听力部分录音材料
(Text 1)
M:Beautiful day, isn't it?
W:Yes, it's not like what the TV said at all.
M:I wish it would stay this way for the weekend. I dislike snowing.
(Text 2)
M:Hello, is there a flight leaving for London at 11:00 am?
W:Nothing round that time, but there are flights leaving at 10:20 am and 11:45 am.
M:All right, I'll take the earlier one.(Text 3)
M:Hi, I'm new at this college and I'm looking for somewhere to stay. An apartment
would be my first choice.
W:We have houses for rent and some single rooms. I will check to see if I can find
something more suitable for you.
(Text 4)
W:Jade! You look stressed. What's wrong?
M:I feel upset. Mr Green got angry with me this morning, because I didn't turn in my
homework.
W:Come on! You should be serious with your homework like me.
(Text 5)
M:Let's stop fighting over the bill. Have I already told you it's my treat today? You can
just get it next time we eat.
W:No, no, my credit card is already taken out here. I ordered way more than you did, so
I should cover it this time.
(Text 6)
W:Hey, Sam, what happened to you? Don't tell me you broke your leg!
M:No, it's not that terrible. I just twisted my ankle. Still, it hurts a lot.
W:So when did it happen?
M:It was during the night of the basketball championship. And the worst thing is that we
lost the game and all hopes of winning our title back.
W:What a pity! Sit down here for a minute and tell me all about it.
M:OK.
(Text 7)
M:Karen, what about going to the cinema tonight? There's a new movie starred by
Scarlett Johansson on now.
W:I'd really love to. I'm a big fan of her movies, you know. But I've already made
plans.
M:So what will you do tonight?
W:I'm going to watch the Wausau West Pop Concert.
M:Will some popular bands or folk singers come to give performances?W:Not really. It's an annual music production featuring members from Wausau West High
School's music programs. The one-hour show is filled with music from the 1940s up
through today's most popular songs.
M:Sounds interesting. Can I go with you?
W:Certainly.
(Text 8)
W:Do you know Nat King Cole?
M:You mean the pop singer? Yeah. What about him?
W:In his song Smile, he tells people to smile through heartbreak. But now, research
suggests that false happiness may just make things worse.
M:Really? Tell me more about it.
W:Researchers took pictures of bus drivers and then looked into the expressions on their
faces.
M:They did? What happened then?
W:After following the drivers closely, researchers found that the drivers had to force a
smile at work. They felt so bad that they wanted to give up their jobs.
M:I never imagined it could be so serious. Why is that?
W:The report says when people try to hold back bad feelings, it turns out that the
feelings become even stronger and last longer.
M:Look at my face. Do I smile a real smile?
(Text 9)
M:Hey. Hey. Hey! You can't do that. That's not fair.
W:What do you mean? You parked your car in a no-parking area. Look, there's a sign
right there that says “No parking between the hours of 7 am through 6 pm.”
M:Oh, that one? Those tree branches are covering it.
W:Sorry, you're going to have to take that complaint up with the city. I'm just doing my
job. Anyway, you can clearly see it once you get out of your car.
M:But, but... my car was only here for five minutes. I had to just run into this building
to drop off some clothing at the homeless shelter.
W:Sir. The homeless shelter? It's six blocks down the road. Anyway, look, here's your
ticket, and the address where you can pick up your car is found on the back.M:What? A hundred and fifty dollars?
W:Sorry. Don't park your car illegally!
M:So, you mean that you're going to have my car pulled away. I'm standing right here.
W:Yes, have a good day.
(Text 10)
W:Eating the right kind of food can make a big difference when you are preparing
for and taking an exam. Are you surprised? The food you eat affects how you think,
sleep and feel among other things. So, what should you eat?
Brain power comes from energy. Good energy foods are things like bread, rice, and
noodles. Food with a lot of sugar, like chocolate, sweets, or cake, are not usually a good
choice for increasing your energy. They will give you some energy very quickly, but then
your energy will quickly drop, and you'll be more tired than before, with more weight
than before!
Drink lots of water when you are studying! Studies show that drinking lots of water
makes it easier to concentrate, to get and remember information, to do math in your head
and to avoid headaches! On the morning of an exam, drink lots of water but not too
soon before the exam. You do not want to be uncomfortable in the middle of your exam
because you need to use the toilet! Avoid drinking much coffee, tea, or Coke to help you
stay up late and study. They'll make you even more tired the next day.
On the evening before your exam, have some good food like rice, noodles, potatoes,
or bread to help you get a good night's sleep, as well as a glass of milk. In the morning,
have a good breakfast—eggs, bread and porridge—to give your brain plenty of energy to
think clearly. If you're feeling really nervous and can't eat much, have a few bananas.
They're good energy fruit!
Boys and girls! Best wishes for success on all your exams!

CDo phone calls from long-lost friends really excite you? You're not alone. A new
study finds people often underestimate how much their old friends will appreciate
receiving a call from them out of the blue. Meanwhile, the friend receiving the message
placed a much higher value on the surprise social interaction. The study featured several
experiments involving over 5,900 people, looking at what factors play into the amount of
appreciation someone feels when others contact them.
In one experiment, study authors asked half of the participants to remember the last
time they contacted someone in their social circle after not speaking with them for a
really long time. The rest of the group took the opposite approach, remembering when a
long-lost friend reached out to them.
The two groups then had to rate on a seven-point scale (量表) (1 meaning “not at
all” and 7 meaning “to a great extent”) how much the person receiving this
communication appreciated, or felt grateful, or pleased about the message. For people
making the call, this meant guessing how much their friend enjoyed hearing from them.
For the people receiving the call, they simply had to rate how much they appreciated
hearing from a long-lost pal. Results show the people reaching out significantly underrated
their friend's appreciation when comparing the two groups.
“I sometimes pause before reaching out to people from my pre-pandemic social circle
for a variety of reasons. When that happens, I think about these research findings and
remind myself that other people may also want to reach out to me and hesitate for the
same reasons,” the lead author of the study concludes. “I then tell myself that I would
appreciate it so much if they reached out to me and that there is no reason to think they
would not similarly appreciate my reaching out to them.”
28.What were the two groups of participants asked to remember?
A.To hear or to be heard. B.To record or to be recorded.
C.To contact or to be contacted. D.To appreciate or to be appreciated.
29.Why was the seven-point scale used?
A.To calculate the time of calls.
B.To measure the attitude to communication.
C.To guarantee the fairness of the experiment.D.To figure out the degrees of appreciation or pleasure.
30.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?
A.Appreciation can become a habit.
B.Social circle stands out during the pandemic.
C.Researchers often reflect on the findings in their daily life.
D.Hesitation may make us miss our surprise and appreciation.
31.What can be the best title for the text?
A.Reach out first B.Connect for information
C.Pay attention to communication D.Understand the value of surprise

The climate crisis is melting Greenland down at an unprecedented rate, which—in a
twist of irony—is creating an opportunity for investors and mining companies that are
searching for critical minerals capable of powering the green energy transition.
A band of billionaires, including Jeff Bezos, Michael Bloomberg and Bill Gates,
among others, is betting that below the surface of the hills and valleys on Greenland
Disko Island and Nuussuaq Peninsula there are enough critical minerals to power hundreds
of millions of electric vehicles.
The billionaire club is financially backing KoBold Metals, a mineral exploration
company and California-based startup, the company's representatives told the news. Bezos,Bloomberg and Gates did not respond to the requests for comment on this story. KoBold
is partnered with Bluejay Mining to find the rare and precious metals in Greenland that
are necessary to build electric vehicles and massive batteries to store renewable energy.
“Fully electrifying the global economy is our generation's greatest challenge,” the
KoBold spokesperson said. “Partnering with this broad set of world-class investors will
accelerate our efforts to find the key materials for the EV revolution.” Thirty geologists,
geophysicists, cooks, pilots and mechanics are camped at the site where KoBold and
Bluejay are searching for the buried treasure.
The government of Greenland supports the responsible, sustainable, and economically
viable development of their natural resources, including mining of a broad range of
minerals.
“The northern melt this past week is not normal, looking at 30 to 40 years of
climate averages,” said Ted Scambos, a senior research scientist at the National Snow and
Ice Data Center at the University of Colorado. “Melting has been on the increase, and
this event was a sharp increase in melt.”
“The big concern for Arctic sea ice is that it's been disappearing over the last several
decades and it is predicted to potentially disappear in 20 to 30 years,” Nathan Kurtz, a
NASA scientist who studies sea ice, told the news. “In the fall, what used to be Artic ice
cover year-round is now just going to be seasonal ice cover.”
32.What does the underlined word “unprecedented” in paragraph 1 probably mean?
A.Unspoken-out. B.Undefined. C.Unheard-of. D.Unbalanced.
33.What's the attitude of the government of Greenland to the mining?
A.Favorable. B.Concerned. C.Ambiguous. D.Opposed.
34.How did Ted Scambos find Greenland's unusual ice melting during the past week?
A.He estimated the result of the mining.
B.He referred to the data collected before.
C.He witnessed the key materials in these areas.
D.He participated in mining the buried treasure.
35.What's the main idea of the text?
A.Climate crisis is our generation's greatest challenge.
B.More critical minerals will be explored by KoBold Metals.C.The government of Greenland benefits a lot from mining.
D.Billionaires are funding a massive treasure hunt in Greenland.

Important Library Research Tips and Tricks for Students
Research papers can be engaging and fun. But finding good sources for them might
be a challenging task, especially if you want good and genuine ones. 3 6
Schedule all the things.
The first thing is to create a schedule with a range of milestones by a particular date
and keep doing it. 3 7 For example, check out what is available in your library, pick
appropriate stuff, read it and take notes, and begin placing all the things together.
3 8
Use your time to recognize what sources, available online and offline, are better offer
for you. Several institutions give tours to students and you can speak to a research
librarian. At least, step through the library to feel what is where. Several university
libraries also have contact with many educational databases.
Mind bibliographies (参考文献).
When you discover a good educational book, or an article for your topic, it seems to
be a golden opportunity. 3 9 Especially, browse through the bibliography and write
down all the things whose title seems appropriate to your research. It should be easy
because educational authors are not that imaginative with their titles.Request for help.
4 0 Several professors use their office minutes waiting for a student, ready to
assess the sources he has gathered—be that student! And several librarians will be glad to
place specific parts of hard-to-find knowledge for you. Don't ignore requesting your
classmates for guidance, too.
A.Adopt a system.
B.Explore your resources.
C.There should be a record of dozens of references for you.
D.Follow the steps to write a powerful and influential research paper.
E.It is somewhat difficult to tell what their task is about from just the title.
F.Check out all the human sources open to you as well as the material sources.
G.Well, you need enough time to take a complete view of what stuff is out there.

One possible version:
The sport I often do
As a senior faced with college entrance exam, I make it a rule to exercise to release
pressure from my studies. The sport I often do is cycling. A rider may need some
equipment, such as a helmet to prevent head injury, gloves to make their hands
comfortable, and sunglasses to protect eyes from the sun. What's more, it can be done
alone or with others.
There are some reasons why I'm interested in cycling. First, it's cheap and healthy.
Not only does it allow me to improve my health, but it also allows me to have an intake
of fresh air while I ride. Second, I can do it with my good friends.
Thanks to cycling, I have both a healthy body and precious friendship.
第二节 (满分25分)
阅读下面材料, 根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段, 使之构成一篇完整的短文。
My mom hates to cook. She'd rather tinker with (鼓捣) her motorcycle or practice
knot tying for rock climbing. She also spends a lot of time with me. Every morning
Mom takes me to school. I put on my purple helmet and climb onto The Beast. Mom's
passion, after me and her motorcycle, is climbing. I would say “rock climbing”, but wedon't have any large rocks or mountains nearby. I used to feel embarrassed that my mom
was so different.
Now I've come to appreciate Mom for who she is—and not just because she's a
hero. It all started with a cooking project. Every student in Mrs Maitland's home
economics class was supposed to create an original dish, and then present it at school the
following Tuesday morning. I begged Mom to help me. She gave in, but not until I
promised to help her clean The Beast.
We spent hours in the kitchen. We prepared hot dogs and hard-boiled eggs rolled in
coconut. I was satisfied.
The big day came. Our parents were supposed to bring our food to the classroom at
eleven o'clock. As Mom dropped me off that morning, I made her repeat,“I will not
forget the cake. I will not forget the cake.” I watched her repeating it as she went away.
After math class, we all filed up to the third floor. I looked around for Mom. She
wasn't there. Sammy Pingle's father had brought some sort of chicken dish. Pamela Bean
and her aunt had a pitcher of liquid with lemons floating in it. Janet Greely and her
mom proudly stood near an enormous fruit salad topped with some marshmallows. Where
are you, Mom? I wondered.
The minutes ticked by and more grown-ups appeared, bringing more tasty dishes.
Finally I heard the distant roar of The Beast. I raced to the window. I was astonished.
Mom was empty-handed! I met her at the door.
“You forgot it, didn't you?”
Mom's eyes opened wide.
“I'm sor—” She couldn't finish her apology; a clanging alarm cut her off.

【答案】
One possible version:
Mrs Maitland shouted,“Fire! This is not a drill! Everyone out of the building!” We
all headed for the stairs. We found out later that Jack had been heating oil for popcorn.
He'd started talking to his classmate and had forgotten about the hot oil. When he came
to put sugar on the corn, there were flames leaping from the pan. Everyone piled into the
parking lot. Smoke started to come out of one of the third-floor windows. Mom held my
hand tightly. I forgot about my cake.
As Mrs Maitland was taking attendance, we heard a scream from the building. We
looked up and saw Jenny looking out the window of the room next to the fire. “Help!”
she cried out. “I'm trapped!” Mom disappeared. She grabbed her climbing rope from The
Beast and ran toward the building. Mom climbed to the window and secured one end of
her rope, then lowered a shaky Jenny safely to the ground. As soon as she was free,
everyone cheered. Who cares if my mom hates to cook?
