This morning I got a stomachache after drinking some milk which was not fresh, and even now I’m still feeling weak. My doctor suggested that I avoid too much exercise and have a good rest. So I can’t play the game with you. But if you agree, I can invite another classmate who plays volleyball very well to join you. Or I can take part in the volleyball game with you next time. Please consider my suggestion seriously! Looking forward to your reply. Best wishes! Yours, Li Hua 听力原文 1 学科网(北京)股份有限公司Text1: W: Hi, James, how is your little Zoe today? You have a cute name for your daughter. M: Oh, you are flattering me. My wife said we should call her Allison, after her mother, but I thought it sounded out-of-date. Text2: M: I’m going to visit the bank. Do you need cash? W: No, but can you drop off this box at the post office and buy something to eat? M: I’ll deal with the mail and buy lunch on my way back. Text3: W: The bus isn’t supposed to arrive at this stop for another 30 minutes. I guess we’ll just have to wait until it comes. M: Normally I’d agree with you, but I’m only going to the next stop, and I feel like having a walk. Text4: W: Brown says he is good at cooking. Is that true? M: Well, he is always saying that and never fails to remind everyone of it. Text5: W: I’m sorry to bother you, but I can’t read the sign at this bus stop. Do you know if the bus to Jacksonville stops here? M: Oh, sorry, it doesn’t. You have to take the No.11 bus across the street. Text6: M: There’s a letter here for you, Mum. W: Thanks, Nelson. Oh, no, not another telephone bill. How can it be so much? You must have been using the phone all the time. M: I’m sorry. Only to speak to my friends. W: Well, why can’t you call them after 6 pm when it is cheaper? You’ll have to pay half of this bill out of your wages from your Saturday job. M: But Mum, that’s not fair. Text7: M: Have you figured out how much money we shall spend? W: Oh, yeah. The total amount is no less than 13,000 RMB, according to our route. M: What? That’s too much. W: Sit down. I’ll show you the list of our financial budget. First of all, it is nearly 8,000 RMB that we should spend on transportation. 2 学科网(北京)股份有限公司M: Ah, the transportation fee always takes a great part in the budget. W: Then we must pay a large amount of money for the hotel. But if we want to save money, we can choose a hotel which is not so good. M: Hmm, what I’m fearful of is that the living condition will be terrible once we choose a cheaper hotel. W: Then we can limit the cost of food. M: I agree. We can choose less expensive restaurants. Text8: W: Sorry to bother you, sir, but we’re looking into a report concerning the house opposite being broken into last night. We are speaking to everyone who lives in the neighborhood to investigate(调查) what happened. M: Goodness me, they’re friends of mine! Are they OK? Did they take anything? W: Everyone is fine, sir. A watch and some pieces of jewelry are missing, which has been upsetting, but thankfully no one was hurt. M: How awful, but I’m glad they are okay. W: May I ask you a few questions, sir? M: Of course. W: Did you see anything unusual around eleven o’clock last night? Something out of the ordinary, loud noises perhaps, or activity that you wouldn’t normally see outside? M: Now that you come to mention it, I did notice some flashing lights from the house opposite around that time. I remember thinking it was strange because they are an old couple and their lights are usually out by around ten o’clock. W: Did you see anyone? M: I did take a look as it happened. There was a white car parked outside their house. Oh, I’m so stupid — I should have realized something was happening!W: Is there anything else you can remember? Anything at all? Even if you don’t think it is important? M: Wait a minute! W: What is it? M: I forgot to say I have an outside security camera! It must have recorded everything! W: Excellent, sir! It may solve the case! Let’s take a look immediately! Text9: M: Hello, everyone. I’d like to introduce Sally Reacher, who is here today representing our True Blue Neighbors program. I want our company to give back to the community, so I’m giving each employee four hours off a week to help one organization. Sally will be introducing the opportunities. 3 学科网(北京)股份有限公司W: Thanks, Mr. Timms. Our biggest need is for tutoring volunteers at the local elementary school. We will provide training, of course, and all you have to do is give your time. M: I understand there are other opportunities besides the tutoring program at the elementary school. Can you tell us about some of them? W: We have groups that go to the local soup kitchen to help serve meals every week. And we also have teams that gather household items and take them to shelters. M: So, do my employees have to sign up? W: Of course not. It’s volunteer work, with “voluntary” being an important aspect of it. M: And how do we get involved? W: There’s a table at the back of the room with information sheets. You can look at all our organizations and choose where you’ll put your energy. Text10: M: Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States. Every year on Presidents’ Day, we honor him as one of the greatest presidents in our country’s history. Abe Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in Kentucky. At night, he liked to read by candlelight, but in the day he worked on his father’s farm. As an adult, he lived in Illinois and became a lawyer. He served in Congress where he spoke out against slavery. By the time Lincoln was elected to the president in 1860, the nation was horribly divided over the issue of slavery. Eleven southern states decided to “escape”from the United States. That meant they broke off to form their own nation, which then led to the American Civil War.President Lincoln fought to keep the U.S. together as one united country. In the “Gettysburg Address”, President Lincoln honored the thousands of soldiers who died on that battlefield. He called for the nation to come together so that the“government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth". After four long years, the American Civil War ended. Abraham Lincoln had kept the United States together in its most terrible crisis. Today, we remember him as a great leader who led his country out of its darkest hour. 4 学科网(北京)股份有限公司
