guesswork out of your exploration, thanks to its unique offering: a 360° view of mountain
peaks and their names from your current location, requiring no Internet connection. Plus, all
levels of hikers can use it, especially for finding new peaks to hike.
Added bonus: The app has some practical functions, which allow you to take some
breathtaking shots and then automatically (自动地) label each peak with its correct name.

3. N-Land
N-Land Digital is a Canadian nonprofit that helps expert hikers to learn more about their
local history and the Indigenous territories (土著领地).
By entering your address, a number of links will appear with the names of different
Indigenous nations. Clicking on those links, you will be taken to a page specifically about that
nation, language, or treaty, where you can view some sources, give feedback, and learn a little
more. You can even do this if you’re offline. This app is an ongoing project, and maps of new
territories are regularly added.
You’ll likely want to use this app together with another app such as A-Trails or V Ranger,
if you’re also seeking navigational help.

How I Turned to Be Optimistic
I began to grow up that winter night when my parents and I were returning from my aunt
's house, and my mother said that we might soon be leaving for America. We were on the bus
then. I was crying, and some people on the bus were turning around to look at me. I remember
that I could not bear the thought of never hearing again the radio program for school children to
which I listened every morning.
I do not remember myself crying for this reason again. In fact, I think I cried very little
when I was saying goodbye to my friends and relatives. When we were leaving I thought about
all the places I was going to see—the strange and magical places I had known only from books
and pictures. The country I was leaving never to come back was hardly in my head then.
The four years that followed taught me the importance of optimism, but the idea did not
come to me at once. For the first two years in New York I was really lost—having to study in
three schools as a result of family moves. I did not quite know what I was or what I should be.
Mother remarried, and things became even more complex for me. Some time passed before my
stepfather and I got used to each other. I was often sad, and saw no end to “the hard times. ”
My responsibilities in the family increased a lot since I knew English better than everyone
else at home. I wrote letters, filled out forms, translated at interviews with Immigration
officers, took my grandparents to the doctor and translated there, and even discussed telephone
bills with company representatives.
From my experiences I have learned one important rule: Almost all common troubles
eventually go away! Something good is certain to happen in the end when you do not give up,
and just wait a little! I believe that my life will turn out all right, even though it will not be that
easy.

Give yourself a test. Which way is the wind blowing? How many kinds of wildflowers can
be seen from your front door? If your awareness is as sharp as it could be, you’ll have no
trouble answering these questions.
Most of us observed much more as children than we do as adults. A child’s day is filled
with fascination, newness and wonder. Curiosity gave us all a natural awareness. But
differences that were sharp to us as children become unclear; we are numb(麻木的)to new
stimulation(刺激), new ideas. Relearning the art of seeing the world around us is quite simple,
although it takes practice and needs to break some bad habits.
The first step in awakening(唤醒) senses is to stop predicting what we are going to see
and feel before it happens. This blocks awareness. One cold night when I was hiking in the
Rocky Mountains with some students, I mentioned that we were going to cross a mountain
stream. The students began complaining about how cold it would be. We reached the stream,
and they unwillingly walked ahead. They were almost knee-deep when they realized it was a
hot spring. Later they all admitted they’d felt cold water at first.
Another block to awareness is the obsession(痴迷) many of us have with naming things. I
saw bird watchers who spotted a bird, immediately looked it up in field guides, and said, a
"ruby-crowned kinglet" and checked it off. They no longer paid attention to the bird and never
learned what it was doing.
The pressures of "time" and "destination" are further blocks to awareness. I encountered
many hikers who were headed to a distant camp-ground with just enough time to get there
before dark. It seldom occurred to them to wander a bit, to take a moment to see what’s around
them. I asked them what they’d seen. "Oh, a few birds," they said. They seemed to
concentrate on their destinations.
Nature seems to unfold to people who watch and wait. Next time you take a walk, no
matter where it is, take in all the sights, sounds and sensations. Wander in this frame of mind
and you will open a new dimension to your life.

show others what you can do. Writing a research paper is more than just a classroom exercise.
It is an experience in which learners will search out, understand and compose, forming the
basis of many skills applicable to both academic and nonacademic tasks. It is, in the fullest
sense, a discovering, an education. So, to produce a good research paper is both a useful and a
thoroughly satisfying experience!

Protect Endangered Animals”.In recent years, many wild animals have become
endangered. Sadly, human activities are the main reason why their numbers have
crashed sharply, such as destroying the natural environment, cutting down trees
and using chemicals that pollute the environment.
What we should realize is that protecting endangered animals is of great
significance. Animals play an important role in keeping the balance of nature. If
they disappear, humans will also face serious problems in the future.

and raise people’ s awareness, but also we should take part in some
