Australia is a beautiful country. The air is fresh and the water is clean there as the government is working hard
to fight against pollution. Last month, I visited Perth, the biggest city in Western Australia and went to a wild
flower show. There were a large number of wild flowers that I had never seen before. I had a wonderful time.
After visiting Perth, I spent the day in the countryside. I sat down and had a rest at the foot of a hill. It was quiet
and I enjoyed myself. Suddenly I heard bells ringing at the top of the hill. To my surprise, there were about three
hundred sheep coming down from the hill. Australia is famous for its sheep and kangaroos. After a short drivefrom any town, you will find yourself in the middle of white sheep.

Earth Day started on 22 April, 1970 in California. It is an international event which calls for people’s
attention to environmental protection. Every year, many countries celebrate this important day by doing different
things. In Australia, some people go to the beaches which are covered with rubbish like empty bottles and plastic
bags. They pick up all the litter to make the beaches become beautiful and clean. In Kenya, some students hike
into an endangered forest and plant new trees there. In China, young volunteers clean up the rivers near the
cities.

Air pollution is serious in many countries and the harmful gases from factories, power stations and cars are
the main causes. The harmful gases can cause a lot of damage. When they get into the air, they may mix with
clouds. Then they will become some harmful chemicals falling on the ground with rain and pollute the land and
water. To control air pollution, there are many ways. Developing energy friendly to the environment is very
popular in many countries. China, for example, is trying hard to make use of energy from the Sun and wind. It
has spent a lot making electric cars and trains to displace the traditional ones. What’s more, every little step we
take can help reduce air pollution. For example, we should use public transport instead of driving cars.
We have only one Earth and clean air is important for us. So, let’s work together to fight against air pollution!
