On the way home, Ha公nnah met her friends who were interested by what she was carrying. Holding the
book tightly, her palms sweating with a mix of excitement and nervousness, she tried to explain the wonder of the
hidden books. Surrounded by her skeptical friends, Hannah, with eagerness, turned the pages, her eyes shining
with passion. “These books are full of wonderful tales,” she exclaimed, “They can take us to different places and
times!” Some friends rolled their eyes, considering her tales mere fantasies. Despite their doubts, Hannah’s
enthusiasm remained unchanged.(75 words)
Inspired by the books, she decided to share them with the villagers. Transforming the abandoned cottage
into a cozy library, Hannah arranged the books neatly. Standing at the entrance, she waited for villagers to explore
the treasure. Initially, only a few children walked in, fascinated by her vivid storytelling. Gradually, adults were
drawn in, their curiosity aroused. The once-dull village came alive. Through Hannah’s perseverance, she not only
bridged the gap between the old-fashioned and the new but also proved that knowledge, when shared, has the
power to transform lives and communities.(80 words)

M: This Thanksgiving, we’re going to prepare a holiday dinner for newcomers. We’re looking for volunteers now.
It’s difficult to find people right before a holiday. Everyone is so busy then.
W: Peter and I want to help you. I can cook.
M: Thanks, Anna. I’m going to tell my friend Sue about you. Sue and her husband, Rick, prepare holiday meals
every year in a school in their neighborhood.
W: I know. Their holiday dinners are very popular with newcomers.
M: Yes. Last year, fifty newcomers came. They didn’t have enough food. So I volunteered to help them.

W: What an interesting lesson! I’m going to search online for more information. It’s useful for our school project.
M: That’s a good idea.
W: Then we could have a discussion later, OK?
M: Sure. But first I need to go downstairs and buy a cup of coffee in the cafe. Do you need anything?
W: No, thanks. But you don’t have to go to the cafe. There’s a coffee machine on this floor.
M: I only have a $10 bill. Do you have any change?
W: I have some change, but I need it for the parking meters. There’s a dollar bill changer next to the coffee

M: No, I haven’t. Is it new?
W: No. It came out in the 1990s. But it’s very exciting. I think you’d like it.
M: Does it have a good ending?

M: Recently, I haven’t had much time to read because of school. But thanks for the offer.

W: I’ve been taking skydiving lessons lately.
M: Really? That sounds so interesting — and scary! How long have you been doing that?
W: I started taking lessons about six months ago. So far, I’ve jumped out of an airplane about 10 or 12 times.
M: You’re so brave. I can’t imagine doing that.
W: I’ve always wanted to do it, ever since I was a little girl. Before I started, I had talked to some experienced
jumpers. I learned a lot.
M: I’m glad to hear that. Is it an expensive hobby?
W: Yes. It’s very expensive. I’ve had to buy a lot of equipment over the past months. And each jump costs me
$150.
M: Wow! That’s a lot of money.
W: That’s why I’ve been working overtime a lot these days. I’ve tried to ask my husband to join me, but he’s not
interested at all.

When people think about eating food, they often think of two places: their homes or restaurants. But some very
delicious food is prepared and sold on the street as well. Street food is cheap and delicious. You can smell, taste,
and enjoy it when you travel. In Italy, there is arancini, which means “little orange,” because it looks like a little
orange. It is made with rice, meat, cheese and so on. It is covered in bread, and served warm. In the Philippines,
one popular street food is halo-halo, which means “mix-mix.” It’s a famous cold dessert made from boiled sweet
beans, fresh fruit, ice cream, and sweet milk. It is usually served in a tall glass or a bowl. Don’t miss tang hu-lu
when you are in China. This popular traditional snack contains different fruits, like oranges, strawberries, and
pineapples. The fruits are served on a bamboo stick. While traveling, look for street sellers when you get hungry.
You will enjoy cheap and delicious food you can tell your friends about.
