2022·黑龙江一模 说明文 290词 ★★☆☆☆
We all love animals, but animals don't feel the same way about us. When we enter their wild
world, we are “unnatural” invaders into their homes.
There was a video many of you may have seen on the Internet recently of a bear and its cub
(幼崽) climbing up a steep, snow-covered hill in Russia. The mama bear makes it to the top
without too much trouble, but the baby bear keeps sliding back down. It takes three attempts to
reach the top and, no doubt, many cheered at the cub's never-give-up spirit. But nature
scientists who saw the video didn't cheer.
Instead, the scientists were upset that the two bears had been frightened into making a
dangerous, unnecessary climb by the drone (无人机) that was filming them. Sophie Gilbert of the
University of Idaho said, “It showed a complete lack of understanding from the drone operator of
the effects his actions were having on the bears.” Other scientists have found that when a drone is
hovering near, a bear's heart rate can increase from 41 beats per minute to 162 beats per minute—a
high enough rate to cause a heart attack.
Human disturbance has actually been having a far - reaching influence on wildlife.
Researchers at the University of Berkeley recently found that many mammals(哺乳动物) are
turning into “night owls” again to avoid contact with humans. Such a shift might not only affect
those species themselves, but also have numerous chain effects.
We human beings find ourselves in a strange position in nature. We are part of it but also
separate from it, now more than ever, since most of us live in cities. So, when we go off hiking
into wild areas to “re-connect” with nature, we should go softly and considerately. It's OK to
get close to our animal friends, just not too close—we wouldn't want to scare them, would we?

C.They knew the cause of the bears' climbing.
D.They lacked understanding of the drone operator.
3.What may be the effect of human disturbance on wildlife?
A.Food shortage.
B.Changing habitats.
C.Ecological imbalance.
D.Less contact with humans.
4.What does the author seem to agree with?
A.Lose connection with schools.
B.Respect the human-animal distance.

The UK's first fully solar-powered home, which removes the need to ever receive a gas or
electricity bill again, has gone on sale, but it will cost you £1.2 million.
The timber-framed home in Great Glen, Leicestershire, contains a number of “zero-
carbon features” including solar electric energy, triple glazing(三层玻璃) and rainwater storage.
It is entirely heated by underground water-filled tubes that are warmed by solar energy from
rooftop panels. The house was designed and built by Caplin Homes and covers two acres of land.
The design and construction, down to the materials, were used specifically for their low carbon
footprint.
The solar panels on the roof of the five-bedroom house are called hybrids because they
collect both electrical and thermal (热的) energy. Solar walls preheat (预热) incoming air, and an
Earth Energy Bank (EEB) and heat pump can store heat, and get it back for use when temperatures
drop. The south-facing triple-glazed windows are said to also improve the house's energy
management during the winter.
All the technologies are regulated by a control system, which monitors the inside and outside
temperatures, how much energy is being received by the solar panels, and the heat levels in the
EEB domestic hot water tank. Due to its low energy design, the Solar House is expected to only
require heat from the EEB for about 10 weeks of the year.
For £1.2 million, buyers also get two garages. Estate agent Anthony Fox said the possibility
of no bills for gas or electricity was a big draw for potential owners: the idea is that your bills
pretty much disappear and the house is self-sustaining and self-sufficient. That was a big aspect
for most of the people who came to have a look around. “Everyone was very keen to learn how the
house worked.” He added.
5.Which is true about the UK's first fully solar-powered home?
A.It is directly heated by rooftop panels.
B.It has a set of heat-storage devices available.
C.Its walls can keep cold air from coming in to store heat.
D.The triple-glazed windows collect electrical and thermal energy.
6.What is mainly talked about in Paragraph 4?
A.The monitoring of the temperature.B.The function of the control system.
C.The amount of the received energy.
D.The significance of new technologies.
7.What's a big attraction for potential buyers according to Anthony Fox?
A.No gas or electricity bill.
B.Two additional garages.
C.The reasonable price.
D.The unique scenery.
8.What is the main purpose of the text?
A.To advertise a zero-carbon factory.
B.To recommend an amazing park.
C.To introduce a solar-powered house.
D.To explain how a low-energy car works.

Peter, a 5yearold boy, showed such great interest in sea shells that he would rush to pick them
up with his 3yearold sister, Shirley. They screamed out in joy as Peter collected his treasure into
his pockets. For Peter, sea shells lying shinning on the peaceful beach, waiting for him, were just
like stars twinkling (闪烁) in the sky. As waves touched them, they seemed to be flowers
blooming (绽放) in gentle wind.
One day, Peter was wandering through a market with Shirley, with some shells in his pocket.
Suddenly Peter found his younger sister was lagging (落后) behind him. He stopped and looked
back, finding Shirley was standing in front of a toy shop and was staring at something with great
interest.
The boy went back to her and asked, “What do you want?” Shirley pointed at the doll,
wearing a smile on her innocent face. Peter held his younger sister's tiny hand, walking into the
shop. He tiptoed (踮起脚尖) to reach for the doll, and like a responsible elder brother, gave the
precious doll to Shirley. Holding tightly the doll, the sister was very very happy.
The shopkeeper was watching everything and amused to see the matured (成熟的) behavior
of the boy. Then the boy came to the counter and asked the shopkeeper, “How much does this
doll cost, Sir?”
The shopkeeper was a friendly man, who had always been loving kids in his life. So he asked
the boy with love and affection, “Well, what can you pay?” Peter reached into his clothes for
money that was intended for these two little guys' breakfast. Having counted the money, Peter put
it carefully on the counter, asking again, “Sir, is it enough for my little sister's doll?”
The amusing scene just in front of the shopkeeper eventually brought a smile to his face.
Shaking his head slightly, he replied, “My boy, I am afraid it seems not to be enough.”
