A poor man had an orange tree in his garden. One day, he found one of his oranges was much bigger than the
others. It was as big as a football. Nobody had ever seen such a big orange. The poor man wanted to get some
money, so he took the big orange to the king. The king was so happy that he gave the man a lot of money for it.
When a rich man heard of it, he said to himself, “It’s only an orange. Why did the king give so much money for it?
I’ll take my gold cup to the king. I’m sure he will give me more money.” The next day, when the king received the
gold cup, he said to the rich man “What a beautiful cup! I will give you something valuable in return.” Then, he
gave the big orange to the rich man.

One day, Alice was sitting with her sister by the river. Her sister was reading a book. Alice had nothing to do. Once

Then the rabbit took a watch out of its pocket and looked at it. Alice thought it was strange. She stood up and
followed the rabbit. She fell into a very deep hole on the way. After that Alice had a lot of adventures in

Do you know when people began to fly in the air? Let me tell you about it. In 1903, the Wright brothers made the
people’s dream of flying come true. The Wright brothers were from America. They made the world’s first plane.
They became interested in flying when they were still children. They spent years studying how birds fly in the sky.
On December 17th, 1903, they did their first flying test on their plane. It was the first successful flight with men in
history. Now, the plane is kept in a museum in Washington D.C.
