Tuesday: 4000 m ÷ 2 = 2000 m
Wednesday: 2000 m ÷ 2 = 1000 m
Thursday: 1000 m ÷ 2 = 500 m
Friday: 500 m ÷ 2 = 250 m
Saturday: 250 m ÷ 2 = 125 m
(4000 + 2000 + 1000 + 500 + 250 + 125) m
= 7875 m
Pete will not be able to reach Town B by Saturday.
