组合练二 Ⅰ.阅读理解 A (2021·南通市高三第一次调研) An afternoon nap (午睡) is one of the joys of life, although too much napping could signal all is not well.In some cultures, people will have a daily nap—this is fine. The warning comes when people start sleeping during the daytime, when they did not sleep before. There is certainly a good reason to believe that daytime sleepiness—as in the Alzheimer’s disease study—can be a marker of an underlying condition. “For most people, napping during the day is mainly a sign that you are not getting enough sleep at nigh,” says Dr.Neil Stanley, a sleep expert.“If you feel sleepy during the day, you should think about taking a nap. That is what the body needs—it doesn’t need to be kept awake with caffeine. It needs sleep.” The feeling to notice is “sleepiness” , he says, not “tiredness”, which could be more psychological and linked to stress. So how do you nap well? “The key thing,” says Stanley, “is how long your nap lasts.” Choose either a 20- or 90-minute nap.“When you fall asleep, you’ll quickly go through the lighter stages of sleep into your first period of deep sleep. You don’t want to wake up because that’s when you wake and feel worse than you did before.” Napping for 20 minutes means you will wake up before you go into deep sleep;napping for 90 minutes means you’ll complete a sleep cycle. Once you factor in the time it takes to fall asleep— “Some people are better at napping than others but, ”says Stanley,“a healthy adult will fall asleep in between 5 and 12 minutes.”—you can set an alarm, allowing a 30- to 40-minute period for a short nap, and up to two hours for a longer one. A good time to nap is during the body’s natural dip in the afternoon, between 2 pmand 4 pm.“You don’t really want to be napping much past that because then you are going to be eating into your night-time sleep,” Stanley says. The point, he stresses, is to get good night-time sleep, which would ensure you probably don’t need to nap at all. 1.What does an afternoon nap indicate for most people? A.Caffeine addiction. B.Psychological stress. C.Insufficient night sleep. D.Potential physical illness. 2. What is the key to a good nap? A.Duration. B.Surroundings. C.Health. D.Stages. 3. What does the underlined word “that” in the last paragraph refer to? A.A 30-to 40-minute period. B.Between 2 pm and 4 pm. C.Between 5 and 12 minutes. D.A 20-to 90-minute period. 4. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A.Why to phase a nap B.When to take a good nap C.What to learn from a nap D.How to have a successful nap B (2021·福州市3月质量检测) Can a fish be depressed? This question has been on my head ever since I spent a night in a hotel across from a sad-looking fish. His name was Bruce Lee. The pleasant woman at the front desk assured me that he was well taken care of.Was I incorrectly assuming his laziness was a sign of being upset? When I sought answers from scientists, I assumed that they would find the question ridiculous, but they did not.New research has been totally shifting the way thatscientists think about fish cognition (认知),building a case that pet and owner are not nearly as different as many assume. The neurochemistry (神经化学) is so similar that it’s scary, said Julian Pittman, a professor. We tend to think of them as simple living things, but there is a lot we don’t give fish credit for. Dr.Pittman likes working with fish, in part, because they are so obvious about their depression.A zebrafish gets dropped in a new tank.If after five minutes it is hanging out in the lower half, it’s depressed. If it’s swimming up the top, then it’s not. Is depression the right word? There’s an obvious issue that we cannot ask animals how they feel, says Dr.Diego A.Pizzagalli.Neither fish nor rats can catch the entire range of depression as we know it. There is a heated debate about whether “anxious” or “depressed” is a more appropriate term. But what has convinced Dr.Pittman and others over the past ten years is watching the way the zebrafish lose interest in just about everything: food, toys, exploration, just like clinically depressed people who are withdrawn. The same is true of fish. One of the things we’re finding is that fish are naturally curious and seek novel things out, said Dr.Braithwaite.In other words, your goldfish is probably bored. To help get rid of depression, she urges introducing new objects to the tank or switching the locations of items. 5. What is Paragraph 3 mainly about? A.Fish are considered simple living things. B.Pet and owner are always assumed to be the same. C.Scientists have learnt a lot about fish cognition. D.Fish and human beings have something in common. 6. What does the underlined word “withdrawn” in Paragraph 6 probably mean? A.Quiet and shy. B.Happy and excited. C.Interested and careful. D.Disappointed and surprised. 7.Why can fish become bored according to the text?A.They need oxygen from the air. B.They are not born to be curious. C.They lack new things to explore. D.They can’t locate the positions of items. 8.What might be the best title for the text? A. Fish Depression Is Not a Joke B.Fish Can Be a Boring Pet C.Fish Need Better Care More D.Fish Cognition Does Not Exist Ⅱ.七选五 (2021·湖北十一校第二次联考) It’s been a hard year but, while we can’t change what’s happening in the world,we can focus on creating a positive atmosphere. No more negative energy. __1__ Hard times are rubbish, but they make you what you are.Recognize that and know that if you can come through them you will be more capable and more confident. It’s a lucky person indeed who manages to avoid upset as they go through life; what’s important is how you deal with it.
