(Text 3)

M: Just a moment.⑥You especially wanted a big garden, didnt you?
W: ⑥Yes, thats right. My husband and I are both keen gardeners.
M: There is a house with large front and back gardens. You can take a walk along the river near the house.
W: What sort of age is the house?
M: Well, it was built in the 1980s so it’s fairly typical of the time — very well built.
W: What about parking? ⑦Those old houses often dont have a garage and we dont want to leave the car on the
street.
M: No problem. ⑦Theres a large double garage.
W: Good. Maybe Ill come and look at it tomorrow.
(Text 7)
M: Are you feeling OK, Jean? You look pretty tired. Whats the matter?
W: ⑧My sister and I had a birthday party for my brother last night. I didnt get much sleep.
M: Where did you have the party?
W: It was at my aunt’s house. Then right after the party,⑨I had to start typing a history paper that was due

M: Id like to know how you did it. ⑩I cant handle a pressure situation like that.

{#{QQABBY4QggAgAJBAARhCEwEqCgAQkBECAQgGAEAAsAABAAFABAA=}#}W: It is. But theyre so different. One of the jobs is a sales representative for a big computer company.
That job would be good because I could travel to Europe and Asia. Id love that. And the other good thing
about it is the pay. I could really make lots of money, as long as I sold a lot of computers.
M: Right. Your pay would depend on how many computers you sold every month. That could be a challenge.
So, whats the other job?
W: Its a computer company, too, but a much smaller one. The job has good points, too. Id have a steady
income — the same salary every month. It would be good to know exactly how much money I could earn in
every month. And its a small company thats growing. I could be a manager in a few years.
M: Thats good.
W: Yeah, I dont know though. But Ive been wanting to travel. Maybe its time for a challenge.

第四部分 写作
第一节
One possible version:
My desk has accompanied me for many years, and some of the items on it do have special meanings for
me.
Of all the things on my desk, the clock on the left side is the most meaningful for me. It is an obvious
reminder of the saying: Time and tide wait for no man. Whenever I want to be lazy, the sound of the clock tells
me to value time. Besides, the bookshelf in the middle indicates the power of knowledge. The books, whether
textbooks or extracurricular ones, satisfy my curiosity, offer me excellent stories and enrich my life. I can’t
imagine how boring my life would be without them.
I hope my desk will always be a part of my life, witness my progress and lead me to a successful life.
第二节
On possible version:
As she collected her baggage she realized the truth.
, She fixed her eyes upon the packet of cookies which was
left untouched. It struck her that she had mistaken gentleman for a rude man. Blood rushed to her face, shame
burning in her heart. “What shall I say to the true gentleman?” she was a t loss. Despite being misunderstood,
the man remained gentle and kind. At the thought of this sight, she felt her face burning with embarrassment.
Fortunately, no one found her blushing with shame. She was pacing to and fro, thinking of a solution. Anyway,
she needed to account for the mistake.
She caught sight of the man who greeted her with a smile.
, The man nodded at her. However, she stood
there, dodging the mans eyes. The gentleman seemed to understand what had happened between them.
Responding to him with a weak smile, she produced her cookie and handed it to the man. He lent an ear to the
woman who explained the funny incident. On the day that fol、| lowed, when the woman came to her new
employment, she came across the gentleman again, who turned out to be her boss. What a coincidence!
