B I was a volunteer with the city of Milpitas, and was studying at mission college. One night after going to class, I was heading home and decided to stop off at a burrito(墨西哥卷饼)restaurant. I got my burrito and started to head for my car when I was approached by a homeless man. He was very dirty and obviously very hungry. He asked me for some change to buy a little food. As I was pulling some change out, I had an idea. I asked him to follow me back into the burrito restaurant to order. He was ashamed of the way he looked and said he did not want to go in there. But I insisted. When he finally followed me in, the people behind the counter refused to let him in, but I told them that I was buying him dinner and he had a right to be there. After we argued over it for a while, they finally gave in. It seemed like he was relieved a bit to be sitting at a table. I asked him to order whatever he wanted. But he only ordered a burrito. For someone who has been on the fringes(边缘)of society, he was very surprised at my generosity. But to me, it was what any “human being” should do or at least offer. You had to be there to see the look in his face. It reminded me when I was young and my mom brought out a big birthday cake for me on my birthday, with all the candy, chocolate and goodies that we were about to eat. I think he felt special, like he was getting attention, something that I could see he hadn’t experienced in a long time. I often think about this story because, to me, it’s not just about helping someone out by feeding them. It’s more about giving them the respect and dignity(尊严)of being a human being and allowing them to feel good about themselves. 24.Why did the homeless man approach the author? A.To ask for a lift. B.To beg for money. C.To request a burrito. D.To seek company. 25.What does the underlined word “it” in paragraph 2 refer to? A.Where to sit in the restaurant. B.What to order for the homeless man. C.Whether to buy dinner for the homeless man. D.Whether to allow the homeless man to enter the restaurant. 26.Why does the author mention his birthday in paragraph 3? A.To demonstrate his wonderful childhood. B.To stress the importance of enjoying a feast. C.To contrast his life with that of the homeless man. D.To describe the happy feelings of the homeless man. 27.What is the thing really worth doing according to the author?A.Treating others with respect. B.Ridding the world of hunger. C.Encouraging acts of kindness. D.Paying attention to the homeless. C A rare tornado warning was issued Tuesday for the New York City area, caused by severe thunderstorms that rolled through the region. While it’s uncommon for tornadoes to hit major cities like New York, scientists say that may not always be the case. There’s no special reason why tornadoes seem to miss big cities. It just comes down to chance. “Cities are small targets compared to vast stretches of forests, mountains or otherwise rural regions,” said Victor Gensini, a climatologist at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. “It’s very rare for a downtown metro business district to get hit.” But, as cities grow and developments spill beyond city limits, these areas become part of an “expanding bull’s-eye” effect. Though rare, tornadoes have hit big cities. In 1999, a strong tornado blew through Salt Lake City, causing one death and at least 81 injuries. In 2000,a tornado struck downtown Fort Worth, Texas, killing two people. And in 2008, a powerful tornado struck downtown Atlanta, killing one person and becoming the first on record to strike that city center. “These are very low probability events, but if and when they occur, they will likely be devastating.” Gensini said. Part of the danger of a tornado hitting an urban area is the huge amount of debris(残骸) such a storm would generate. “The big thing that you need to worry about is flying glass. There’s a lot more glass in New York City than in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where I live,” said Patrick Marsh, a meteorologist. In big cities like Chicago or New York City, there’s also a lot of tightly packed buildings, which could result in power cuts that affect a greater percentage of the local population, he added. But these increased risks don’t necessarily mean urban tornadoes will be more deadly. “In big cities, most of the structures are concrete or metal, so you have a lot of structures that the vast majority of tornadoes are not going to be able to break through,” Marsh said. 28.Why is it uncommon for tornadoes to hit major cities? A.It is a matter of choice. B.It is a matter of probability. C.It is due to the efforts of scientists D.It is due to the development of cities. 29.What does the author want to show by giving the examples of tornadoes in paragraph 3? A.Tornadoes can strike big cities. B.Tornadoes can cause deaths in big cities. C.Tornadoes in big cities are quite powerful. D.Tornadoes in big cities are rarely recorded. 30.What does the underlined word “devastating” in paragraph 4 mean? A.Predictable. B.Regular. C.Destructive. D.Special. 31.What does Marsh think of most of the buildings in big cities? A.They are unsafe to live in. B.They are elegantly designed. C.They are too crowded together. D.They are able to resist most tornadoes.D You want a potential partner to become attracted to you. If asked, should you say you’re interested in him or her? Perhaps, the best option would be to let him or her know you are interested. How can they know otherwise? Or perhaps, you should play a form of hard to get and tell him or her that you are not interested. After all, maybe we want more what we can’t have. A wide range of research suggests that the better option would be to let him or her know you are interested. In short, we tend to like people who we know like us. But, interestingly, according to a recent research published in Psychological Science, an even better choice might be to not let the other person know one way or the other. In this study, participants viewed Facebook profiles(简介)of several people. Participants were told that the people in the profiles were either interested in them, not interested in them, or that it was unsure if they were interested in them. Results found that people were more interested in the person in the Facebook profile if they thought the person was interested in them, than if they thought they were not. But, the Facebook profiles that were considered most attractive were the ones in which the profile’s owner may or may not have been interested in the participant. We have all heard that playing hard to get can work, but we also know that this could backfire. And we all have heard that we tend to like people who like us, but we also know that a little mystery is appealing. I imagine some readers at this point thinking, "God, this sounds like playing games. And, I hate that!"I am thinking the same thing, but I think it is important to realize these are first impressions and very early stages of attraction. At some point(dates later), not knowing where the other person stands could be incredibly frustrating. It would be interesting to see the effects of uncertainty on attraction in more long-term relationships. 32.According to the recent research, which is the best option when asked the question in paragraph 1? A.Admit our interest. B.Ignore the question. C.Leave it up in the air. D.Pretend to be uninterested. 33.What is paragraph 5 mainly about? A.A doubt about the research methods. B.An explanation of the research results. C.The complexity of the research process. D.The application of the research findings. 34.What is the author’s attitude toward the research findings? A.Unclear. B.Dismissive. C.Doubtful. D.Approving. 35.Which of the following can be a suitable title for the text? A.Uncertainty Fuels Attraction B.Playing Hard to Get No Longer Works C.Tips on Being Mysterious in a Relationship D.Secrets to a Healthy Long-term Relationship 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 There is a moment of awe(敬畏)that washes over you when you step into a forest. Century-old trees tower above, sunlight twinkling through them. Birds tweet. 36 How peaceful! Decades ofresearch has shown that “forest bathing” is good for your health. Here is how you can gain health benefits from it. Find a location where you’re surrounded by trees. 37 But if you live far away from one or don’t have the means to get there, any place that has a lot of trees and quiet spaces will do. Set aside a good amount of time. To gain the ultimate rewards of forest bathing, plan to spend two to six hours in the woods, says Qing Li, a researcher on forest bathing. 38 Another study found that participants who walked in the forest for two hours in the morning and two hours in the afternoon saw an increase in anti-cancer proteins and immune(免 疫的)cells. 3 9 Your forest bathing session is not the time to squeeze(挤)in your hard exercise. Instead, it is about calming down your nervous system and reducing your heart rate and blood pressure. If you exert yourself too much physically, your tiredness will reduce the effect of forest bathing. Breathe in the scents of the forest Many of the benefits of forest bathing come when we breathe in the chemicals that trees release into the air, called phytoncides. They can reduce our stress hormones and increase our levels of white-blood cells known as natural killer cells. What if you can’t make it to a forest? 4 0 A.Aim to reduce heart rate. B.Engage in gentle exercise on a regular basis. C.Forest bathing is a magical way to explore nature. D.The ideal place to forest bathe is, well, in a forest. E.The scent of fallen leaves and ancient soil fills the air. F.Dr. Li says you could try spreading tree-based essential oils at home. G.His research showed forest bathing for that amount of time helped boost immunity. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15个小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给的四个选项(A、B、C和D)中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 In January, an abandoned(被抛弃的)dog wandered onto the property of Mr. Amos Lacey. A Beijing resident surnamed Zhang, 56 lives in Haidian District, decided to move as her rental contract 57 (near)its end. She recently put up large appliances such as refrigerators for sale on second- hand e-commerce platforms. “Buying and selling second-hand products is an environmentally friendly lifestyle,” Zhang said. “These products are 5 8 good quality and relatively inexpensive.” Zhang represents a growing number of young people in China who view eco-friendly consumption as a 5 9 (favor)choice. According to a report on China’s e-commerce green development, people born in the 1990s and 2000s exhibit a notably 6 0 (high)understanding of “green consumption” compared to other age groups. Xianyu, one of China’s largest second-hand goods trading platforms, has over 100 million users, with post-95s 61 (account)for almost half of its users, and they earned 62 average of 2,700 yuan each on Xianyu in 2023. My anger was focused - I was annoyed by my father’s direction and correction. One day I had a serious fight with my father. I saw him as controlling me and wanted to break free. He saw me as rebellious(叛逆的)and tried to exercise his authority. We both exploded in shouts. I stormed out of the house and took my bus to school, my mind racing with angry thoughts about my father. As I ran toward the classroom, suddenly I realized I didn’t have the assignment that was due: a thought card. This class was taught by Dr. Sidney Simon, who required that every Tuesday we bring in a card with our name and the date on it. As for what’s on the rest of the card, that’s up to us. We could write a thought, a feeling, a question or just plain anything and he would return the cards to us every Wednesday. Dr. Simon took the cards seriously, challenging us to think, and to think deeply. Just outside the classroom, I took a card from my notebook. Desperate(急切的)for something to write, I could only think about the fight I’d just had with my dad. “I am the son of an idiot(白痴)!” I wrote and then rushed into the room. I handed my card to Dr. Simon and took my seat. The moment I sat down, I panicked. What had I done? Oh, no! I didn’t mean to let that out. The next day in class, Dr. Simon began giving back the cards. I got mine with trembling hands. “What does the ‘son of an idiot’ do with the rest of his life?” it read. This simple question hit me like a ton of bricks. I had spent a lot of time hanging out in the student union cafeteria talking with other young men about the problems we had because of our parents. No one challenged anyone to take responsibility for themselves. We thought it was all our parents’ fault. 注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;2.请按如下格式作答。 Dr. Simon’s question got right to the heart of the issue: Whose problem is it?___________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________I didn’t go to the student union that day and went straight home.____________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ ____________________________________________________________________________________________ 2024 学年第二学期浙江省精诚联盟 3 月联考 高二年级英语学科参考答案 第一部分:听力(共两节,满分30分) 1-5BCBAA 6-10BCACA 11-15 CCABB 16-20 CBABC 第二部分 阅读理解(共两节,满分50分) 第一节(共15小题:每小题2.5分,满分37.5分) 21-23ABC 24-27BDDA 28-31 BACD 32-35CBDA 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 36-40 EDGAF 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节(共15个小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 41-45 BAACD46-50DCDBA51-55CCBAD 第二节 语法填空(10个小题;每小题1.5分,满分15分) 56.who 57.neared 58.of 59.favorable/ favourable 60.higher 61.accounting 62.an 63.categories 64.is expected 65.to expand 第四部分:写作(共两节,满分40分) 第一节(满分15分) My Views on Healthy Eating Hello, everyone! Today, I’d like to discuss the importance of healthy eating. Many teenagers today are consuming excessive amounts of fast food, sugary drinks and snacks, leading to issues like obesity and low energy levels. In my opinion, a balanced diet is crucial for our physical and mental well-being, as well as academic performance. To address this, I suggest adding more fruits, vegetables, and whole grains into our meals, which provide essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber that boost our immune system and energy. Additionally, replacing sugary drinks with water can also make a significant difference. Let’s take small but meaningful steps toward a healthier lifestyle today! At first, I felt defensive, still wrapped up in my anger towards my controlling father. But gradually, I began to see things differently. I realized that I had created a life in which I was not a central figure! Dr. Simon’s question challenged me to confront my own responsibility in the situation. It wasn’t about how terrible my father was or how much control he had over me; it was about what I would make of myself despite, or perhaps because of, my circumstances. Suddenly, my righteous anger toward my father and the blame game in the student union cafeteria felt shallow and childish. I didn’t go to the student union that day and went straight home. My father was sitting in the living room. The atmosphere was tense, the earlier conflict hanging in the air. After hesitating for a moment, I took a deep breath, sat down across from my father and began to speak, calmly. Instead of controlling, I saw him as concerned and caring. Surprisingly, there were no shouts or angry words throughout the conversation. Gradually, I noticed a shift not only in our relationship but also within myself. I went from constant anger to become someone who was energized, excited, purposeful and even joyful. And it all started with a simple question. 听力原文 Text 1 W: I’d like to cash this check. Text3 W: I have this huge essay that’s due tomorrow, and I haven’t even started it. M: You’re in luck. There’s supposed to be a big snowstorm tonight. M: I’ve been a police officer for thirty years. W: Thirty years? And you’ve had different types of assignments on the police force, I guess. M: Yeah, I’ve done everything from patrol to undercover work to detective work, and now I’m supervising investigations. W: Mr. Smith, I think most people would say that being a police officer is a very stressful job. Would you agree? M: Yes, but it depends on your assignment. I guess the biggest part of the stress is the fear factor, the fear of the unknown. W: What do you mean, Mr. Smith? M: Well, in patrol work, you don’t know from moment to moment who you are talking to or what their reaction is going to be to justify your presence. Let’s say, for example, a patrol officer stops someone for a traffic violation. It seems as though that would be a very low-stress situation. However, many police officers injured during routine traffic stops. Text 9 M: Excuse me, madam. W: Yes, sir. May I help you?
