sources. I’m cautious about fully trusting information generated by artificial intelligence without double-checking
it though.
W: I do see your point. ChatGPT might increase your efficiency, but you should definitely cross-check its results
with other sources.

18.How did the speaker’s grandfather die?
A.Due to a disease.
B.During a charity event.
C.Because of a plane crash.
19.Why did the speaker decide to skydive?
A.To help some patients.
B.To have fun with friends.
C.To overcome a fear of heights.
20.What does the speaker think was the best aspect about the skydive?
A.Falling from 2,000 meters.
B.Hearing stories about Alzheimer’s.
C.Raising a large amount of money.
【答案】18.A 19.A 20.B
M: If you’d told me a year ago that I’d be jumping out of a plane, I’d have laughed. I hated heights. It’s not
the kind of thing I enjoy doing with friends! But something changed after my grandad passed away from
Alzheimer’s. I wanted to do something meaningful that could help others affected by the same disease. So, I
signed up for a charity skydive. I’d never even done a bake sale before!
We watched a safety video and we jumped from 4,000 meters. The free fall lasted for one minute, and we
dropped at 200 kilometers per hour. I worked out that meant I fell roughly 3,300 meters before the parachute (降
落伞) opened.
It was peaceful. You’d expect panic, but instead I felt calm. Everything looked so small, and yet I felt part
of something huge,
The great part? We raised £8,452 — the highest amount anyone in our area has ever raised for Alzheimer's.
But even better than the total was hearing people talk about their experience with this illness. So many had been
through the same as my grandad.
I still don't love heights, so I’ve not overcome that fear. But I’ve learned that sometimes, doing something scary
opens doors — and hearts.

Top Power Banks for Charging on the Go
To find you the best power banks for your electrical emergencies, I put 4 top models through their paces.
Belkin BoostCharge Pro
◆
If you need a highly capable power bank that can recharge your laptop and smartphone, this model would
be a fine choice.
Why we love it: Charging didn’t slow down much when I plugged in two devices at once.
It’s a shame that... the on-screen metrics are slightly less detailed than those on some competing brands.
Capacity: 20,000mAh, £59.99 at Amazon.
Anker Nano
◆
Quick and small enough to carry in a trouser pocket, it is ideal for lightly recharging a smartphone.
Why we love it: It’s minimalistic. I’m a big fan of its fold-out USB-C connector, which can be directly
plugged into your phone.
It’s a shame that... you’d need something more powerful to charge your laptop.
Capacity: 5,000mAh, £29.84 at Amazon.
Belkin BoostCharge
◆
It’s hard to believe this is a cheap option. It speedily charges smartphones and other lower-powered devices.
Why we love it: Neat and impressively light, this is one of those rare power banks that you can carry in a
jacket pocket.
It’s a shame that... charging two devices at once reduces the maximum total output from 20W to 15W.
Capacity: 10,000mAh, £9.99 at Amazon.
RAVPower Charger
◆
A reliable and outstanding option for those who need a balance between power and portability.
Why we love it: The multiple charging ports allow you to charge different devices simultaneously. Its fast-
charging technology ensures that your devices get a quick boost.
It’s a shame that… it lacks the advanced on-screen metrics that some high-end power banks offer.
Capacity: 15,000mAh, £49.99 at Amazon.
21.What is a feature of Anker Nano ?
A.Its large capacity.
B.Its direct-charging connector.
C.Its on-screen-display design.
D.Its fast-charging technology.
22.Which power bank offers the best value for money?
A.Belkin BoostCharge Pro.
B.Anker Nano.
C.Belkin BoostCharge.
D.RAVPower Charger.
23.Where is the text probably from?
A.A product review.
B.A research paper.
C.A fashion magazine.
D.A current affairs journal.
【答案】21.B 22.C 23.A
根据Anker Nano 的介绍“Why we love it: It’s minimalistic. I’m a big fan of its fold-out
USB-C connector, which can be directly plugged into your phone.(我们喜欢它的原因:它简约实用。
根据Belkin BoostCharge 中“Capacity:10,000mAh, £9.99 at Amazon.(容量:
结合“speedily charges smartphones(快速为智能手机充电)”可知它能
故选A 项。
B
For over twenty years, fried chicken had been my absolute favorite food. I would have it at least three times
a week, whether it was from a fast- food joint, a local diner, or even homemade. I planned my outings around
places that served delicious fried chicken. There were times when I tried to cut back on it, especially when I
started to gain some weight, but I always ended up giving in to my cravings within a few days.
This year, a series of events changed my relationship with fried chicken forever. I began experiencing
frequent stomachaches and indigestion. Doctors couldn’t directly link these problems to fried chicken, but I
noticed that every time I ate it, my discomfort worsened. Additionally, I started to realize that the once-
mouthwatering smell and taste now left a heavy, greasy feeling in my mouth that I couldn’t ignore. One evening,
after finishing a large bucket of fried chicken, I felt so sick that I couldn’t sleep well all night. That was the
turning point. I decided that enough was enough, after two decades of indulgence.
Why was it so hard to let go before? Is there really something addictive in fried chicken? While there’s no
official “fried chicken addiction” listed in medical books, experts point out factors that could contribute to its
allure. Dr. Johnson from a nutrition research center mentions two main elements: the high-fat content and the
combination of spices. The high-fat content triggers the release of endorphins in the brain, making us feel good,
while the unique blend of spices stimulates our taste buds, making us want more.
Now, I’m on Day 35 of my “fried-chicken-free” journey. The first week was tough. I had strong cravings
and even felt a bit down at times, almost like going through a mild withdrawal. But as the days passed, I started to
feel better. My stomach problems became less frequent, and I even noticed that I had more energy. I’m really
proud of myself for breaking this long-standing habit. If I can overcome my love for fried chicken, I believe I can
overcome any other challenging habit in my life.
24.What can be inferred about the author from the first paragraph?
A.Fried chicken was only a casual part of the author’s diet.
B.The author never worried about the health risks of eating fried chicken.
C.The author had a deep and long-lasting love for fried chicken.
D.The author successfully reduced the intake of fried chicken several times.
25.What led the author to give up fried chicken?
A.A doctor’s strict order.
B.Health problems and an unpleasant feeling after eating.
C.A newfound dislike for the smell of chicken.
D.A friend’s advice on a healthier diet.
26.What does the underlined word “allure” in paragraph 3 probably mean?
A.harm
B.cost
C.waste
D.attraction
27.How does the author feel about giving up fried chicken?
A.Regretful
B.Confused
C.Satisfied
D.Uncertain.
For over twenty years, fried chicken had been my absolute favorite food. I
would have it at least three times a week, whether it was from a fast- food joint, a local diner, or even homemade.
I planned my outings around places that served delicious fried chicken. There were times when I tried to cut back
on it, especially when I started to gain some weight, but I always ended up giving in to my cravings within a few
days.
I began experiencing frequent stomachaches and indigestion. Doctors
couldn’t directly link these problems to fried chicken, but I noticed that every time I ate it, my discomfort
worsened. Additionally, I started to realize that the once- mouthwatering smell and taste now left a heavy, greasy
feeling in my mouth that I couldn’t ignore. One evening, after finishing a large bucket of fried chicken, I felt so
sick that I couldn’t sleep well all night. That was the turning point.
Why was it so hard to let go before? Is there really something addictive in
fried chicken? While there’s no official “fried chicken addiction” listed in medical books, experts point out factors
that could contribute to its allure.(为什么以前那么难戒掉呢?
I’m really proud of myself for breaking this long- standing habit. If I
can overcome my love for fried chicken, I believe I can overcome any other challenging habit in my life.(我为自
C
I’ve written at length about how playful writing exercises gave me my career (as an internationally
bestselling and award-winning novelist published in over thirty languages). Given how necessary this practice has
been to my successes — I know it’s worth it to make time to play.
There are a lot of reasons why, but the most important one is also the hardest to explain, because it has to
do with the mystery of creativity itself. Where do ideas come from or, having come, how do they grow? What is
imagination, and how do we level up, get to the good stuff deep within ourselves? How do we get to that place
beyond worry and plot and analysis, where story lives and breathes and characters come to life and language
blooms and sparks?
Me, I don’t get there easily. I’ve always struggled with perfectionism. For years, “writing” for me meant
polishing sentences to a high gloss while daydreaming about the books I would one day write. There was a huge
disconnect between my fantasy future career and my actual habits and practice. But eventually the absurdity of
that disconnect became so glaring that I had to either get past it or give up the dream, and that’s when I started
developing strategies to actually write not just high-gloss sentences, but stories, even novels.
I got there by going around my perfectionism, and the best way I know to do that is: yeah, playful writing
exercises. They allow me to fall into a much deeper well of creativity, even sometimes into that mysterious place
where it feels like it’s not coming “from” me but “through” me. It honestly feels like magic.
To make a long explanation short: A practice of playful, non-goal-oriented writing exercise can loosen you
up and even train your brain to access a flow state, with huge benefits that are necessary both for your spirit and
your work.
28.Why does the author ask the questions in Paragraph 2?
A.To turn to readers for answers.
B.To criticize traditional writing.
C.To stress the complexity of creativity.
D.To show off his talents and achievements.
29.What problem did the author face in the early writing practice?
A.Focusing too much on perfecting sentences.
B.Lack of creative ideas and writing skills.
C.Feeling confused about the future career. D.Pressure from international publishers.
30.How does the author describe the feeling of accessing deep creativity?
A.A magical outcome.
B.A well-designed plan.
C.A tough experience.
D.An easy practice process.
31.What is the best title for the text?
A.Writing for best-sellers
B.Creating Successful Novels
C.Perfectionism in Writing
D.Unlocking Creativity through Play
【答案】28.C 29.A 30.A 31.D
There are a lot of reasons why, but the most important one is also the hardest to
explain, because it has to do with the mystery of creativity itself. Where do ideas come from or, having come, how
do they grow? What is imagination, and how do we level up, get to the good stuff deep within ourselves? How do
we get to that place beyond worry and plot and analysis, where story lives and breathes and characters come to
life and language blooms and sparks?(造成这种情况的原因有很多,但其中最重要的原因也是最难解释的,
Where do ideas come
I’ve always struggled with perfectionism. For years, “writing” for me meant
polishing sentences to a high gloss while daydreaming about the books I would one day write.
故选A。
故选A。
I got there by going around my perfectionism, and the best way I know to do

Sora is said to outperform many other existing models with similar functions. The AI model can create
videos at suitable aspect ratios (屏幕高宽比) for different devices, such as both widescreen videos and vertical
(竖的) videos that we usually see on social media. This allows it to offer diverse products. It also lets users
quickly test out content in lower quality before making the high-quality version, which helps speed up output.
Aside from this, its ability to present videos in a realistic and smooth manner is astonishing. Sora can create
detailed scenes with several characters, specific types of motion, and accurate subject and background details
while generating multiple shots within a single video. Beyond the user’s requests, it also understands how these
elements exist in the real world. For example, reflections in the water change as a woman walks by a lake.
Sora’s amazing performance wouldn’t be possible without its helpful assistant, ChatGPT, which transforms
simple sentences into detailed descriptions, improving the accuracy of output according to the user’s prompts (提
示语).
However, the current model isn’t perfect. It may have trouble accurately showing how things move in a
complicated scene and might not get how one action leads to another. For example, if someone eats part of a
cookie in a Sora-made video, the cookie might not look like it’s been bitten into. The model might mix up
directions like left and right, and find it hard to describe events in the right order. One possible reason is that Sora
learns each basic unit of a video, known as a spacetime patch (时空补丁), independently, according to an online
post by the Institute of Physics, the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
As of February, Sora is still in the testing stage of development. OpenAI is now inviting cybersecurity
professionals to make random attacks on Sora’s system, aiming to test the model’s possible weaknesses and risks.
Sora has also been open to some visual artists, designers and filmmakers. Their feedback will assist OpenAI in
enhancing the model to better serve creative professionals.

【答案】32.C 33.A 34.B 35.D
Sora is said to outperform many other existing models with similar
以及第三段“Aside from this, its ability
to present videos in a realistic and smooth manner is astonishing.
Sora’s amazing performance wouldn’t be possible without its helpful
assistant, ChatGPT, which transforms simple sentences into detailed descriptions, improving the accuracy of
output according to the user’s prompts (提示语).
A。
However, the current model isn’t perfect. It may have trouble
accurately showing how things move in a complicated scene and might not get how one action leads to another.
For example, if someone eats part of a cookie in a Sora-made video, the cookie might not look like it’s been bitten
into.
As of February, Sora is still in the testing stage of development.

drastically changing your appearance using artificial intelligence tools. 37 . Therefore, try to highlight
your natural beauty.
● 38
Don’t fall into the trap of comparing yourself to unrealistic standards when editing your images. Comparing
yourself to others can negatively affect your confidence and emotional well-being. Give importance to your
personal accomplishments and celebrate your authenticity rather than seeking recognition through outward
appearance.
● Share valuable content
If you want to have a positive social media presence, think twice before posting the image you just edited.
39 . But you shouldn’t depend on them. Share inspiration, motivation, and personal goals to foster a positive

A.Avoid social comparisons
B.Focus on inner feelings
C.Keep in mind that AI tools can be great helpers
D.That keeps you better connected with your audience
E.Honest representation contributes to a more positive body image for you
F.Here are some recommendations when editing images for your social networks
G.On the whole, never underestimate the power of the things you post on social media
【答案】36.F 37.E 38.A 39.C 40.G
36.根据上文“In a world where screens often blur ( 模糊
) the line between reality and representation,
taking care of your emotional well-being is key to avoiding destructive thoughts and unnecessary comparisons.(在
的建议,所以F 项“Here are some recommendations when editing images for your social networks(在为你的
Remember that it’s okay to edit your photos or videos a bit if it makes you feel more
confident. Avoid drastically changing your appearance using artificial intelligence tools.(记住,如果能让你感觉
to a more positive body image for you(诚实的展示有助于给你一个更积极的身体形象)”填入空格处,符合语
境。且E 项与下文的句子“Therefore, try to highlight your natural beauty.(因此,尽量突出你的自然美。)”
Don’t fall into the trap of comparing yourself to unrealistic
standards when editing your images. Comparing yourself to others can negatively affect your confidence and
emotional well-being. Give importance to your personal accomplishments and celebrate your authenticity rather
than seeking recognition through outward appearance.(在编辑图像时,不要陷入将自己与不切实际的标准进
故选A 项。
39.根据空格后的句子“But you shouldn’t depend on them.(但是你不应该依赖它们。)”
该提到不应该依赖的东西是什么,并且这些东西应该是有用的,所以C 项“Keep in mind that AI tools can
be great helpers(请记住,人工智能工具可以是很好的帮手)”填入空格处,符合语境。
A study in Applied Psychology suggested that people who are exposed to negative
news and images on the Internet are at an increased risk of depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
所以G 项“On the whole,
never underestimate the power of the things you post on social media(总的来说,永远不要低估你在社交媒体

One day, during a lively school class, Mrs. Thompson asked everyone about their dream jobs. The
classroom suddenly got filled with eager voices as classmates enthusiastically shared their dreams. “I want to be a
college professor,” said Sarah confidently. “I dream of becoming a basketball player,” exclaimed Mike with light
in his eye. The air was filled with dreams of doctors, nurses, bank accountants, and various professions.
When Mrs. Thompson turned her attention to me, inquiring about my future career, I hesitated. “I don’t
know yet,” I admitted. Then she asked if I wished to follow in my dad’s footsteps. “No,” I responded firmly.
My dad is a distinguished doctor with a demanding schedule, who often finds himself engaged in the
responsibilities of his job. Thus, he often returns home late in the evening. The limited time we spent together
during my upbringing created a noticeable distance in our relationship. I had such a lot to complain about his job
and thus being a doctor would be the last option I would take.
After hearing my answer, Mrs. Thompson didn’t make any comment. Instead, she advised me to think more
about that.
A turning point came when our school decided to stage a New Year’s play. It was the grandest event of the
year, and we had been preparing for it for a long time. Preparing for our roles, I needed to buy costume.
Unfortunately, my mom had to travel to another city for work, so it fell upon my dad to accompany me.
Reluctantly (不情愿地), Iagreed, realizing there was no other option.
In the mall, it became evident that my dad was clueless about the items on the shopping list. Despite Mom
providing a detailed list, we wandered through different floors, in and out between different shops before finally
getting everything we needed. And I was getting more and more uncomfortable.
Suddenly, a chaos drew our attention. A crowd had gathered, and someone was shouting for help. It turned
out that an elderly customer had a fall, and onlookers were at a loss on how to assist.

【答案】one possible version
My dad rushed forward. And I followed suit. “Stay calm, everyone. We need to act quickly,” after he
figured out what was going on, he gestured for everyone to remain calm and call emergency services. He started
performing first aid, which immediately put those around him at ease. Soon, an ambulance arrived. Thanks to my
dad’s timely intervention, the patient regained consciousness, gaining crucial time for further treatment. Then the
patient was rushed to the hospital.
Witnessing the scene there, I suddenly realized the value of my dad’s work. On the way back home, I
thanked Dad, not only for accompanying me to the shopping mall, but also for saving the customer and helping
me understand the worth of adult professions. A few days after the play, Mrs. Thompson asked me if I had
changed my mind. I replied proudly with a definite “yes,” The journey through the mall had totally reshaped my
perspective on the significance of every kind of work and taught me that I should never judge the value of
people’s work at will.
