学学科科网网((北北京京))股股份份有有限限公公司司But,like most people,we underestimated the situation.Back in Sydney,it soon became
clear we wouldn’t be able to travel overseas for some time. The whole family missed Pip
terribly, but flights to Australia were slim, let alone the willingness to take a dog.
Luckily,we finally found a woman named Melissa, who ran a dog rescue centre. She was
willing to fly Pip across several countries to embrace us.After four flights and ten days in
quarantine, then came the day when we went to take her home.Excited as we were,a
wave of tension and anxiety flooded in us,as we were worried Pip would forget us.
So,on the way to the airport,we stopped at Ikea and bought some hot dogs to be sure she’d
come to us.We needn’t have bothered because as soon as Pip spotted us,she ran straight
to us with excitement. So thrilled was Pip that she kept running around us,barking and
wagging her tail cheerfully.Tears of joy welled up in our eyes:after five months,we had
our little girl back! We’ve since sold our boat and don’t plan on travelling again for some
time. While it is a great experience to see the world, nothing beats being at home with
our family.

others might hardly notice it.

W:Thanks,Professor Higgins.Thank you very much for coming to our show and bringing us

The mountain bongo antelope, one of the most endangered animals,is likely to continue
wandering in the wild for longer.Following 18 years of efforts, staff members from the Mount
Kenya Wildlife Conservancy reached a milestone this year. That is the first baby mountain bongo
antelope born in the wild.
Unique to this area, the last few decades has seen a dramatic decline in the number of the
mountain bongo, from an estimated population of 25,000 to less than 100.Its population decline
was mainly human-driven.Now the Conservancy is making efforts in partnership with the Kenya
government to help the mountain bongo through a new breeding and rewilding program.
The mountain bongo is only found in Kenya and its decline in this area therefore means its
decline in the world. That explains why taking immediate action here is so urgent. To enable the
animals to adapt to life in the wild, the Conservancy has taken a series of measures. With the first
stage of the adaptation being completed, the Conservancy has moved to the second stage which
involves introducing the antelopes to the wild.
