The Bike Riding Robot

Are you interested in robots? How much do you know about them? Not long ago a
new robot was made in Japan.
The robot, named Murata Boy, is very small. It’s only 11 pounds weight and 20
inches tall. It can do something that no other robot can: ride a bike without
falling. The robot looks like a schoolboy. With special sensors in its body and a
camera in its head, it can not only keep itself upright; but it can also look ahead
to make sure that it rides in a straight line.
The scientists said that all the robot’ s movements are controlled by a
computer. Murata Boy can ride about 30 inches per second. If the road gets bumpy,
the small robot will feel it and keep balance.
What can Murata Boy do for us? Maybe you won’t need to ride your bike to
school any more.
