一、both：两者都（两者，肯定）
both 表示“两者都”，只能描述两个人或者两个事物。作主语时，谓语动词必须用复数，常见结构： both of + 名词/代词 。
1. Both of my sisters like painting.
我的两个姐姐都喜欢画画。
2. Both answers are correct.
两个答案都是正确的。
⚠️易错点： both…and… 意为“两者都”，连接两个主语，谓语动词用复数。
Both Tom and Jack enjoy playing basketball.
汤姆和杰克两个人都喜欢打篮球。
注意： both + not 是部分否定，翻译为“并非两者都”，不等于“两者都不”。想要表达两者都不，要用neither。
Both of them are not students. 他们两人并非都是学生。
二、all：全部，都（三者及以上，肯定）
all 指代三个或三个以上的人或事物，也可以修饰不可数名词。修饰可数复数，谓语用复数；修饰不可数名词，谓语动词用单数 。
1. All of the students passed the test.
所有学生都通过了这次考试。（三者以上，复数）
2. All the water is clean.
所有的水都很干净。（不可数名词，谓语单数）
⚠️易错： all…not 同样为部分否定，“并非全部”；全部否定三者以上要用 none。
Not all birds can fly. 并非所有鸟儿都会飞。
三、either：两者之中任意一个（两者）
either 指两者当中随便哪一个，作主语时谓语动词用单数。固定搭配 either…or… ，或者……或者……，遵循就近原则，谓语动词看离它最近的主语。
1. You can take either of the two books.
两本书你随便拿哪一本都可以。
2. Either you or he has to clean the room.
要么是你，要么是他必须打扫房间。（就近原则，靠近谓语he，用has）
小提示：either还可以放在否定句末尾，表示“也”。
I don’t like this movie, either. 我也不喜欢这部电影。
四、neither：两者都不（两者，全部否定）
neither 是两者的全部否定，两个都不。作主语谓语动词多用单数；搭配 neither…nor… ，既不……也不……，同样遵循就近原则 。
1. Neither of the two pens works.
这两支笔都坏了。
2. Neither my mom nor my dad knows the secret.
我妈妈和爸爸都不知道这个秘密。（就近看my dad，谓语用单数knows）
