【词义辨析】

grave和tomb: 作名词讲时，都有"坟墓，墓穴"之意。

①grave:一般的土墓，指埋葬尸体的场所。

She visits her mother's grave every year.

她每年都会去祭拜母亲的坟墓。

②tomb语气比grave庄重，指有建筑工程的坟墓，可在地上，也可在地下。

Every year, thousands of people visit the tombof the unknown soldier to pay their respects.

每年都有成千上万的人参观无名战士墓以表示敬意。

另外，grave除了"坟墓，墓穴"之意外，“grave” 还被用作形容词，意为：

⑴ (形势、感情等 ) 严重的，重大的；严峻的，深切的；
