My name is Vivien. I became a volunteer three years ago. I know voluntary work means a lot to those in need
because I was once helped. When I was five, my leg was badly hurt in an accident. The doctor said I had to stay in
hospital for at least half a year. In the beginning, I couldn’t move and often felt sad. I even cried at night. But things
started to change when a boy called Steve came to visit me. The first time he came, he brought me some interesting
comic books and talked with me. Then he often told me funny stories, played games with me and encouraged me.
What he did made me very happy. He visited me twice a week until I was well enough to go back to school. I want
to say thank you to him. And now I offer help to the children without parents.

Hi, I’m Joe. I am a member of the Animal Club in our school. Today I want to share something about my
experience of helping a lost cat with you. On a cold afternoon two years ago, I found a dirty cat near my home.
She kept meowing to me. I felt sorry for her and took her back home. My mum asked me to clean the cat first and I
found she was a beautiful white cat. Then we fed her and gave her some toys to play with. My mum said the cat
must have lost her way home. So the next day, I put up a lost and found note. Soon someone called and we gave the
cat back to her owner. Later I joined the Animal Club and started to help more animals.

After hearing her words, Mary thought that she could do something for the poor children. After school, she went
home at once. She took out all her pocket money and went to the post office near her house. Then she sent the
money to Project Hope. She felt very happy after that.
