Lieutenant Colonel (中校) Song Lingdong will soon become one of the first astronauts from the post-1990s
generation in China to start a space journey.
Born in August 1990 to a farmer’s family in Caoxian county, Shandong province, Song joined the PLA Air
Force in September 2008 and was sent to learn flying. In the first months at the flight school, the young man had
bad scores in his physical tests. He also had a tough time in his first flights due to airsickness.
Knowing clearly about his weaknesses, Song decided to depend on willpower and sweat to make up for them.
He soon became the one student in his class who always appeared on the exercise field and often asked the trainers
to double the amount of his training. Thanks to his hard work, he received the top score in his solo (个人) flight
exam. After graduation, Song became a pilot.
In the spring of 2018, Song was told about the PLA Astronaut Department beginning to pick new members.
Soon he decided to apply. He said the desire to fly above the atmosphere (大气层) was inspired by a TV news
report he saw about China’s first spaceflight, when he was 13 years old.
In September 2020, he was selected as one of the third group of astronauts. He soon realized that a successful
astronaut really needs calmness and team spirit. He learned to slow down and even started going fishing to improve
his patience. In the eyes of the leader Cai Xuzhe and teammate Wang Haoze, Song is now fully able to complete a
spaceflight and can be depended upon.24. What can we learn about Song Lingdong from Paragraphs 2 &3?
A. He became a pilot without difficulty. B. He did very well in his physical tests.
C. He managed to make up for his weaknesses. D. He received the highest score in every exam.
25. What inspired Song Lingdong to be an astronaut?
A. A TV news report. B. A childhood dream.
C. His hard work in training. D. His curiosity about space.
26. Which of the following best describes Song Lingdong?
A. Shallow. B. Talented. C. Frank. D. Hardworking.
27. What can we learn from Song Lingdong’s story?
A. It is never too old to learn. B. Actions speak louder than words.
C. A friend in need is a friend indeed. D. Where there is a will, there is a way.
C
Imagine you’re walking across endless hills, with warm sunshine and the sound of birds all around. This peaceful
scene is a rare one in the modern world. Our natural soundscapes (声音环境) are falling silent as bird populations
reduce.
Our study explores the link between birdsong and people, specifically on English vineyards (葡萄园). We
surveyed bird communities on 21 vineyards and our results showed that vineyards with more bird species (物种) had
louder and more complex (复杂的) soundscapes.
But does the silencing of our soundscapes matter to us? The short answer is yes. There is growing evidence
about the health benefits of spending time in nature, including reducing risks of heart disease and anxiety.
So as part of our research, we explored the experience of 186 wine-tour participants (参与者) across three
vineyards with different soundscapes. We also improved some vineyard soundscapes with hidden speakers, which
played the songs of five additional bird species. This was designed to see how participants’ contact with nature would
be affected by increasing the kinds of birds and songs.
The results were fascinating. Visitors who experienced louder and more complex sounds — whether on vineyards
with naturally richer soundscapes or on those we had improved — reported enjoying the sounds more. They felt more
connected to nature and more satisfied with their tour. With richer soundscapes, they felt more mindful and positive
during the tours.
Our study shows the direct effect that birdsong has on our happiness and presents a strong argument for protecting
natural soundscapes. So, we hope businesses and people will be inspired to invest (投资) in protection and promote
connection with nature.
28. What’s the purpose of the first paragraph?.
A To show different opinions. B. To amuse readers.
C. To explain the causes. D. To introduce the topic.
29. What does paragraph 4 mainly tell us about the research?
A. Its design. B. Its challenges. C. Its findings. D. Its importance.
30. What does the underlined word “fascinating” in paragraph 5 mean?
A. Too boring. B. Very frightening. C. Quite interesting. D. Particularly confusing.
31. What does the author suggest people do based on the findings of the study?
A. Do further research. B. Connect more with nature.
C. Seek greater freedom. D. Build better businesses.
Animals, including humans, feel sound as well as hear it, and some of the most meaningful communication
happens at frequencies (频率) that people can’t hear. Elephants, for example, use these low-frequency sounds to,
among other things, find family or a mate across long distances. Whales do it, too.
But you don’t have to weigh a ton to make a sound. In fact, you don’t have to be bigger than a pea. Consider,
for example, the tree-hopper, a curious little animal that lives on the stems (茎) of the leaves. University of Missouri
biologist Rex Cocroft has spent much of his time listening closely to tree-hoppers with his team.
The team discovers that all the sounds being heard from tree-hoppers are produced by males. They do it by
vibrating (振动) their abdomens (腹部) to make a wide variety of strange sounds. There is almost no airborne sound
produced with these vibrational sounds. Cocroft explained, “If a tree-hopper were to stand on your finger and produce
a sound, you would feel the vibration but hear no sound.”
They showed that some sounds, not surprisingly, seem to be aimed at attracting females. And some are aimed at
other males.
Cocroft explained, “When two males meet each other, or when they are mate-searching on a branch, we’re
hearing ‘purring, bdddddrrrr…’ sounds that males give.” Normally, a person couldn’t hear any of this, because the
sound travels along the stem, inside it. And that’s how other tree-hoppers detect it.
Cocroft said tree-hoppers have very sensitive legs. And they stand around on stems, which are good at spreading
vibrations. So they just use what nature gives them to communicate with each other.
“They have so many different forms of social behavior and grouping,” Cocroft explained. “And once there are
animals living in groups, then there will be all sorts of interesting possibilities for communication.”
32. What does Cocroft’s research focus on about tree-hoppers?
A. Their variety. B. Their communication.
C. Their living areas. D. Their numbers.
33. What can we know about tree-hoppers?A. They sense sounds by legs.
B. They knock the stems to make sounds.
C. Their sounds can be easily heard by humans.
D. Females make sounds to meet each other
34. What does Cocroft say about animals’ living in groups?
A. It is key to their survival.
B. It drives an increase in their numbers.
C. It often leads to communication.
D. It contributes much to the division of animal types.
35. What is the best title for the text?
A. A Magic Moment in Nature B. A Journey to the Wildlife
C. Learning From Nature D. Communication Sounds Among Animals

67. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
A couple of months before I started high school, my parents gave me the greatest gift any teenage boy could ask
for: a cellphone. I lived on that phone all summer with my face buried in its screen. I paid no attention to my family
and my surroundings (周围事物). Being connected was more important than being present.
,
So you can imagine my displeasure when I learned what my dad had planned for our family vacation that year.
“This year,” my dad said, “we’ll be doing something special. We’re going camping!” It wasn’t my dream vacation
because my mind was on my phone. I was so buried in the screen, in fact, that the first time I can remember truly
looking up was when we drove across a bridge on the way to our campsite.
I looked out of the window and saw redwoods towering above us, their branches threatening to pierce (刺破)
the blue sky. I saw a river, with slivers of silky black water appearing between crashing white rapids. The air blowing
into the car from the open windows was hot. But none of that mattered to me. The reason I had looked up was for
something far more serious: my phone no longer had service.
The last hour in the car felt bad. My dad announced that he had chosen a campsite that had no cell service, and
that my phone would be useless until we returned home. I would be trapped in the forest for four days with no way
to contact the outside world!
On the first day, I went through every typical teenage mood: I got angry, begged, and kept flipping (切换)
between sadness and anger. I went to bed angrily that night. But when I woke up in the morning, something had
changed.
注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Instead of burying myself in my phone, I focused on something else: my surroundings.
