There was once a Scottish king named Robert Bruce. He was at war with the King of England,
Edward. King Edward brought a large army into Scotland to take the land from Bruce.
Bruce fought against Edward’s army six times. But every time, his army was defeated and
forced to run away. At last, his soldiers ended up in separate places, and Bruce had to hide in the
woods and caves. He felt hopeless and thought about giving up.One day, while resting in a cave, Bruce saw a spider on the roof. The spider was working hard
to build its web. It tried to throw its line from one beam to another, but it failed six times. Bruce
watched closely as the spider kept trying.
The spider didn’t give up. On the seventh try, it succeeded. The line finally reached the other
beam. Seeing this, Bruce forgot his troubles and felt hopeful. “If the spider can try again and succeed,
so can I!” he said.
Bruce left the cave and called his soldiers back. He shared his plans and gave them hope. Soon,
he had an army of brave men ready to fight again. This time, Bruce led his soldiers into battle with
King Edward, and they won.

Interviewer: Hi everyone. Welcome to Student Radio. Today, I’m with Emily, who’s found a smart
way to make money at university by starting something cool. Emily, what do you do?
Emily: Hi! I don’t run a big business, but I earn enough to buy books and enjoy a meal out sometimes.
I walk dogs for people who can’t do it themselves.
Interviewer: How did you start?
Emily: My neighbor told me about a friend of hers who had just left hospital and wasn’t able to take
her dog out for its daily walk. I offered to help, and they insisted on paying me.
Interviewer: So, how did you turn this into a job?
Emily: After a few weeks, I realized it was a nice way to earn some cash and it fit well with my
university schedule. I put up ads in local stores to see if others were interested.
Interviewer: Did it work out?
Emily: It took some time, but then an elderly lady called me. We met in the park so she could see
how I handled her dog. She hired me for weekend walks. Actually, she was my first customer.
Interviewer: How's business now?
Emily: I walk four dogs now, all for older people. The dogs are well-trained and fun to walk.
Interviewer: That’s awesome! For our listeners, do you charge a set price?
Emily: I don’t have fixed prices. I know some older people can’t pay much, so we agree on a fair
amount when we meet. It works well for everyone.
