Slowly the beast lifts its head and its thick trunk delicately curls around the leaves of a nearby tree, pulling out the leaves and politely slipping them into its mouth. The beast's great grey skin is partly broken and aged from the African sun. Some mud drops on one side from its last trip to a nearby river. Its rough hair sticks out from all over its skin and two large, white tusks curve elegantly from either side of its mouth. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司Somewhere a lion roars and something else gives a loud high shout. A vulture (秃鹫) drifts over far above this world, barely a black dot in the sky. The buzzing of the countless bush insects seems to collectively shift up in high tune, almost like the whole of the savanna (热带草原) was singing some song that only they knew. I peer through the lens (镜头) at this scene. The zoom lens shows almost every detail of the elephant: the three small cuts in its left ear from playing as a baby around thorn trees, the scar down its front leg where a lion caught it unaware as a young adult, and weathering on its great, valuable tusks from decades of living in this unforgiving grassland on a dusty continent. And then the elephant looks at me. It looks at me with those big, eyelashed eyes with a warmth coming outwards from a vast, hidden depth there. I can suddenly feel its soul, and feel the line of elephants that came before this one, trailing back to the very beginnings of this great savanna. We will never understand what wonders this ancient being and its kind have seen and whispered to each other across the ages on this old, sacred grassland. It looks at me, and it looks through me and sees me. The elephant knows I am there. It always did. It is not running away, nor is it fighting. It accepts and forgives. It loves. But, mostly, it just feels sad. It feels sorry for me. I cannot do this anymore. I take my eye off the sights and hand the gun back to my partner.“Let's go home,”I said in a quiet voice,“let's just go home.” 24. Which word can best describe the elephant according to the first two paragraphs? A. Mysterious. B. Depressed. C. Aggressive. D. Graceful. 25. How does the author feel when he sees through the lens? A. Deeply moved and filled with sympathy. B. Overwhelmed by the elephant's strength. C. Annoyed at the presence of other animals. D. Shocked and scared by the elephant's scars. 26. What does the author intend to do initially? A. Take a picture. B. Hunt the elephant. C. Observe the elephant. D. Study African grassland. 27. What does the author's experience show? A. Nature calms our anger. B. Nature purifies our souls. C. Nature heals our wounds. D. Nature enriches our imagination. C Since the release of generative AI tools like ChatGPT, millions of people have started using them to access knowledge. And it's easy to understand their appeal: Present a task, get a polished output, and move on — it feels like effortless production. However, new research suggests this ease may have a cost. A series of studies revealed that people who used AI for creative writing developed work with lower originality compared to those using the“solo-creation way”. In the experiments, participants were tasked with writing a short story and were randomly assigned to do so by using either an AI tool or relying on their own minds (the“solo-creation way”). Once completed, their stories were collected for evaluation. The data revealed a consistent pattern: People who created a story through AI assistance versus solo creation felt 学科网(北京)股份有限公司that they were less engaged, invested less effort in the creative process, and ultimately produced stories that were less original and less creative, and were often superficially smoother and quicker to wrap up. When these stories were assessed by independent readers who didn't know how they were produced, these readers found the AI- assisted stories less engaging and were less likely to give them high ratings. Why does this happen? A core principle of creative work is that people create best when they are actively engaged. Solo creation involves more“friction”: you must evaluate ideas, struggle with structure, and synthesize information from different sources. This active process strengthens creative capability. In contrast, getting a ready- made, polished output from an AI requires less cognitive struggle, which can lead to a less durable and more superficial grasp of the creative process. However, to be clear, we do not believe the solution to these issues is to avoid using AI tools, especially given the undeniable benefits they offer in many contexts. Rather, people need to consider when to use AI for speed and when to rely on their own cognitive effort for depth and creativity. 28. What can be learned about generative AI tools from paragraph 1? A. Their perceived efficiency. B. Their constant technical updates. C. Their guarantee of deeper understanding. D. Their access to a vast amount of information. 29. How did the AI- group stories differ from those of the solo- creation group? A. They were polished more. B. They were not as well received. C. They were shorter than expected. D. They were more accessible and efficient. 30. What does the underlined word“synthesize” in paragraph 4 mean? A. Classify. B. Compare. C. Integrate. D. Summarize. 31. What is the author's purpose in writing the text? A. To argue against the use of AI tools. B. To highlight solo creation's superiority. C. To encourage mindful engagement with AI tools. D. To compare the efficiency of AI tools with solo creation. D While new, highly-effective weight-loss drugs have hit the market, their price label and numerous side effects mean other weight-loss interventions are still needed. To that end, Yue Wu at Sichuan University in China and her colleagues developed microbeads(微珠) that trap fat before it is absorbed by the body. They created the beads from vitamin E and compounds(化合物) found in green tea, then coated them with alginate, a type of seaweed fibre. They are all food-grade substances approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Once into the stomach, the protective alginate layer expands, allowing partially-digested fats to enter the inside of the beads, where they are attached to the compounds within. The beads along with the trapped fat are then discharged. The team tested the beads in eight rats fed a diet of 60 per cent fat. After 30 days, the rats lost about17 per cent of their body weight on average. In comparison, a separate group of eight rats fed the same high-fat diet without the beads didn't lose weight, and neither did another bead-free group kept on a diet of 10 percent fat. The rats treated with the 学科网(北京)股份有限公司microbeads also had less fat tissue and body damage than the others. The researchers also tested body waste from rats fed the microbeads. Their waste contained roughly as much fat as that of a fourth group of rats treated with orlistat, a weight-loss drug that prevents fat absorption. This indicates the microbeads blocked fat uptake, like the drug does. Yet unlike orlistat, the beads didn't cause any side effects in the stomach. A clinical trial involving 26 people is already under way.“Initial data may become available within the next year,” said Wu in a press release. The researchers foresee adding the flavourless beads, which can be shaped into balls, to desserts and teas.“We want to develop something that works with how people normally eat and live,” said Wu. 32. What can we learn about microbeads from the first two paragraphs? A. They take effect rapidly. B. They are approved by the US FDA. C. They speed up fat absorption. D. They are developed to meet market demand. 33. What does paragraph 3 say about microbeads? A. Their application. B. Their compositions. C. Their working principle. D. Their physical properties. 34. Why does the author mention the fourth group of rats in paragraph 5? A. To prove they lost more weight. B. To ensure a far-reaching experiment. C. To show orlistat can prevent fat absorption. D. To stress microbeads' advantage over orlistat. 35. What can be a suitable title for the text? A. Microbeads May Enjoy Popularity B. A Promising Weight-loss Alternative C. The Future of Microbeads in Desserts and Teas D. Microbeads Outperform Existing Weight-loss Drugs 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Anxiety acts like a built-in alarm that flashes whenever something important is at risk. Only when the alarm never stops and drowns out daily life does it turn into clinical anxiety that calls for professional help. 36 . The trick is to decode its message instead of smashing it, and you will find that anxiety can become one of the most useful friends you have. ● Put the worry into words When your heart races, pause and ask yourself,“What exactly am I afraid of?” Be precise. Writing the fear down in a single sentence shrinks it to a size you can handle. 37 . ● Tell someone your fear Say your fear out loud to a friend, parent, classmate, or even send it in a text. Sharing does two things at once: it reduces your shame and offers you a fresh angle. 38 . Talking about it simply transfers the problem from an 学科网(北京)股份有限公司unread medical file into an active treatment plan where it can be addressed. ● Let the feeling stay 39 . Let the sensations wash through you while you keep doing the task. Each ride builds what scientists call“emotional muscle,” the strength that turns the next wave into a surfboard instead of a tsunami. ● 40 After you have prepared and tried your best, admit that the final grade, the score, or the crowd's opinion is never one-hundred percent in your hands. Shift your eyes from the outcome to the effort and enjoy the freedom that comes from carrying only your own part of the load. So don't wait for a life without anxiety. Move with it—— side by side—— and let it lift you higher than you ever dared alone. A. Let worry knock on the door B. Release what you cannot control C. Remember, everyone carries some anxiety D. In most cases, however, the warning itself is useful E. Anxiety is not an enemy but a signal and a source of fuel F. Do not argue with your body over a racing heart, sweaty palms, or shaky legs G. Among them, the most famous imperial garden surviving today is the Summer Palace in Beijing, while the private gardens south of the lower YangtzeRiver are 57 unmatched charm, scattered through Suzhou, Yangzhou and other places. A huge stone or wall is usually placed at the entrance to a Chinese garden 58 (screen) your view. The most 59 (type) example is the Summer Palace. When you enter the eastern gate, a big hall blocks your way. This is to give you a pressed-in feeling, so as to later produce unforeseen delight when you turn around the hall to see the exotic rockwork, 60 an extensive lake of limpid rippleing water right in front of you. The Chinese attach great importance to the qualities of being reserved and subtle, and the construction of gardens 61 (dot) the hazy landscape south of the lower Yangtze River well 62 (reflect) this philosophy. The pavilions and buildings bathed in the misty moonlight produce 63 irresistible appeal. In these gardens, what most 64 (frequent) meets the eye are winding paths that seem to go nowhere. There, a path seems to end, but all of a sudden, a new world is rolled out before you:pavilions with upturned corners on their 学科网(北京)股份有限公司65 (roof), rockwork and spring water—— all combining to provide a pleasant surprise! Wang Yifan, a 16-year-old from Chengdu, had always pictured the United States as a land of skyscrapers, endless highways, and smiling faces. When his exchange program placed him at a high school in a small town in Oregon for ten months, he tried hard to hide his disappointment —— no skyscrapers, only endless pine trees and rain. Still, he told himself that adventure could bloom anywhere. From the first day, however, the gaps felt wider than the Pacific he had just crossed. His host family, though friendly, chatted away in slang he couldn't catch. At school, he couldn't get used to the loud slam of lockers, and the sour cheese smell in the cafeteria only sharpened his longing for Sichuan peppercorns. One Monday morning, when Mr. Brown asked him to read a short paragraph aloud in history class,he came across the word“castle” and pronounced every letter, which sent a ripple of giggles through the classroom and left his ears burning. That afternoon his literature teacher Ms. Carter announced the annual Story Slam: each contestant would tell a five- 学科网(北京)股份有限公司minute true story onstage the following Friday, and the one who moved the crowd most would skip the literature final exam. Yifan's first instinct was to withdraw—— the laughter in history class still rang in his ears. But that night, the thought of escaping the three-hour final exam stirred something in him. A story surfaced: the first time he and Grandpa leaned over a tiny pot of crimson oil, fishing tofu out of the steaming soup, laughing between hot bites. Then he typed, trimmed, and polished it until it was Slam-ready. However, the next morning he hesitated at the sign-up sheet. Mary, his only new friend, came over, patted his shoulder and whispered,“Tell the hot-pot story and I' ll help you practice after school.” Yifan felt the warmth that chili once sparked in his chest. He picked up the pen. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 On Story Slam Day, Yifan was the last storyteller. Unexpectedly, Yifan's winning story made the class hungry for more than hot-pot. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司
