中国迎来全国高血压日

China Marks National Hypertension Day

October 8 is China's National Hypertension Day. This year is the 29th one. The theme is “Control Your Blood Pressure and Blood Sugar.”

High blood pressure is often called a “silent killer.” More than 300 million adults in China have it. Many of them feel fine, but high blood pressure quietly hurts the heart, the brain and the kidneys.

Doctors share some easy tips. Eat less salt, and keep it under 5 grams a day. Eat more vegetables and fruit. Exercise five times a week, and each time for 30 minutes. Sleep well and do not smoke. It is never too early to start.

Flying in China Will Cost a Little More

Flying inside China will cost a little more soon. From October 10, every plane ticket sold in China will include a higher fuelsurcharge.

For a short flight of 800 kilometres or less, each adult passengerpays 50 yuan. For a longer flight, each adult pays 90 yuan. Babies do not pay this fee at all, and children pay only half.

The fee changes with oil prices. It went down early this year and then rose. Now it goes up by 10 to 20 yuan. Tickets are still cheap now, because the long holiday has just ended, so it is a good time to travel.

A big table tennis match is going on in Beijing. On October 8, two young Chinese players, Wen Ruibo and Yuan Licen, played in the men's doubles at the WTT China Smash.

They beat a Singapore pair 3:0. The three scores were 11:8, 11:8 and 11:7. Now they are one of the four best teams in this event. China had other pairs, but they have all gone out.

Their next match will be very hard. They will play the world's number one pair, the Lebrun brothers from France. “We will fight for every point,” Yuan said after the match. Both players are still young, but they are getting better and better.
