The UK’s Queen Elizabeth II passed away at age 96 in Scotland. My home is on the other
sideoftheAtlanticOcean.ButI’mremindedthatmycountryispartoftheBritishCommonwealth
of Nations. Indeed, countries likeAustralia, New Zealand, and my home here in Canada are still
representedbyasharedBritishhistory.
In memory of the great Queen Elizabeth II, I’d like to share some information about her. In
1952, Queen Elizabeth II took power from King George VI. Until 2022, she’s had royal power
through 15 prime ministers’terms. Plus, she’s made overseas trips many times, including tours of
China in 1986. But the first time I knew the great woman was when my teacher told me a story
about her. He told me how the Queen trained to join the military during World War II. Stories
