There are three basic modes of physical exercise: flexibility exercise helps the human body in general or its part in particular to be able to reach farther and bend better;aerobic exercise helps the body work hard for a long time;anaerobicexercisemakesthearmsandlegsstronger. It has long been known that exercise is not only good for your body, but also for your mind. According to researchers, gymnasts are more likely to be emotionally stable, football players the most outgoing and swimmers thehappiest. The psychological study, which was carried out by experts, also revealed that sports can also offer clues to a person's attitude to charity, reading habits and even their voting intentions.Boxers, for example, are most likely to focus onmaterial possessionsin life. Meanwhile, runners tendto be outgoing people who love being the centreof attention. Walkers, a group that includes those who enjoy wandering and cross-country races, are least concerned aboutotherpeopleandlikedoingthingsbythemselveswithoutinterruptionfromothers.Thosewhoplaychessare confident when they face challenges and trouble. Those who swim tend to be tidy and charitable. However, according to Mind Lab,61 percent of adults are fond of helping others regardless of their choiceofsports. D Consumers in the U.S.spend billions of dollars a year on gifts wrapping. Two colleagues and I wondered whether all that time and effort is actually worth it. So we conducted three experiments to explore the impact of giftwrapping. In the first experiment,we involved 180 students, who were given a gift-a coffee cup with the logo of one of twoNBAbasketballteams, thelocalMiamiHeatorrival(竞争对手)OrlandoMagic.Everyparticipantwasafan of the Heat and they obviously didn't support the Magic. We gave half of the students a desirable gift, while the others received something they disliked. Finally, half of the gifts were wrapped neatly, while the rest looked sloppy(凌乱的). We found that those who received a sloppily wrapped gift liked their present significantly more than those whoreceivedaneatlywrappedgift-regardlessofwhichcuptheygot. To understand why,we asked another set of students to report their expectations about either a neatly or sloppily wrapped gift. Results showed that expectations were significantly higher for the neatly wrapped gifts. However, receivers of the neatly wrapped gift reported that it failed tolive up to their expectations, while thosewhogotthesloppilywrappedgiftsaiditsurpassed(超过)theirexpectations. In our final experiment, we surveyed 261 adults and asked them to imagine receiving either a neatly or sloppily wrappedgift. This time we instructedhalf ofthemto imaginethe gift wasfrom aclosefriend, while the otherhalfbelieveditcamefromanacquaintance(熟人).Thenwerevealedthegiftandaskedthemtorateit. However, for the giftfromanacquaintance, receiverspreferreditwhenitwasneatlywrapped.Thisoccursbecausetheseparticipants usedthewrappingasacueforhowmuchthegift-givervaluestheirrelationship.
