspective, the indulgence (纵情享受) is the best
choice, but from a long-term perspective, healthy eating is the best choice. The ideal solution is to somehow do
both. 40 If the situation can be framed as the “last time”, then the dilemma disappears, since the person can
say to himself that a new and better life will begin tomorrow.
A. This is impossible, except in one situation.
B. This is because we feel comforted when we are full.
C. However, as it is ideal, it’s impossible for most people.
D. Here are some factors that can contribute to comfort eating.
E. In contrast, people in a positive mood tend to choose healthy foods.F. We tend to go for special, often unhealthy, foods on celebratory occasions.
G. That is, comfort food’s power may lie in the associations it calls to mind.

(2023上·安徽合肥·高三合肥一中校联考阶段练习) 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,
使之构成一篇完整的短文。
“Daddy, I want to ask your permission to study in America,” I said to my father a few months before my
graduation from high school. But hardly before I finished, he shouted, “No!”
“But why?” I replied. “If you are worried about money, it will be OK since I have got a scholarship…”
But he refused to give in. At the moment, I didn’t know what to say. For more than two years, I had been
working very hard to pass all the necessary examinations. I had not told my father because I wanted to give him a
pleasant surprise. I thought he would be very proud of me because it was many of my classmates’ parents’ dream to
send their children to study abroad.
“Why do I have to get your permission? I am already 18 and I’m not a kid anymore.” I said angrily and rushed
to my bedroom, shutting the door violently. Blinded by anger, I found that I could not stay at my hometown any
longer. Late that night, I slipped out of the house and decided to take the bus to the railway station to start my own
life as far away from my home as possible.
The bus stop was just two blocks away from my home. When I got there, I found that I forgot to take any
money with me and missed the last bus. I did not want to go back home, so I sat down on the bench and closed my
eyes to have a break.
Suddenly, I was woken up by my phone. I looked around and found the road was deserted and the street wasso quiet that I regretted that I had left home in such a hurry. I picked up the phone and answered the phone even
without checking the number.
“Have you had a good sleep? It’s going to rain. Shall we go home now?”

why they eat raw food (1).
Text 2

M: No, even better. A dog.
W: That’s a bad idea. Look outside. It’s snowing. Do you think she wants to walk a dog in the snow?
Text 3
M: What do you like to do on Mother’s Day? See a movie?
W: I usually just stay home and rest.
M: Why don’t you eat at a restaurant with your kids (3)?

Text 4
W: Look, Mark. I hurt my knee during the gym class.
M: If I were you. I’d ask our teacher for leave (4) and go to the hospital right now.
W: I’d better do as you say.
Text 5
M: It has been sunny these days. We are planning a picnic tomorrow.
W: But the weather forecast said there would be a chance of showers.
M: Really? Oh, no. The wind is strong outside now (5). Maybe we should reconsider our plan.
Text 6
W: Hello! Thanks for meeting me here today. This space seems perfect for your new office needs, doesn’t it?
M: It does look great. What can you tell me about it?
W: Well, the walls have all been recently painted (6). There are two separate bathrooms, one for men and
the other for women. The main area is 300 square feet, and the private office is about 20 square feet.
M: Well, that does match what we’re looking for, but my main concern is the rent (7).
W: 1,000 dollars per month.
Text 7
M: Are you not feeling well? I heard that you took time off yesterday to go to the hospital.
W: Yes, I have an allergic reaction to my face. I was going to ask you to accompany me to the hospital. But
my mom asked my sister to go with me (8).
M: What did the doctor say? Are you allergic to seafood?
W: No. I thought I was allergic to mangoes, but I never thought the doctor would say I was allergic to dust
(9)!
M: That’s really not very common. You must take care of yourself in the future.
Text 8M: Hi, Maria, what book are you looking for?
W: Hi, Michael. The one Professor Hughes recommended in his class. He said it’s a very good reference
book (10).
M: Then I think you’d better have it. It must be of great help (11).
W: Yes, but the problem is that it costs 50 dollars. I could hardly afford it.
M: Have you gone to the school library to search for it?
W: Yes, of course, but I couldn’t find it. I even asked the librarian to help me, but there wasn’t a copy in the
library. You know, there are 40 students in my class, and everyone wants the book. I don’t know what to do now.
M: Listen, my roommate Noah took the course last term. I remember he has a copy. I’ll borrow it from
him for you (12).
W: Thanks a lot. That’s very kind of you.
Text 9
W: Hello, I’m moving to Liverpool next month and I’ve got a job at the children’s hospital (13). So I need to
find a place to live near there.
M: I’d recommend you a block called Broadgreen.
W: Can you tell me more about the area? I have a car but I’d rather use other forms of transport to go to the
hospital.
M: This area has a very good bus service (14) and a train service.
W: The bus sounds good (14). I come from London and parking can be a real problem there.
M: Yeah, my sister lives in London and she has to pay for parking in her own street! You’ll be glad to hear
we don’t have that problem here (15).
W: Good. What are the rents like?
M: The weekly rent here is around £120, much cheaper than that in London.
W: Great! There has to be some disadvantage to it. I think there’s a lot of noise in the area or something.
M: Not at all. Though some people do find they have to travel a bit to go shopping (16).
Text 10
M: The most unforgettable experience I’ve ever had? Well, that was three years ago when I was in college, I
spent a term studying in London. Even though we speak the same language (17), English people and
Americans are very different. They think that we Americans are friendly (18) and that we have a strong desire
to be successful and rich. And I think the British are quiet and gentle. I love the lifestyle there. Going out for
afternoon tea was fun (19), and I always did that with my friends. And I really love the old buildings. We don’thave anything that old in the United States, so it is pretty amazing (20)! By the way, I also went to Australia
once. The buildings there aren’t so attractive either. The British also have a different sense of humor, Their comedy
shows on TV are really funny, I’d like to say my experience was a positive one, In fact, I’m saving up money so I
can go back there again.

the stop stood my father in the shadows. Then I realized that my father had been standing there all the time.
Perhaps, he knew it would be useless to argue with his stubborn little girl. What he could do was waiting for my
anger to die away. At first, I wanted to ignore him, but his voice sounded so assuring in the frightening quietness ofnight!
I grabbed my bag and hurried toward him. On the way home, my father explained apologetically that he was
caught off guard by the news and that he was very worried about my safety if I would go so far away alone. “Now I
have realized that you have grown up and it is time for you to chase your dream. I will give my permission as long
as you promise to live on campus and will not slip away when you are angry in the US,” my father said with
resignation.
