This is Fuliang Ancient County Government. It is also called “the No.1 Ancient Yamen in South China”. A yamen is the old office for local government in ancient China.a yamen worked like a modern county court and prosecutor’s office.It was where local people filed lawsuits and reported crimes, and where local officials punished corrupt and illegal actsIt is the most well-preserved ancient county government in southern China. Different from common county offices run by 7th-grade officials, this is a special 5th-grade county government. It is a famous cultural relic and a national key protected cultural site in China.

The history of this yamen started in 816, in the Tang Dynasty. It has a history of more than 1,200 years.It was rebuilt in the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty.which lasted from 1821 to 1850 in the Western calendar. At that time, European and American countries were in the middle and late stages of the First Industrial Revolution.From the Tang Dynasty to the early 20th century, it served as the local government for six dynasties. About 347 county officers worked here in the long history. In 1916, the local government moved to another place, and this old yamen became a historical scenic spot.

Fuliang Ancient County Government lies in Jiu cheng(旧城) Village, Fuliang County, Jingdezhen City, Jiangxi Province.
