听力部分录音材料
(Text 1)
M:May I have a word with you?
W:Sure. What's the problem?M:It's about your son. I'm tired of his making so much noise all day.
(Text 2)
M:I'm not used to the new style in which the teacher has asked us to write this essay.
I'm much better using my normal style of writing.
W:But I like it. It's good to try different writing styles.
(Text 3)
M:This diet I'm on is really hard to follow. I remember to count the calories in
everything I eat and drink, but I always forget to write them down.
W:I followed that diet too. I never remembered to read the calories on the package of
food.
(Text 4)
M:I don't think I can be accepted. I wish I had prepared better for my job interview.
W:Maybe you were just nervous. As a matter of fact, you have prepared well for it.
M:Yeah. I should have been more confident.
(Text 5)
W:My credit card was canceled. I have a full-time job with a good income, and I don't
have any outstanding debt, so what could be the problem?
M:Did you always make your payments on time?
W:Well, no.
(Text 6)
W:Hi, Aditi. What are your plans for today?
M:I was just thinking about giving you a call. Well, I am free today. What about you?
W:That's nice. I was wondering if you'd like to go to a charity party tonight.
M:Sure, I'd love to! Where is the party?
W:It's in Park Hotel.
M:Sounds great!
W:OK. I'll pick you up around 8:30. We will probably reach the hall by 9 o'clock. Then
the party will begin in 15 minutes.
M:Great! See you then. Bye!
(Text 7)
W:I'm so excited about my sister Laura's wedding next month.
M:I'm sure you can't wait.W:Laura is going to try on her wedding dress on Sunday and I'm going with her. It's
such a beautiful dress—she'll look amazing!
M:Oh! Tell me what her dress is like.
W:Well, she's not wearing a traditional white wedding dress because she wants to be
different.
M:Oh, really! That's a great idea!
W:Yes, and white doesn't really suit her anyway. She couldn't decide between a red dress
and a gold one. Finally she decided to wear gold because she's getting married in the
summer. She thought red was a better color for a winter wedding.
(Text 8)
W:When did you decide to make your own videos in your spare time?
M:When I was 12, I loved to watch other people's videos online. One day I thought, “I
want to do that.” So I did.
W:Was it difficult to learn?
M:No, not at all. All you need is a computer with a camera, and some video software. I
find it easy because I enjoy playing with technical things.
W:What's the best thing about it?
M:I love reading the messages other video makers write under their videos. Sometimes
they are funny.
W:What about the future?
M:I'll never stop making videos. I hope to work in the music business when I graduate.
W:Well, good luck. And thanks for talking to me.
M:Thank you. It was fun.
(Text 9)
W:Jackie, how are you doing today?
M:I am good! I just got out of my psychology lecture. It was so boring! I am glad I am
done for the day. How are you doing?
W:I have been reading this new book I just bought. Have you ever heard of the author
John Grisham?M:Yeah! John Grisham is a lawyer who has written a lot of books based on his
knowledge and experience with the legal system like The Client. His books are very easy
to read.
W:Yeah, The Client is one of my favourite books! I love Mark Sway and Reggie Love,
the two main characters of the novel. John Grisham's special sense of humour has made
his characters very entertaining and the book much more interesting to read. Have you
read The Chamber?
M:The Chamber is a pretty good book too.
W:John Grisham really knows how to adapt his writing style to each situation. That is the
main reason for his success as a writer.
M:I have to agree with you on that.
(Text 10)
M:Annie Oakley was a woman who became famous for her ability to shoot a gun
and hit very small objects. There are hundreds of stories about her. Many of the stories
involve her adventures in the American Wild West. Others tell about her travels with
native Americans. However, most of the stories are not true. She did not grow up in the
Wild West, nor did she fight in any battles. Annie Oakley was a performer in a traveling
Wild West show. She used her skills at shooting a gun to become one of the most
famous sharp shooters in American history.
Annie Oakley was born in 1860 in Ohio. Her family was very poor. At the age of
8, she decided to help them earn money. She taught herself how to shoot her
grandfather's gun and began hunting animals for food and then sold the animals to the
people in her town. When she was 15, she had made enough money to pay for her
family's farm. Soon her ability to shoot a gun became well known in her town. She got
the name Little Sure Shot because of her shooting ability and because she was only 1.5
meters tall. However, she left the people who loved her on November 3, 1926.
第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分50分)
第一节 (共15小题;每小题2.5分,满分37.5分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。
ABefore traveling around the world, take some time and find out what sightseeing
destinations are. Some of those spots that most guides mention are the following thrilling
attractions.
Auckland's Sky Tower
Auckland's Sky Tower is popular with bungee jumpers. Some celebrities, such as
Beyoncé, have already tried it. The tower is 630 feet tall. At the top of the structure
there is an observation deck. Trust us, most of those reading this article would prefer to
stay on the ground rather than climb up this scary structure.
North Yungas Road
The Road of Death is the right name given to a road in Bolivia and people may die
here. The major cause of all those accidents is the road. The problem is that it is too
narrow and badly maintained while here the traffic is heavier than anywhere else.
Nevertheless, it seems like tourists will continue visiting this strange road despite its scary
nickname.
Victoria Falls
Victoria Falls has always been considered to be an incredible place worth taking
pictures of. There are a lot of spots that tourists love. Some of them are very dangerous
for people. Yet the brave are ready to overcome their fear for a shot of lifetime.
Arctic Cliff Face
Cliff does not make the most comfortable place for camping. Being camped on the
ground is far safer anyway. Despite all the inconvenience, the new trend is rapidly
gaining popularity among climbing enthusiasts and outdoor addicts.

Jacob Kohut, 35, was a soldier. He finally had some downtime during his 12-hour
shift. He sat in the back of his car, flute (长笛) in hand, teaching students via his laptop
how to play Beethoven's Ode to Joy. That meant he was on double duty, as an active
soldier and as a dedicated school band teacher.
For the past five years, he's taught music at two schools in Fairfax County, Virginia,
Canterbury Woods Elementary School in the morning and Frost Middle School in the
afternoon. When he was on duty, Kohut began his days in the morning with teaching his
elementary class remotely from the drill floor of the DC Armory, finishing the lesson
mere minutes before his shift started at 10 am. Later in the day, during his break, he
would go online to teach his middle school students from the back of his car.
Diane Leipzig, the head teacher of Canterbury Woods Elementary School, told Kohut
she would find a substitute teacher to cover his classes while he was on duty, but he
insisted on continuing to teach. She says, “He's an excellent example. He teaches our kids
the significance of practice and determination.” Music has always been the driving force
in Kohut's life. “My mom was a music teacher. That's why I do what I do, because she
was such a good role model,” says Kohut.
Kohut insists he is not doing anything extraordinary. “We are here to do what's
needed, and if that means standing outside for 18 hours straight in the freezing cold,
we're ready to do that,” he says. As the 11 instruments played by his virtual students
synchronized (同步) in the song, the familiar melody of Ode to Joy rang through his car.
At that moment, Kohut realized there wasn't a timelier tune to teach his students. “It's a
symbol of unity and peace,” he says, “and that's what the world needs right now.”
24.What's the double identity of Jacob Kohut?
A.A soldier and student. B.A soldier and teacher.C.A teacher and student. D.A president and teacher.
25.What do we know about Kohut's lessons for elementary students?
A.They were given face to face.
B.They began in the afternoon.
C.They finished before his shift.
D.They focused on music theory.
26.What message does Leipzig want to convey in paragraph 3?
A.Kohut was irreplaceable anytime.
B.Kohut was unequal to the position.
C.Kohut was responsible and talented.
D.Kohut had a positive effect on kids.
27.Which of the following best describes Kohut as a teacher?
A.Devoted. B.Demanding. C.Ambitious. D.Humorous.

Roses are red, violets are blue, and in between are many other colors. But which one
of these colors is, statistically speaking, the most popular around the world?
It turns out that humanity's favorite color isn't constant. A 2015 survey by YouGov
found that blue was the most popular color worldwide. Meanwhile, in 2017, a survey of
30,000 people across 100 countries found deep blueish green to be the most popular
color, The Independent reported. The answer seems to vary with the year, survey method
and population sampled.
And color preferences are highly influenced by culture. For instance, a 2019 study in
the journal Perception compared the favorite colors of people in Polish, Papuan and
Hadza cultures. Preferred colors differed widely among these cultures.Even within the same culture, life experiences and socialization may shape color
preference. For instance, in modern Western culture, blue is traditionally associated with
boys, while pink is considered a “girl's color”. And, unsurprisingly, a 2013 study that
surveyed 749 American parents found that men tended to prefer blue while women tended
to prefer red, purple and pink. This gender divide was heightened in families with only
sons; in other words, men who had only sons more strongly preferred blue than men who
had girls did.
The understanding and classifying of colors, however, does seem to be fairly
universal. In the late 1970s, researchers with the World Color Survey undertook an
incredibly broad survey of the color terms in 110 unwritten languages across the world.
The survey found that across cultures, people tended to name colors the same way. For
example, if you show people different colors that in English are close to “blue”, chances
are that in Tagalog, Turkish or Tajik, those same colors will all be described by a word
that roughly translates to “blue”, too.
28.Why does the author mention the surveys in paragraph 2?
A.To suggest their methods are unscientific.
B.To display green is much more popular than blue.
C.To prove the most popular color is constantly changing.
D.To show the 2017 survey is more scientific than the 2015 one.
29.Who would most probably love blue according to paragraph 4?
A.A brother with a little sister. B.A father with two sons.
C.A mother with two daughters. D.A sister with a little brother.
30.What does the last paragraph tell us?
A.Cultures matter little while categorizing colors.
B.Some different languages have similar pronunciation.
C.It's hard to understand foreigners' preference for colors.
D.The favorite color of Englishmen and Turks is the same.
31.What is the best title for the text?
A.The effects of culture on colors
B.Some interesting facts about colors
C.The most popular color in the worldD.Factors that affect your favorite color

Airplanes and birds have been sharing the skies since the first ever flight back in
1903. However, accidents between birds and aircraft are the cause of thousands of bird
deaths every year. Such incidents, known as bird strikes, can also result in aircraft
damage, as well as delays and cancellation of flights.
Airport wildlife management teams currently employ a number of methods, such as
drones, aircraft without pilots and controlled from the ground, and birds of enemy—
including falcons (隼)—to try to scare birds away from the airport surroundings. However,
breeding and training falcons isn't exactly cheap, and the birds can be difficult to manage.
But could a robotic falcon be the solution? Made from fiberglass and Expanded
Polypropylene, the RobotFalcon mimics the movements of the large and powerful falcon,
and has proved to be highly effective at keeping birds away in a recently published study.
During a series of tests carried out in 2019 in the area surrounding the city of
Workum in the Netherlands, the RobotFalcon managed to successfully scare all flocks
from fields within five minutes of starting its flight, with 50% of the sites cleared within
70 seconds, according to Rolf Storms, one of the authors of the report.
When compared with a drone, the RobotFalcon, which has a weight of 0.245
kilograms, was found to be the superior of the two, with the drone only managing to
clear 80% of the birds in the same amount of time. As for comparisons with an actual
bird of enemy, the authors noted that the RobotFalcon was a practical and moral solution
with the advantages of live enemy but without their limitations.
However, the report does go on to recognize that there are also limitations with the
RobotFalcon, pointing out that it needs to be controlled by trained pilots, while flightscannot take place during rain or strong wind conditions and are also limited by its 15-
minute battery life.
32.What often damages aircraft according to the text?
A.Falcon hunting. B.Bird hit.
C.Plane collisions. D.Drone strikes.
33.What does “mimics” underlined in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.Copies. B.Allows. C.Observes. D.Controls.
34.What is the advantage of a robotic falcon over a live one?
A.It can work longer tirelessly.
B.It is more environment-friendly.
C.It is more manageable and cheaper.
D.It is more adaptable to various situations.
35.What will the author probably talk about next?
A.The other ways to protect wild birds.
B.The future challenge of the robotic falcon.
C.The future application of the robotic falcon.
D.The solutions to the limitations of the robotic falcon.

One possible version:
My viewpoints on space exploration
Because of enormous research expense, some are questioning whether space
exploration is worth doing. Some people think government funding should be spent onimproving the living standard of the people. Others insist space has little to do with us. I
disagree.
In my opinion, curiosity about the environment including outer space is a basic
human trait, which is what push us to explore and make breakthroughs one day.
Space exploration is necessary to expand the scope of human knowledge. Think
about other forms of exploration carried out-research into deep ocean, in which process
we've improved our scientific technology.
In sum, one cannot be nearsighted. Think about the potential benefits in future.

Garrone came to our house today with his mother. This was the first time that
Garrone had been to our home, because he was rather shy, and then he was ashamed to
show himself because he was so large, and was still in the third grade. We all went to
open the door when they rang.
My mother kissed Garrone at once. My father introduced Garrone to me, saying:
“Here he is. This lad is a good boy.” And the boy dropped his big, shaggy (头发长而乱
的) head, with a shy smile at me. Garrone seemed very happy, because his father had
gone to work again in the nearby coal mine, and had not drunk anything for the last five
days, and seemed quite another man. Once his father was drunk he would sometimes lose
temper and beat poor Garrone.
We began to play, and I brought out all my things. Garrone was fascinated with my
toy cars, with the engine that goes of itself on being wound up. He had never seen
anything of the kind. He enjoyed the little red and yellow cars. I gave him the key to
play with, and he knelt down to his amusement, and did not raise his head again. I have
never seen him so pleased. He kept saying,“Excuse me, excuse me” to everything, and
motioning to us with his hands that we should not stop the engine; and then he held it
carefully, as though they had been made of glass. He was afraid of breaking them with
his breath, and he polished them up again, examining them top and bottom, and smiling
to himself. We all stood around him and gazed at him in a patched (有补丁的) and loose jacket
with the sleeves rolled up.

One possible version:
At that moment I would like to give all my toys to him. I wanted to give some
delicious food and warm clothes, too. But I thought I should ask my father's permission
first. At that moment I felt a bit of paper thrust into my hand. I looked and found it was
written by my father. It said,“Your car makes Garrone happy. He has no toys. Could you
share yours with him?” I felt so excited that my father and I thought alike. So I handed
the toy car right to Garrone.
Garrone was surprised and didn't dare to accept it. I said,“We are now good friends,
this is a gift for you, I hope it can bring you a lot of happiness! If you feelembarrassed, take me to your father's place of work next time as a gift.” He said yes,
and I saw my parents next to him smile, and they must think I had made the right
decision.
