听力录音:
(Text 1)
W: Tim, how are the plans for the end-of-term party going?
M: They’re going well. I booked the hall for the evening and found a school band to play. I haven’t ordered the food yet, but I’m going to do it this afternoon.
(Text 2)
W: Hi Ben. Have you heard about the new show in town? It’s on Wednesday, Friday andon Saturday morning. Do you fancy coming along with me?
M: Well, this weekend is no good for me, and I play basketball on Wednesdays, but I’m free on Friday.
W: Good. See you then.
(Text 3)
M: Why don’t you buy this blue phone? It’s cool.
W: I prefer this black one. It’s £180 and I don’t have that much money at the moment. And I can’t believe it’s over a hundred years old.
M: What about this grey one? It’s only £75.
W: But I don’t have enough money to buy the one I really want. I’m going to wait.
(Text 4)
M: Look at this piece! I can’t believe it’s over a hundred years old. I wonder what inspired the artist.
W: Probably the same thingthat draws us here. — curiosity and wonder.
M: True! Every artwork feels like a new adventure.
(Text 5)
M: I’ve just had a word with your mum and she told me that I can decorate your room in any way youwant. It’s your choice.
W: Great! I’d like to change the color of the walls. I’m thinking of something calm.
(Text 6)
W: I hear you are going to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money for Children’s Trust. How’s your training going?
M: Actually, I decided not to do the climb. It’s just too dangerous. You may get a serious illness when you are so high on the mountain.
W: That’s a shame. I’m training for the marathon. Would you like to join me? Running long distances is a great way to raise money.
M: That sounds like a good idea.
(Text 7)
M: How was Jack’s party?
W: Great! He held it now instead of at the end of the school year, because he just heard that he was chosen for the national under-13 football team. His birthday is in August.
M: Cool. And your friend’s band played, right?
W: Yeah, they played songs from films. We wanted to dance, but the room was too small!
M: What about food?
W: Jack’s parents wanted to cook, but they were too busy to spare any time. So Jack asked everyone to bring snacks to share. That was cheaper than ordering pizza!
(Text 8)
M: Hi, Sally. So you’re back from New York. How was your trip?
W: Good. The conference there was successful. And I met some really interesting people there. But I’d go crazy if I lived there.
M: Why’s that?
W: Well, people there are always in a hurry. Everybody’s always running and running. No time to stop and think. Do you know what I mean?
M: Yes, of course. So what will you do if they offer you a job there? It’s quite possible. Our company is looking for new people to work there all the time.
W: Well, if it is only for a year or two, I might say yes. It would be good for my promotion.
M: But only for a short time?
W: Yes. If they want me for longer, I won’t accept it.
(Text 9)
M: Alice, you showed your designs in the London Fashion Show. How did you feel about that?
W: I was so lucky to get the chance.I never expected to be invited, but a famous designer asked me to join his team and show a couple of my designs. I hope it’ll give me more opportunities in the future as he mentioned my name in his speech.
M: What do you like most about your work?
W: I know many photographers and models who do a great job, but I’m quite shy so nothing makes me happier than sitting at my desk putting my ideas down on paper.I’m often away looking for new materials, especially in Asia, and when I am traveling, I miss working at home.
M: Would you like to try anything new?
W: Apart from designing, I’m interested in the production process, which can be done with a 3D printer. I’m exploring more possibilities of this as it reduces waste and uses recycled materials, which is important nowadays.
(Text10)
Welcome to my show.Today I want to share with you how I prepared for my travels. When I turned thirty, I decided to take time off to travel around the world. First, I had to save up money. I had some savings, but they weren’t enough. So, I spent the next six months spending less and making more money. I rented out my house and moved into a small flat. I kept my regular job and also took on part-time work. At the same time, I mapped out my trip. I didn’t want to visit only the most well-known spots; I planned to experience the cultures of different countries. While doing my research, I discovered many online communities around the world. People were sharing their experiences doing exactly what I was planning to do. I got in touch with them, and they provided valuable resources to help me plan the trip. I’ll share the websites of these online communities later for you to check out. In my next show, I’ll talk about some of my experiences on the trip.
