Water is very important. As the saying goes, water is the symbol of life. Plants and animals need
water. Without water, there will be no life on Earth. But we are now wasting a large amount of water in our
daily lives. And what shall we do?
There are several ways we can do to save water. Firstly, take shorter showers and don’t leave the tap running
when we don’t need to use water. Secondly, try to reuse water. It’s the most important way for us to save water.
For example, after washing clothes, we can use the water to wash the toilet. At last, in order to make rivers and
lakes clean, we must try our best to stop all kinds of pollution, such as throwing rubbish into rivers or lakes
and keep them clean, and have fresh water for years and years. In these ways, we can save not only a huge

Water is very important to us. We can’t live without it.
There is a lot of water on the Earth, but we can’t use most of it. About 97% of the Earth’s water is salty. Most
of the fresh water is snow and ice near the North and South poles.
We can use only about 1% of the water on the Earth. We use water from both lakes and rivers. Some of the
water goes into the sky and then becomes rain. Of course we use rain water for farms and other things. We use this
water again and again.
Sometimes the Earth’s water is in the wrong place. There is a lot of rain in the tropics（热带地区）, but it
is difficult to have farms in the tropics. Most of the land there is not very rich. Some desert land is rich, but there
is only a little water in the desert.
