Today, I’d like to talk about an occasion when I wore my best clothes. As Chinese people, we attach great importance to festivals, especially the Spring Festival. It’s our custom to get dressedin our finest new clothes for this celebration. Traditionally, everything is supposed to be brand new — new outfits, new socks, new shoes, and sometimes even new scarves and hats. This custom has been passed down from generation to generation, ever since ancient times.

Red is the go-to colour for this festival, and I follow this tradition every year. I usually wear a traditional red jacket. It looks a bit like a casual suit; the design is delicate and festive, which instantly lifts the mood. Apart from dressing myself up, I also pick out matching Chinese clothes for my children. We get dressed up from head to toe.

For me, putting on these clothes is more than just looking nice. It’s a way to embrace our cultural heritage and soak up the warm family atmosphere. We exchange best wishes for good fortune and happiness for the year ahead. What I love most is that this simple ritual keeps our traditions alive and helps us pass them down to the next generation.
