Stress Index value from 1 (most relaxed) to 100 (most stressed).
7 Cups
7 Cups provides online treatment and free support to people having emotional problems by connecting them
with trained listeners. The listener interacts with the person seeking help via a secret conversation.
Sanvello
Sanvello is based on the principles of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to provide effective relief for mental
health concerns including anxiety and depression. Its features — videos, audio (音频的) exercises, and activities
— are designed to work together to help you learn how to feel happier. The app’s mood tracking, daily reminders,

Li Ziqi is back! After more than three years’ break, one of China’s most beloved influencers celebrated
worldwide for her portrayals (描绘) of rural Chinese life through videos, returned on Nov. 12.
Li marked her comeback with two new videos. One details how she transformed a shed (棚) into a woodland
cloakroom while the other demonstrates the process of making wardrobe doors using the intangible cultural
heritage of Chinese lacquerware (漆器) techniques. These videos quickly went viral on social media. By Nov. 22,
her lacquerware video had 140 million views on Sina Weibo.
Fans from around the globe expressed their excitement. “Three years! It’s been three years since you last
updated! Do you know how I’ve survived these three years? You’re finally back! I am so excited!” commented one
Weibo user. For Li, the past three years were an opportunity to explore deeper into Chinese traditional arts. “I traveled to
more than 20 provinces, visiting over 100 intangible cultural heritage inheritors,” Li told Xinhua. She spoke with
artisans, studied their skills and explored folk culture, learning about the stories, historical context and materials
behind these crafts — all to share them with the world through her videos.
Although many vloggers have attempted to copy Li’s style during her absence, none have reached her level of
popularity. One key reason is the high quality of her videos. “Her videos show not only the production process of
traditional Chinese cuisines and handicrafts, but also the wisdom from nature and history,” praised Rednet. “She
would spend several months making a single video. Her pursuit of perfection is difficult for many vloggers to
copy.”
Moreover, fans admire the slow-paced rhythm of her content. “People’s love for Li’s videos reflects modern
individuals’ beautiful imagination of rural life and their eagerness for simplicity,” commented Southern Weekly.
4. What are Li Ziqi’s videos mainly about?
A. rural Chinese life. B. Chinese handicrafts.
C. Chinese cuisines. D. Chinese lacquerware techniques.
5. What does the underlined phrase “went viral” in the passage probably mean?
A. Finish quickly. B. Spread rapidly. C. Understand easily. D. Speak clearly.
,
6. According to Paragraph 4 which word can best describe Li Ziqi?

7. Why do people love Li Ziqi’s videos according to Southern Weekly?
A. Because they love handicrafts.
B. Because they can escape from city.
C. Because they long for a simpler life.
D. Because they are fond of Chinese history.
A 5. B 6. C 7. C

By Nov. 22, her lacquerware video had 140 million views on Sina
For Li, the past three years were an opportunity to explore deeper into Chinese
traditional arts. ‘I traveled to more than 20 provinces, visiting over 100 intangible cultural heritage inheritors,’ Li told
Xinhua. She spoke with artisans, studied their skills and explored folk culture, learning about the stories, historical

Many animals have relatively dull coloring, which helps them match their backgrounds and avoid detection by
predators (捕食者). There are a few notable exceptions like giant pandas. Scientists have long wondered what
function the black-and-white coloring plays.
Recently, researchers analyzed 15 photos of pandas taken in forests in South Central China and used a
computer model to analyze the images as they would appear to predatory cats and dogs. They found that the black
fur blends into (融合到) shade and dark tree trunks. But it also matches the ground, rocks and leaves. The white fur
matches snow, rocks and bright leaves (due to light reflecting from the leaves). The researchers found that cats and
dogs would both struggle to spot a panda in a forest — particularly if the panda was some distance away. The
photos were taken from between 5 and 150 meters from the pandas, and included both snowy and sunny
environments. It might seem a bit confusing because pandas are very easy to spot at a zoo, for instance. But the environment
and the viewer make a difference. “We modeled their coloration through predators’ eyes as well as how humans see
them so we are sure of the results,” study author Tim Caro of the University of Bristol says. They used cats, dogs
and human vision models to view each image. Despite the fact that humans see things differently from panda
predators, there are also the situations where people usually see the black-and-white animals.
“It seems that pandas appear striking to us because of short viewing distances and odd backgrounds: when we
see them, either in photographs or at the zoo, it is almost always from close up, and often against a backdrop that
doesn’t reflect their natural habitats,” says author Nick Scott-Samuel of the University of Bristol.
“I’m shocked by how well pandas turn out to match the colors of their background,” says Jenny Read at
Newcastle University, UK.
8. Why is Caro certain of the results?
A. His team used advanced video cameras B. His team employed different vision models.
C. His team took photos of pandas very closely. D. His team compared different varieties of pandas.
9. What docs Scott-Samuel intend to tell us in paragraph 4?
A. The attraction of zoos for pandas. B. How pandas look striking in the photos.
C. The ideal distance for observing pandas. D. Why pandas are usually noticeable to people.
10. How does Read feel about the findings?
A. Disappointed. B. Proud. C. Astonished. D. Doubtful.
11. What is the passage mainly about?
A. Pandas’ habitat is threatened.
B. Pandas’ colors help them hide in forests.
C. Pandas prefer to live in sunny environments.
D. Pandas can be spotted by cats easily even in the distance.
B 9. D 10. C 11. B

We modeled their coloration through predators’ eyes as well as how humans see them
so we are sure of the results(我们通过捕食者的眼睛以及人类如何看待它们来模拟它们的颜色,所以我们对
It seems that pandas appear striking to us because of short viewing distances and
odd backgrounds: when we see them, either in photographs or at the zoo, it is almost always from close up, and
often against a backdrop that doesn’t reflect their natural habitats,” says author Nick Scott-Samuel of the University

I’m shocked by how well pandas turn out to match the colors of their background,”

As classrooms embrace more technology, students use digital devices (设备) for learning. But is this best?
Older generations often credit notebooks and journals for their learning, feeling today’s screen-focused youth are
missing out on valuable experiences.
My daughter, born in 2003, grew up in a relatively screen-free environment until secondary school when her
school partnered with Apple. Each student received an iPad, and lessons were given via iTunes U and other apps. I
hated it. Password issues were constant (不断的), and the content seemed boring compared to her elementary
schoolbooks, which were always filled with drawings and teacher comments.
So seven years later when my son was given a laptop on his first day at secondary school, my heart sank. But
not long after, the school told us that the laptops were being recalled, only to be used for particular classes. The
school, it seemed, had looked hard at the digital classroom and decided that pens and paper worked better after all.
My kids’ experiences with screens align with (与……一致) academic research. Studies show that paper
notebooks outperform digital ones. Countless other studies have shown that college students typing lecture notes
don’t learn as well as those writing by hand. Handwriting encourages paraphrasing and summarizing, leading tobetter understanding and memory. Meanwhile, Japanese neurologists (神经学家) have found that notebook writing
activates many brain regions, enhancing engagement (专注). The act of writing in and filling up a notebook is
emotionally satisfying, changing impersonal blank pages into a unique, personal item. Digital notes, in comparison,
lack physical presence and personality.
For centuries, notebooks were key in education, with “commonplacing”, a detailed note-taking system,
changing learning. William Shakespeare and Isaac Newton were among millions to practice it. Over time, learners
filled their notebooks with the best parts of the poets, historians and philosophers they read, placing thousands of
quotes under the best headings.
But renaissance commonplace books took years of schooling to fill and seem outdated in the age of Google.
Why do people copy by hand when information is so accessible? While tech tools are great, picking up a pen is still
valuable, especially in classrooms. Learners should be handwriting more, and typing less.
12. How did the author feel about the iPad program at his daughter’s school?
A. Excited. B. Dissatisfied. C. Unconcerned. D. Confused.
13. According to the article, what is one of advantages of taking notes by hand?
A. It saves time.
B. It requires less effort.
C. It promotes deeper understanding.
D. It is more convenient than using computers.
14. Why does the author mention William Shakespeare and Isaac Newton in the text?
.
A To suggest that they were great learners.
B. To prove that famous people preferred handwriting.
C. To show commonplacing is the best learning method.
D. To stress the widespread use of commonplacing at the time.
15. What is the main message the author conveys in the text?
A. Schools should ban digital tools.
B. Technology is revolutionizing education.
C. Handwriting remains important for learning.
D. Commonplacing is a valuable study technique.
B 13. C 14. D 15. C

iTunes U and other apps. I hated it.
Countless other studies have shown that college students typing lecture notes don’t
learn as well as those writing by hand. Handwriting encourages paraphrasing and summarizing, leading to better
understanding and memory. Meanwhile, Japanese neurologists (神经学家) have found that notebook writing
activates many brain regions, enhancing engagement

For centuries, notebooks were key in education, with “commonplacing”, a detailed
note-taking system, changing learning. William Shakespeare and Isaac Newton were among millions to practice it.
Older generations often credit notebooks and journals for their learning,
feeling today’s screen-focused youth are missing out on valuable experiences.
While tech tools are great, picking up a pen is still valuable, especially in classrooms. Learners
should be handwriting more, and typing less.(虽然科技工具很棒,但拿起笔仍然很有价值,尤其是在教室里。

Hugging for health and happiness
When you’re feeling down, there’s nothing like a nice big hug from a loved one to cheer you up. But the
positive effects of hugging go beyond a simple shot in the arm. Scientists have discovered that the act of hugging
has more benefits than you expect. ___16___Hugging causes your body to release a number of chemicals that improve your mood. These chemicals cause
your stress levels to fall and reduce feelings of worry and loneliness. ___17___ This means that hugs are great for
deepening relationships and reducing conflict.
___18___ Gentle pressure on the chest encourages the body’s production of white blood cells, which help
protect against disease. Indeed, a study of 400 adults showed that those who hugged more often were less likely to
get sick than those who didn’t. And frequent huggers who were sick also had less serious symptoms (症状).
Hugging might also slow the effects of aging in some people. Old mice that were given happiness hormones
(激素) actually began to regenerate their muscles at the same rate as younger mice. So giving your grandpa and
grandma lots of hugs could help them stay fitter for longer. ___19___ Babies who were given just 20 minutes of
extra hugs and loving touches per day were shown to have received positive effects on their brain development.
Therefore, if you’re one of those people who don’t regard themselves as a hugger, you may want to change
your ways.___20___ You’ll be doing them and yourself a world of good.
A. Indeed, hugging can benefit your heart.
B. However, hugging doesn’t only benefit old bodies.
C. Get out there and give your loved ones a hug!
D. To ease the pain, you may want to hug with someone you love.
E. Hugging also helps create a stronger connection between huggers.
F. It does a lot of good to both your mental health and physical well-being.
G. In addition, people who frequently hug receive a boost when fighting off illness.

Ma Jun was born in an ordinary family. His birth brought happiness and joy to his parents. But gradually they
noticed something unusual—his limbs (四肢) were weak, and he couldn't move or stand without help. When he
was 8, a doctor predicted that he wouldn't live past 20. This undoubtedly brought a terrible shock to the family. His
poor health conditions isolated (隔离) him from other children. While his peers (同龄人) ran and played, Ma could
only sit on the stone steps, watching in frustration and sadness. How he wished he could join them, run with them
and play games with them.
Ma's parents ran a shop to make a living. For years, they carried him on their backs to school, regardless of
wind and rain. They always encouraged and supported him in everything.
Ma liked reading and writing very much. His writing journey began in 2016, the year when he passed his
college entrance exams. But he began to worry. If he went to college, his younger brother would have to drop out of
school, and one of his parents must accompany him. With limited resources, his parents couldn't manage both sons'
education. Ma wanted to stay at home, sacrificing his own opportunity to give his brother a chance to continue
studying. In view of his family's financial circumstances and his health conditions, Ma finally made a difficult
decision that he was not going to college.
Although his decision was rooted in love, it made Ma get into pain. He longed to experience university life
and prove he could achieve success despite his physical illness. He locked himself in his room, overwhelmed by
feelings of hopelessness in the darkest hours. For a long time, he didn't talk to anyone, sometimes writing essays
and sometimes just lying quietly in bed, waiting for time to pass.

One possible version:
The turning point came when a friend gave him a book How Powerful Life Is . The name of the book
attracted him so deeply that he opened it and began to read. As he read, he felt a spark of light illuminating his
world. The book inspired Ma deeply, who later found a path for the rest of his life literature. With the support and
encouragement of his parents, he started to gather the courage to do something meaningful, like writing, instead of
staying in bed letting life pass him by. He began writing essays about his life experiences, pouring his heart and
soul into the words.
One day, Ma learned about a "Literary Star" program online and decided to submit his collection of
essays. A few months later, unexpected news came that he won the award. When he received the good news, he
was sitting under a tree, reading a book. Overcome with joy, he let out a loud scream, which surprised his family.
Learning of Ma's win, everyone laughed with excitement and congratulated him. With a proud smile on his face,
Ma sincerely expressed his gratitude to his parents. Without their support and encouragement, never could he have
achieved the award. More importantly, he realized the power of life. While fighting against his illness, he firmly
persisted in the road of writing.
