M: What made you want to be a v-logger?
W: Well, I learned photography with my Uncle Smith. After I won several awards, my sister said
to me,” why not teach anyone else to do it.” With my parents’ support, I started to post teaching
video online.
Text2:
M: Oh, God! Today is March 8th . I’ll take my driving test on March 10th. I have only two days to
prepare.
W: Are you sure? My birthday is tomorrow, on March 6th . I’m inviting some of friends.
M: Oh, yes! I made a mistake. How foolish I am!
Text3:
M: What’s up, Lucy? You are so upset. Did you fail the math exam again?
W: No. I can’t concentrate on my study in class.
M: Why? Are you sick or just lacking in sleeping?
W: The construction of the city subway is going on just beside my classroom. The roaring
machine, the whistling trucks, to name but a few.
Text 4:
W: Mike, I’m going to attend a cocktail party in my company tonight. What evening dress do you
suggest I wear?
M: There is a long black one, dotted with white stars. I think it can highlight your figure. Perhaps
the deep red one matches your necklace better. But I prefer the white dress I bought you last year.
W: I’ll take the second one.

M: What’s the time now?
W: Fifteen minutes to eight. The gala is going to start. The audiences are crowded with the
stadium. Thousands of fans are waiting in front of the TV at home.
M: Put away your phone. Here comes the taxi.

M: Oh, my goodness. Did I catch that?
W: Where is it, dad?
M: It’s on your hair, Lily. Oh, let me take...take a look.
W: OK. I’ll keep this posture and stand still.
M: Let me put away my camera. Now...it’s on my palm. We’d better put it back on the tree there.
Will you do it?
W: My pleasure.
M: Yes. Sit it up on that branch...Put it higher up the tree.
W: Am I right?
M: En...Seek a stronger branch, honey. The mother is right there, waiting to give its bird food...Oh
yes, just right there. You really did it very well. I’m proud of your kindness. So is your mum.

W: Have you heard that news? An industrial robot crushed a worker to death at a vegetableprocessing center.
M: Yes. It’s reported that a male worker suffered head and chest injuries.
W: How did that happen? Isn’t it an artificial intelligence powered robot?
M: Well, the machine’s sensors are designed to identify boxes. The security video suggested that
the man had moved near the robot with a box in his hands and this could have caused the
machine’s reaction.
W: Oh, my God. I hope we haven’t opened a Pandora’s box as the AI continues to develop.
M: You can put this case in your project report.

W: Look. The ground is covered by leaves. Shall we gather them?
M: Well, we’d better leave leaves on the ground. They will naturally break down over the winter
into rich organic matter. The matter also shelters many insects.
W: Amazing! It’s good for plants, environment and saving money.
M: But it’s important to consider the types of leaves and where they’re landing.
W: Really? Can you explain more?
M: Whole leaves should not be permitted to remain on walkways where they could make the path
dangerously slippery.
W: Right. Anything more?
M: They should also not be left on grass lawns. Although some grasses can handle a small amount
of leaf waste, too much can threaten their health. Whole leaves that cover grasses block water and
sunlight from reaching the soil below.
W: I see.
M: Some leaves prevent the growth of other plants. Black Walnut, for example, contains a poison
in its leaves that kills many plants, including apples, tomatoes, and potatoes.
W: Thanks. I’ll clean the whole leaves on the yard path before grandma goes out for shopping.

W: Come in and have a seat please.
M: Oh, thanks. I read your advertisement on the website. And I made an appointment online with
your Human Resources manager, Mr. Smith.
W: Let me see...Yes, you’re Mr. Click. Right?
M: Yes. I’m here to confirm some information.
W: No problem. But one of our sales representatives is giving a run-down on our most recent sales
figures. This will be important for company`s near-term future. Every department manager should
be there. So Mr. Smith is not available now. But I can give you relevant details if you like.
M: Yes, please. There is a post in the marketing department. And I’m good at marketing campaign
design.
W: Right. Your CV are more convincing than other applicants’.
M: What are my hours of work?
W: From 8:30am to 5:30pm a day. There is a half-hour lunch break. But you can get one day off
every week. And, you can choose to work from home at weekends.
M: How about the salary?
W: You get $10.5 an hour. But whether you take a personal day off or a sick day off at weekdays,
the boss will reduce some of your allowance.M: Thank you so much.

A report from a European climate service shows that November was very warm. It
was the second warmest November they have on record. This makes it likely that 2024
will be said to be the hottest year they've measured. Last year was the hottest before. But
after this summer, scientists thought 2024 would be even hotter. After this October, the
world's average temperature was 14.10 degrees. Up to December this year, it's 0.14
degrees higher than the same time last year. A climate expert said November was much
hotter than past Novembers. He also added that it was bad for people and nature.
Animals might die and food chains might change. Coastal places might have trouble
because of rising seas. Some scientists said ocean heat and less sea ice made the
temperature go up. The amount of Antarctic Sea ice in November was low. Oceans take
in a lot of heat from gases and give it back. Last year was hot because of a Pacific
warming. But this year, the usual cooling after it didn't happen. Scientists are confused
about why it's still hot. One idea is that the warming makes more heat in the air.
