1.The three astronauts on the Shenzhou XIV mission returned to Earth on Sunday evening after a six-month
mission that completed the in-orbit assembly of the Tiangong space station.
A re-entry capsule carrying the crew — Senior Colonel Chen Dong, the mission commander, Senior Colonel
Liu Yang and Senior Colonel Cai Xuzhe — touched down on Earth at the Dongfeng Landing Site in northwestern
China’s Gobi Desert at 8:09 p.m. after flying nearly nine hours in a re-entry orbit. This has become the first time
that Chinese astronauts have returned to Earth at night. Ground recovery personnel soon opened the hatch (舱口)
of the capsule and then conducted basic examination on the astronauts’ condition. The crew members told them
that they “are feeling very good.”
After preparatory work, ground personnel carried out the astronauts one by one to place them onto chairs in
front of the capsule. A lot of equipment used in the recovery operation had been added with additional cold-proof
layers to resist against the chilly temperatures in the landing region, as low as minus 14 degrees Celsius. In their
chairs, the astronauts shared their feelings with a group of domestic reporters, saying they are proud of the
motherland and the country’s space programs. Then they were moved into special care vehicles to take health
checks. Carrying Chen’s team, the Shenzhou XIV spacecraft separated from the Tiangong station at 11:01 a.m. on
Sunday. On Friday evening, the Shenzhou XIV team handed over the control of the Tiangong station to the
Shenzhou XV crew.
Chen’s crew is the third group of visitors to the Chinese station, one of the largest pieces of infrastructure that
mankind has ever arranged in Earth’s orbit. The three astronauts were launched from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch
Center in the northwestern Gobi Desert on June 5 and arrived at Tiangong later that day.
After the departure of Shenzhou XIV, the Tiangong station currently consists of the Tianhe core module, the
Wentian and Mengtian lab modules, the Shenzhou XV spacecraft and the Tianzhou 5 cargo ship. The station is
now manned by the Shenzhou XV mission crew — Major General Fei Junlong, Senior Colonel Deng Qingming
and Senior Colonel Zhang Lu, who arrived on Wednesday.

2.主题语境:文章介绍了新冠疫情以来,美国人的预期寿命下降了。重点单词:dramatic 戏剧性的;factor因素;restriction限制;
Despite the life-saving COVID-19 vaccines (疫苗), so many people died in the second year of the pandemic
in the US that the nation’s life expectancy dropped for a second year in a row last year, according to a new
analysis.
The analysis of government statistics found US life expectancy fell by just under half a year in 2021, adding
to a dramatic drop in life expectancy that occurred in 2020. Dr. Steven Woolf, a professor of population health and
health expert at Virginia Commonwealth University, who helped conduct the analysis, said many of the deaths
occurred in people in the prime of their lives. And Woolf added that it drove the overall US life expectancy to fall
to 76.6 years—the lowest in at least 25 years.
“Shame on the US,” said Noreen Goldman, a professor at Princeton University. The 2021 drop came after US
life expectancy fell in 2020, dropping by almost two years. It’s unclear why this happened, but Woolf and others
thought it may be due in part to some Americans more likely to live in states with fewer restrictions, so they let
down their guard more, while often refusing to get vaccinated.
“The deaths that occurred in 2021 were a product not only of a lack of COVID-19 vaccines, which was a
factor, but also being in places that didn’t observe policies like masking and social distancing that prevented
spread of the virus, which was the main reason,” Woolf said.
The 2021 drop also widened the gap in life expectancy between the US and other countries, the analysis
found. That was due primarily to lower vaccination rates in the US, researchers said. The researchers also said a
big part of that was fewer restrictions and more vaccine hesitation in the US, which resulted in lower vaccination
rates and a much higher death number. The other health problems like heart attack and overweight also played a
role, they said.
“We spent a fortune on medical care and we’re a high-income country. Our government should be able to do
far better,” Goldman said.
5.What was America’s life expectancy before COVID-19?
A.About 79.1 years. B.About 78.6 years.
C.About 77.1 years. D.About 76.6 years.
6.What played an important role in leading the high death rate in the US?
A.Lack of medicine. B.Powerful virus.
C.Violation of anti-epidemic policies. D.The government’s negative act.
7.Which column of a magazine can this text come from?
A.Politics. B.Science. C.Education. D.Health.
8.What is Goldman’s attitude toward the government?
A.Unsatisfied. B.Objective. C.Supportive. D.Unconcerned.【答案】5.A 6.C 7.D 8.A

And Woolf added that it drove the overall US life expectancy to fall to 76.6 years—the lowest in at least
25 years.( Woolf
The 2021 drop came after US
life expectancy fell in 2020, dropping by almost two years.(2021 年的下降是在 2020 年美国预期寿命下降近
故选A项。
The deaths that occurred in 2021 were a product not only of a lack of
COVID-19 vaccines, which was a factor, but also being in places that didn’t observe policies like masking and
social distancing that prevented spread of the virus, which was the main reason,” Woolf said.( Woolf 说:“2021
根据文章第一段中的“Despite the life-saving COVID-19 vaccines (疫苗), so many people
died in the second year of the pandemic in the US that the nation’s life expectancy dropped for a second year in a
row last year, according to a new analysis.(根据一项新的分析,尽管有挽救生命的 COVID-19 疫苗,但美国

重点单词:disturb 扰乱;
I’ve spent a long time thinking about one of the lessons life has to offer uncertainty. I often hear,“ Nothing
could have prepared us for this pandemic.” While it came as a surprise, some of us have had to deal with times of
great uncertainty before.
This was the case for my family when my father began falling over. We would blame the ice. Then just the
road.“ Who makes these things so high?” we wondered. Then, he slowed. He began to drag his feet.“ Well,” we
said,“ he’s getting older.”
When his speech became worse, it became harder to explain. When did he last see a doctor anyway? Wesearched the Internet as he worsened—because we felt real medical attention was not required.
Uncertainty.
It’ s uncomfortable. It makes your stomach tighten. If you don’ t fight it, it will seep through (渗入)your
body, lighting your brain up with anxiety. When a neurologist(神经病学家) explained the problem, it wasn’t what
we wanted to hear. Instead, we opened a Pandora’ s box of even more unknowns.
When we found out he had AIS (肌肉萎缩性侧面硬化病)the uncertainty became a burden. He was losing
control of his muscles, his speech, ability to swallow—and we were paralyzed on how to prepare.
ALS is cruel. It traps you in your body. When the future looks so dark, you have to take comfort in the tiniest
pleasures. I wish I’d done more. But I was new to uncertainty. I’d never experienced such a lack of control. I was
focused on solving problem that couldn’t be solved.
I worried about how my father would get worse. I read everything I could to try and help his situation, but
there was nothing I could do. But my dad didn’t live long enough for me to prepare for his condition to get worse.
Life doesn’t go according to plan and there is a difference between preparation and worry.
As we battle global uncertainty, it is teaching us the same lesson. A lesson about humility (谦卑) . About the
fact that you cannot save something you love alone. If COVID -19 is disturbing everyone, we should consider
what we can learn. These lessons are hard, teaching us to hold on to what matters and how to let go.
13.Why is the pandemic mentioned in the beginning ?
A.To explain its impact on the author’s life.
B.To lead up to the topic of uncertainty.
C.To show how the author got used to it.
D.To tell the lessons the author learned from it.
14.How did the author feel after his / her father was diagnosed with ALS ?
A.Anxious B.Peaceful C.Annoyed D.Optimistic
15.What can we conclude about uncertainty from the article ?
A.It makes people stronger. B.It leads to a lack of control.
C.It brings family closer to each other. D.It can remove the darkness in life.
16.What is the lesson mentioned in the last paragraph ?
A.Be humble to the unknown. B.Prepare for uncertainty in advance.
C.Express our love before it’s too late. D.Cherish what matters and learn to let go.
【答案】13.B 14.A 15.B 16.D

uncertainty. I often hear,“ Nothing could have prepared us for this pandemic.”
ALS is cruel. It traps you in your body. When the future looks so dark, you
have to take comfort in the tiniest pleasures. I wish I’d done more. But I was new to uncertainty. I’d never
experienced such a lack of control. I was focused on solving problem that couldn’t be solved.
I worried about how my father would get worse. I read everything I could to try and
help his situation, but there was nothing I could do.
答案为A。
But I was new to uncertainty. I’d never experienced such a lack of control. I
was focused on solving problem that couldn’t be solved.
根据最后一段“A lesson about humility (谦卑) . About the fact that you cannot save
something you love alone. If COVID -19 is disturbing everyone, we should consider what we can learn. These
lessons are hard, teaching us to hold on to what matters and how to let go.
重点单词:potential 潜力;interaction交流;
Ken Hanes, owner of AGL Drone (无人机) Services, was driving from Colorado Springs to Denver when he
turned on the radio and learned that the Mayor of Denver made an order closing down bars and restaurants to fight
the spread of COVID-19. He then learned that Colorado Springs had declared a state of emergency and that the
governor had ordered statewide closures to limit group gatherings.“Before COVID-19, I’d never heard of social distancing, but it’s now part of my daily vocabulary and has
found a place in my drone business” Hanes says. “I realized on that drive to Denver that I practice social
distancing every day in my business but didn’t realize it. My job allows me the unique opportunity to provide
information to my clients with absolutely no face-to-face interaction. I have the ability to travel to a location and
fly the drone to collect the information I need without ever interfacing with anyone, and the electronic
deliverables I provide allow unlimited distribution to interested parties anywhere in the world.”
Hanes reflects on what many in the commercial drone industry have realized — drones are ideal for
facilitating social distancing and have significant potential to assist with the public safety and economic impacts
of COVID-19. As explained by Luke Fox, founder and CEO of WhiteFox Drone Technologies, “Drones are
critical in the fight against COVID-19. This technology can work as a force multiplier to ensure people get
medical supplies, food, and other life-saving tasks all while minimizing potentially infectious (感染的) human
contact. As drones continue to take to the sky, WhiteFox is working to create a safe, trusted, and secure airspace.”
“There are many use cases for drones that can aid the nation from delivering test kits to areas in need to
delivering medical goods to quarantined individuals, and much more. We provide essential services that can
mitigate the need for extensive human interaction and can speed up logistics (后勤保障), could help prevent the
spread of the disease and enhance efficiencies as personnel are forced to stay home,” Hanes says.
17.What is the theme of the text?
A.The necessity of practicing social distancing.
B.The advantages of drones in fighting COVID-19.
C.The government measures in fighting COVID-19.
D.The opportunity for the commercial drone industry.
18.What’s special about Hanes’ s job?
A.It is limited to a certain location.
B.It requires more time for business travel.
C.It is done without face-to-face interaction.
D.It is mainly for delivering medical supplies.
19.How does Luke Fox feel about the future of WhiteFox?
A.Doubtful. B.Anxious. C.Confident. D.Hopeless.
20.What does the underlined word “mitigate” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.Witness. B.Predict. C.Analyze. D.Reduce.

As more Americans are vaccinated (接种疫苗) against COVID-19, reunions among loved ones are becoming
increasingly frequent and, for many, hugging is the main event.
Alcantara, a student at Loyola Marymount University, US, and her grandmother live a 25-minute drive apart
in the San Fernando Valley. But they hadn’t been in the same room since February 2020.
When Alcantara graduated from high school last spring, she stood on her grandma’s front porch in her cap
and gown (学位服), so the older woman, her only living grandparent, could see her through the window.
But by April 3, her grandmother’s 95th birthday, Alcantara had been fully vaccinated. They could safely
embrace. “It felt like time hadn’t really moved, but I know so much time has passed,” said Alcantara. “Just putting
her head over my head, I just felt so warm and so loved.”
Many of the newly vaccinated can recall their first hugs. Those who declared themselves non-huggers before2020 say they’ve been transformed by a year of “touch deprivation (剥夺)”. Some friends are going so far as to
plan hug dates. Most humans expect physical touch from friends and family and feel they need it to maintain their
close relationships, experts say. Hugs are a way of saying hello, offering support, asking for love, sharing joy and
communicating emotions that may not be translated into words.
For most of the past year, people were warned to stay six feet away from everyone outside their household.
But as vaccinations picked up pace, it was believed that it’s safe for vaccinated people to be in close contact with
small numbers of other people.
That opened the door for hugging. Grandmother and grand-daughter plan to restart their Saturday dates.
There will be more hugs.
21.When could Alcantara and her grandmother have healthy contact with each other?
A.Since February 2020. B.By the time Alcantara graduated.
C.Before April 3. D.Since her grandmother’s 95th birthday.
22.What made those Americans declaring themselves non-huggers before 2020 change?
A.They recalled their first hugs.
B.They were newly vaccinated.
C.They were going to plan hug dates.
D.They had been unable to touch others for a year.
23.Which of the following is NOT the benefit of hugging mentioned in the article?
A.Greeting others. B.Sharing happiness.
C.Asking for advice. D.Providing support.
24.Which of the following can be used as the best title of the article?
A.A year of “touch deprivation”. B.Reopen the door of embrace.
C.Vaccinated against COVID-19. D.Alcantara and her considerate grandmother.

接触。故选D。
根据第五段第一句话“ Those who declared themselves non-huggers before 2020 saythey’ve been transformed by a year of “touch deprivation (剥夺)”.(那些在2020年之前宣布自己不是拥抱者的
Most humans expect physical touch from friends and family and
feel they need it to maintain their close relationships, experts say. Hugs are a way of saying hello, offering
support, asking for love, sharing joy and communicating emotions that may not be translated into words.(专家表
That opened the door for hugging. Grandmother and grand-
daughter plan to restart their Saturday dates. There will be more hugs.(这为拥抱打开了大门。
B。
