After reading Shark Nets, I felt deeply conflicted about shark nets. The book tells us shark nets are set up to keep swimmers safe at beaches, yet they bring huge harm to marine life. Many sharks, turtles, dolphins and even whale calves get trapped and drown in the nets. It’s heartbreaking to see baby whales die while their mothers can only watch helplessly.

The shark spotter program offers a kinder way to warn people of sharks without hurting sea creatures. The ocean is the home of sharks and all marine animals. This book makes me realize we should find balanced ways to share the sea with wildlife instead of using harmful nets. I learn we need to protect marine animals and live peacefully with all ocean life.

读完《防鲨网——是福是祸？》，我内心对防鲨网充满复杂的感受。这本书介绍，人们铺设防鲨网是为了保障海滩游泳者的安全，可它却给海洋生物带来巨大伤害。许多鲨鱼、海龟、海豚，甚至幼年鲸鱼都会被渔网困住，最终溺水身亡。看到幼鲸被困死去、母鲸却无能为力的画面，我十分心痛。

而鲨鱼观测员的工作，提供了不伤害海洋生物、提醒游人避险的温和办法。海洋本是鲨鱼和所有海洋生物的家园。这本书让我明白，我们应当找到和海洋生物共处的平衡方式，而非使用伤害生灵的渔网。我懂得了要保护海洋动物，与所有海洋生命和平共存。
