哈尔滨把学生健康写进法律

Harbin Turns Students' Health into Law

In Harbin, a city in northeast China, a special law on students' physical and mental health took effect last November. It is the first local regulation in China that focuses on students' all-round development, and it clearly defines the duties of the government, schools, families, hospitals and social organisations.

Under the regulation, schools must give students one PE lesson every day, two long breaks and a 15-minute break, so that they do at least two hours of physical activity daily. Occupying PE lessons is strictly forbidden. In addition, head teachers are required to take part in a whole PE lesson once a week, and this is written into their annual reports. Every school has to publish its own sports plan so that the public can supervise it.

The results are encouraging. In 2025, the share of Harbin students with good physicalfitness reached 35.64 per cent, 10.39 percentage points higher than the previous year and above the provincial average. Through laws and daily routines, the city is turning health first from a slogan into a habit.

Industry Fair Displays China's Newest Machines

The China International Industry Fair opened in Shanghai on October 12 and will continue until October 16 at the National Exhibition and Convention Center. Over 3,200 companies from 24 countries and regions are attending the event, and the exhibition area reaches 310,000 square metres.
