A Rewarding Community Service
To raise stuents’ awareness of environmental protection, our school organized a volunteer
activity in the neighboring Greenpark Community on the morning of December 6th.
At 8:30 am, more than 50 student volunteers gathered at the community center. Divided into
small groups, we set out to clean up the public areas, carefully collecting litter from sidewalks
and gardens. The highlight of the activity was our communication with residents. We distributed
leaflets on waste sorting and explained the benefits of recycling.
This event provided us a chance to contribute to the community. It strengthened our sense of
social responsibility and highlighted the importance of collective action for a greener environment.
It was a rewarding experience for all.
第二节 读后续写(25分)
Mark decided to take action. He started by moving his dad’s cigarettes from their usual spot and
replacing them with printed statistics about the harmful effects of smoking. He also hid the cigarette
lighters, thinking that even a small inconvenience might help. Moreover, he spent hours researching online,
finding stories of people who had successfully quit, hoping they would inspire his dad. Finally, he wrote a
heartfelt letter titled “Please Stop Smoking” and left it on his dad’s pillow.
The next day, Mark found a note from his dad on his bed. It read, “Son, I truly appreciate your
efforts. I know it’s bad for me and I want to stop too, but it’s tough.” Recognizing his dad’s struggle, Mark
shifted his approach from persuasion to partnership. They became a team, talking openly about triggers,
trying nicotine gum together, and marking progress on a calendar. As a united front, the journey became
easier. His dad’s consumption decreased, and each milestone, big or small, strengthened their shared
resolve. It was no longer just about quitting smoking, but about facing difficulties together as a family.听力原文
Text 1
W: Last night, we shared our dreams with each other in my family. My mom wants to be a famous
singer. And I really want to be a great scientist.
M: Wow, good thinking! As for me, I want to work in a zoo, taking care of the animals. (1)
Text 2
M: How much will it cost to repair the screen on my phone?
W: It’s beyond repair. A new screen for this old model would be around $200, I’m afraid. To be honest, it
might be cheaper to just purchase a new phone.
M: Well, you’re right. (2)
Text 3
M: I failed to complete my maths test in a set time. I didn’t think the questions were that hard, but
it took too long. (3)
W: Will the online test affect your overall score?
M: Yes, hopefully my teacher will allow me to take it again.
Text 4
W: Do you want to put a new bed sheet on, or maybe you could find a new blanket to lay on the bed?
M: I think I need to watch you do it first so I can learn, starting with the bed sheet.
W: OK. Watch closely. (4)
Text 5
M: I find it really hard to know which plastics we can recycle and which ones we can’t. It’s the same
when I’m at home.
W: I agree. I’ve been working at this factory since I left school and I still never know. (5) Let’s ask
the boss.
Text 6 (第6题为推断题)
W: Good morning, my name is Cathy Brown. I want to make an appointment to see Doctor Smith.
M: Yes, of course, Miss Brown. May I have your address, please?
W: It’s 34 East Park Road.
M: Yes, we have you on our records. Can you manage this afternoon at 2:00 p.m.?
W: I am afraid not, but I can manage tomorrow.
M: I am afraid Doctor Smith is not available tomorrow. He will be here the day after. That is
Thursday, May 25th. (7)
W: Fine.
M: Will 4:30 p.m. be all right? (7)
W: Well, I’m afraid not. But two hours later than that could work, (7) if you don’t mind.
M: That will be fine. (7) Thank you.Text 7
M: Have you seen what our neighbors have done with their garden?
W: No, I am busy cleaning the windows. (8) Why?
M: All the flowers at the end of the garden have been taken out. And in their place is a huge great
swimming pool.
W: That’s a shame about the flowers. I’m not sure I’m into swimming pools. When our baby is born,
(9) I don’t want a swimming pool in our garden. (10)
M: I’d prefer a goal and a football for him to play with me. (10)
W: I’d like a little nature area with a few fruit trees.
M: Oh well, we don’t need to worry about that for another three months!
Text 8
M: Have you read today’s newspaper? It says that technology is advancing so quickly. Soon people
will be living in outer space.
W: Do you think so? I love science-fiction films and they make me wonder what it would be like to
live on the Moon. (11) (12)
M: Well, it would be hard to breathe, and there is no food to eat there.
W: You know what I mean — with the help of technology, people can live inside special space
buildings, like in the films.
M: Oh, I see. They would need a continuous supply of oxygen and I’m not sure how easy that
would be. (12) But scientists are developing that kind of thing all the time.
W: What about water? There isn’t any on the Moon.
M: That’s true, but I know astronauts recycle water when on the International Space Station. (13)
W: Recycle the water? How?
M: Er…how do you think?
W: Ugh! You mean water that comes out of their bodies?
M: Ha-ha! Yes! It sounds horrible, but the water is treated.
W: How awful! My stomach is turning just thinking about it. (13) I think I’ll stay on the Earth!
Text 9 (第14题为总结题)
M: The weather forecast says there will be heavy rain on Friday. We can’t go for a picnic that day. We’ll
have to cancel it.
W: Have you noticed that the weather always turns bad when we plan an outdoor activity? (15) It
was the same last year when we planned a camping trip.
M: Yes, but the party we had indoors instead was even more fun.
W: That’s true — but what are we going to do instead of the picnic?
M: Let’s have it another day. How about Saturday? (15)
W: The forecast says it will still be raining. The sun isn’t due to arrive until the day after that. (15)
M: Well, let’s go then instead. (15)W: OK. (15) I’ll call Pete and Jenny and tell them we have changed the plan.
M: Will they still want to come that day?
W: Yes, they said they would be free for the whole weekend.
M: Do you want me to get the food and drinks? I’m planning to go to the supermarket later. (16)
W: That would be great. I’ll write a list of the things we’ll need. (16)
Text 10
It is easy to get confused by many different kinds of English spoken all over the world. Native
English speakers come from many different places, including America, England, Canada, Australia,
New Zealand, and even my home country — South Africa. (17) Although they all speak
English, they do not say everything in the same way.
There are a few important differences. Sometimes the pronunciation will be different. At other
times, the vocabulary will not be the same. If you learn these differences, you will have a much easier
time understanding native English speakers, no matter where they are from. (18)
People from Britain are known for speaking with very clear, polite English. (19) But this is not
true for all British people. In reality, mainly upper-class English people in the South speak this way.
(19)
British people use many of their own special words too. If you hear a British person cry out,
“I’m knackered(疲惫不堪的)!”, it means “I’m very tired!” (20) And when it is cold, British
people wear their “jumpers”, which is the British word for sweater.
