recruited16adults,allwithgoodvisionandhearing,totakeasimpletest.Thevolunteersstartedbyvisuallytracking
themovementsofagreendotonacomputerscreen,withoutmovingtheirheads.Astheydidso,aneye-trackingcam
erarecordedthedirectionoftheirgaze,whilemicrophonesintheirearcanalsrecordedtheirearsounds.
Whentheeyevideoandearaudiorecordingsweresubsequentlycross-referenced,itwasfoundthateyemovem
entsinspecificdirectionsproducedspecifictypesofearnoises.Thescientistswerethusabletotellwhereaparticipa
nt'sgazewasfocused,simplybyidentifyingwhatsortofnoise“signature”theirearsweremaking.Itwasalsopossibletodotheopposite——theresearcherscouldaccuratelytellwhatsortofsoundsthevolunteers’earsweremaking,b
ytrackingthedirectionoftheirgaze.Itishopedthattheteam'sfindingswillcontributetoabetterunderstandingofh
umanperception(感知),possiblyleadingtomoreaccurateandinformativehearingtests.

withholdinagroupsetting.
ThedownsideofbrainstormingwithAIwasthatsomestudentsvoicedconcernsaboutoverrelianceonthetech
nology.Theyfeareditmightunderminetheirownthoughtsand,consequently,confidenceintheircreativeabilities.S
omestudentsreporteda“fixationofthemind”,meaningthatoncetheysawtheAI'sideas,theyhadahardtimecomi
ngupwiththeirown.

WenotedthatwhileusingChatGPTimprovedstudents’creativeoutputindividually,theAIideastendedtoberepetit
