Asteroid Spins Once in 1.63 Seconds

Scientists in China watched a small asteroid fall into Earth's atmosphere. The asteroid is called 2024 XA1. It is only about 0.55 metres across.

The team used a big telescope in Lijiang. They studied the light from the asteroid. They found that it spins once in just 1.63 seconds. That is faster than the old record of 2.58 seconds.

The fast spin makes a strong force. The force is stronger than the asteroid's own gravity. So the asteroid is a hard, solid rock, not a loose pile of stones. The scientists say the study can help protect Earth.

In the next three days, temperatures in the northwest, north and northeast will fall by 4 to 6 degrees. Some places may get about 10 degrees colder. In Yinchuan, the highest temperature will be only 9 degrees. Rain and snow will also come to many areas.

Along the east coast, winds will be strong, with gusts of 8 to 10. Experts say people should check the forecast, wear warm clothes and be careful on wet roads. The cold wave will affect a very large area.
