英语考试考查的是学生对英语语言的综合运用能力，包括语法、词汇、语篇逻辑和语感。

短文改错的设错主要集中在三类：多词、少词、错词。

1. 多词现象。多词通常出现在：冠词（如 a, an, the）、介词、助动词、连词、语义重复、行文逻辑。

例如：Suddenly I caught a sight of my teacher. → 删除 a。

2. 少词现象。少词主要出现在：冠词、介词、副词、助动词、不定式��号 to、连词。

例如：I came to understand that ___ was not easy to earn money. → that 后加 it。

3. 错词现象。错词主要涉及：冠词、介词、名词单复数、动词时态、非谓语动词、主谓一致、代词、连词、词形。

例如：He gave me an order worthy 15 million dollars. → worthy 改为 worth。

第一步：对全文宏观把握。

不要把短文改错看成孤立的句子，而应把它当作一篇小短文来理解。先通读全文，了解大意、时态和逻辑关系。在理解篇章的基础上逐句审读，先解决明显、拿得准的错误，缩小包围圈，有助于进一步理解全文。

第二步：从语法角度审查。

1. 查看时态是否一致。全文多为一般现在时，若某句突然出现过去时，要注意是否与上下文一致。

例：I was a member of our football team. → 应改为 am。

2. 查看主谓是否一致。

例：Anyone may borrow books, and it cost nothing. → cost 改为 costs。

3. 查指代是否一致。

例：The Smiths did his best to make me feel at home. → his 改为 their。

4. 查平行结构是否平行一致。由 and, or, but, either...or, neither...nor, not only...but also, as well as 连接的成分应保持结构一致。

例：...to meet me at the station and drove me home. → drove 改为 drive。

5. 查名词单复数是否一致。

例：We study quite a few subject. → subjects。

6. 查行文逻辑是否一致。

例：Most people can quickly get help from a doctor since they are ill. → since 改为 when / if。

第三步：掌握十大常见错误。

1. 形容词与副词误用。如 exciting / excited，hard / hardly，possible / possibly，比较级和最高级误用。

2. 名词单复数误用。several, many, various, different, a few, one of 后常用复数；every, each 后常用单数。

3. 代词误用。如 you / your，it's / its，it / they，one / ones，宾格 / 反身代词。

4. 介词误用、缺少或多余。如 in / on，to / for，instead / instead of，because / because of。

5. 时态错误。要有大局观，看上下文时态是否一致。

6. 连词误用。如 or / and，and / but，so / but，because 与 so 连用，though 与 but 连用。

7. 第三人称单数后动词形式错误。

8. 固定结构误用。如 so...that 误作 very...that，too...to 误作 very...to，as...as 误作 so...as。

9. 定语从句中关系词误用。

10. 常用词混淆。如 what / how，except / besides，any / some，anything / something。

第四步：验证答案。

改完后，重新通读全文，检查：句子是否通顺；时态是否一致；逻辑是否合理；修改处是否符合语法规则。

第五步：多读多背，增强语感。

英语学习的核心是培养语感。平时要大量阅读、背诵优秀范文和典型句子。语感形成后，即使不能立刻说出语法规则，也能凭直觉发现句子中的错误。
