Our Teen Summer Spanish Program is two weeks of fun, educational excitement
that helps students learn Spanish fast. Our Spanish summer program allows our
students to learn from highly trained, certified teachers and be absorbed in the
language and the culture of Costa Rica.
Features include:
Intensive(强化的) daily Spanish classes;
Extracurricular classes in dance, cooking, music, and handiwork;
Outdoor activities including hiking, camping, rafting, and ziplining(高空滑索);
Homestay with a local Costa Rican family;
Volunteer work in needy neighborhoods.
Our Teaching Methods:
We are proud to use TPRS---Total Physical Response Storytelling---in our
curriculum. This innovative method uses strange and amusing stories to teach new
vocabulary, increase fluency, and get students involved by giving them the
opportunity to alter the details themselves. Because of the silliness, creativity, and
更多资料添加微信号:hiknow_007 淘宝搜索店铺:乐知课堂repetition involved, TPRS allows students to learn easily and remember information
effortlessly.
Memorizing vocabulary and listening to lectures on grammar are slow,
inefficient ways to learn a new language. The best way to truly learn and commit new
material to memory is through conversation. In our Spanish classes, students can
expect to speak up to 80% of each class. By speaking in the new language freely and
consistently, students can see progress faster because they are using the new grammar
and vocabulary that they have learned at the same time. This helps the brain
remember the new words and grammar structures for future use, making it much
easier to progress.
1. What does the program do?
A. It offers weekly Spanish classes
B. It focuses more on indoor activities
C. It gives teachers a chance to receive training
D. It provides activities about the Spanish culture
2. What is the best way to learn a language according to the text?
A. Memorizing a larger vocabulary
B. Speaking more in the new language.
C. Mastering more grammar structures
D. Writing stories to share with others
3. What is the purpose of the text?
A. To employ experienced Spanish teacher
B. To hire foreign volunteers for a program
C. To attract teen foreigners to a program
D. To introduce language learning methods

I was never very neat, while my roommate Kate was extremely organized. Each
of her objects had its place, but mine always hid somewhere. She even labeled(贴标

更多资料添加微信号:hiknow_007 淘宝搜索店铺:乐知课堂messier. She would push my dirty clothing over, and I would lay my books on her tidy
desk. We both got tired of each other.
War broke out one evening. Kate came into the room. Soon, I heard her
screaming, “Take your shoes away! Why under my bed!” Deafened, I saw my shoes
flying at me. I jumped to my feet and started yelling. She yelled back louder.
The room was filled with anger. We could not have stayed together for a single
minute but for a phone call. Kate answered it. From her end of the conversation, I
could tell right away her grandma was seriously ill. When she hung up, she quickly
crawled(爬) under her covers, crying. Obviously, that was something she should not
go through alone. All of a sudden, a warm feeling of sympathy(同情) rose up in my
heart.
Slowly, I collected the pencils, took back the books, made my bed, cleaned the
socks and swept the floor even on her side. I got so into my work that I even didn’t
notice Kate had sat up. She was watching, her tears dried. Then, she reached out her
hands to grasp mine. I looked up into her eyes. She smiled at me, “Thanks.”
Kate and I stayed roommates for the rest of the year. We didn’t always agree, but
we learned the key to living together: giving in, cleaning up and holding on.
4.What made Kate so angry one evening?
A. She couldn’t find her books.
B. She heard the author shouting loud.
C. She got the news that her grandma was ill.
D. She saw the author’s shoes beneath her bed.
5.The author cleaned up the room most probably because _____.
A. she was scared by Kate’s anger
B. she hated herself for being so messy
C. she wanted to show her care D. she was asked by Kate to do so

People in Japan tend to live longer and stay healthier in their later years, with an
increasing number of old people living alone. Japan is on a fast track to “ultra-age”
with people aged 65 or above accounting for 28 percent of its total population in
2019;it was 26.7 percent in 2017. On the other hand, the number of births in 2019
fell to its lowest (about 941,000) since records began in 1899.
Demand for care services for elderly people has increased. A shrinking (缩小)
working population means fewer able-bodied adults are available to look after the
elderly. State-provided facilities (设备)for the elderly are not enough, which
causes elderly people to turn to private ones but they are expensive.
The country will be short of 380,000 of health nurses by 2025. The government
has to turn to advanced robots to meet the shortage. A study found that using robots
encouraged one third of the people to become more active and independent. Yet there
is no robot that can provide the emotional support to the elderly.
Japan provides a case study for China, which is also faced with a fast aging
population. 17.23 million babies were born in China in 2019, about 630,000 fewer
than in 2018. People aged 60 accounted for 17.3 of China’s population in 2019. With
a shortage of elderly care facilities and unbalanced supply, China may find it hard to
deal with the rapidly increasing number of senior citizens.
To meet the challenge, the Chinese government should make policy changes,
which Japan is unwilling or unable to do or even consider. China should pay attention
to the signals its aging population is sending and take proper and timely action.
8. What do we learn about the old Japanese?
A. More and more old Japanese prefer to live on their own.
B. A lot of old Japanese have to continue working at old age.
C. Some old Japanese remain active with the help of robots.
更多资料添加微信号:hiknow_007 淘宝搜索店铺:乐知课堂D. Japanese aged 65 or above make up one third of its population.
9. What can we know about state-provided care facilities for the elderly in Japan?
A. They are expensive. B. They are inconvenient.
C. They are affordable. D. They are fashionable.
10. What do the Japanese do to deal with the shortage of health nurses?
A. They hire foreign health nurses.
B. They employ advanced robots.
C. They set up more nursing schools.
D. They train the elderly to tend themselves.
11. What is the main idea of the last two paragraph?
A. Japan has to take action to deal with the aging population.
B. Robots can’t provide emotional support to the elderly.
C. China is now faced with a fast aging population.
D. Japan’s aging population issue is a timely lesson for China.

The alarm sounds. Students swing their backpacks over their shoulder, board
the school bus, make their way to their homeroom and the bell rings—school is
back. But for more homes in America, school looks more like students waking up,
making their way to the dining room or home office, setting up laptops and learning
in the comfort of home.
Virtual(虚拟的) schooling, described as “a public school that offers only

How to relax your mind
Nowadays, people everywhere seem to find less and less time available to them,
and more and more things to achieve. It's quite common to find people running
around like headless chickens meeting deadlines that they create. One doesn't have to
live this way, in stress and struggle. 16
Breathing—I can't stress enough the importance of learning how to breathe
properly, and not only when you're stressed, but at all times that you can. Learning
how to breathe properly at all times is essential. You should try to deepen and
lengthen your breath to lower the stress level and promote relaxation. 17
Relaxing—We often think that just going to the gym and working out is the right
way to go to relax ourselves. 18 A good hard workout is good from time to time, but
you are still running at full steam ahead and not giving yourself time to relax. So
lighting some fragrant candles, taking a slow hot bath or a shower, or meditating for
even 10 minutes will do wonders to help you relax your mind and get out of the stress
zone.
Let it all out— 19 So calling or meeting up with a person who can listen to and
empathize with us is often a great way to relax. It's important that we don't go into
victim mode and get too negative. When we let out our frustrations, it should be done
in a positive manner, and with light heartedness, even joking about the stress we're
under.
20 — Probably one of the most difficult skills at first to master, but in the end one
of the most rewarding to learn in our fast-paced society is the attitude of gratitude. We
can do some gratitude list making right on the spot to get out of our heads and to be
away from all that we wish we had but don't, and to be thankful for all that we do
have. I swear learning how to do this will relax you in a way that will change your life
for a better one.
Hopefully this article helped you to find an answer to your question about how to
relax your mind from stress. Try these techniques and let us know, what works best
更多资料添加微信号:hiknow_007 淘宝搜索店铺:乐知课堂for you.
A. Be thankful to your friends.
B. Be grateful for what you have.
C. But this pace doesn't do much for our mind or stress levels.
D. You can either lie down on the floor or sit comfortably to relax yourself.
E. In this article we will present a few tips on how to relax your mind from
stress.
F. In addition, deeper breathing helps to get rid of harmful substances in your
lungs.
G. Sometimes we need to just let out our frustrations and worries to a close
friend.

第二节 (满分25分)
阅读下面文章,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事情节。
New Year was just around the corner. I was second grade then, 7 years old. One
day, on my way home from school, a lady gave me a piece of paper saying that the
neighborhood was asking people to give New Year presents to those who needed
them. When I got home, I showed my mother the paper and said that I wanted to take
part in this plan. My mother thought this was a very good idea and encouraged me to
spread kindness to others less fortunate than us. She said we would become
“Neighborhood Angels (天使)”.
Several days later, my mother said, “Get ready, and we will go.” “Where are we
更多资料添加微信号:hiknow_007 淘宝搜索店铺:乐知课堂going?” I asked my mother. “I will drive you to Boots Department Store to buy
something you think would be suitable for a neighborhood present.”, she replied. As
we went into the store, my mother gave me £20 to pay for the present. Then she said,
“I’ll see you outside in the car.” She left me alone to do the shopping. I was not used
to buying things on my own, as I had always been with one of my parents before.
Everything seemed very strange and confusing to me, but I carried on. I asked myself
what I should buy and for whom. An idea quickly occurred to me. There was a poor
boy called Ralph who lived in our neighborhood. I used to see him often without a
jacket during the freezing winter months, so I decided, then and there, to buy him a
warm jacket.
I looked at many jackets and eventually chose a heavy blue one. The price was just
within my spending limit. The assistant at the checkout asked, “Is this for someone?”,
as I paid for the jacket happily. I said it was, and she wished me a Happy New Year. I
felt as if I were a real “Neighborhood Angel”.
