第二节(满分25分)
One Possible Version
Paragraph 1:
The next day, they found themselves facing the immediate problem of finding water.
The boys pushed through the bushes, and the search for water soon drained their energy.
They were about to give up when they heard a small sound, a splash of some sort. "Wait,
did you hear that?" Jay's voice sounded hopeful as they followed the faint sound of water.
"Me too! Let's keep going, " Kevin encouraged, sounding determined. They ran as fast as
they could and found a small stream-a lifeline in all the challenges. However, with time
passing by, more challenges emerged --limited food, frightful night filled with wilderness
sounds, and the uncertainty of survival in the wild. Their nerves were near the edge of
breaking down after long hours of uncertainty in the wilderness.
Paragraph 2:
On the third night, a distant engine sound broke the terrible stillness. "It must be my
dad!" Kevin yelled. Relief washed over the weary faces as they witnessed the approach of
a rugged vehicle, with headlights cutting through the darkness-a beacon of hope amidst the
peril. Kevin's dad stepped out to meet the group. The emotions that played across their
faces -disbelief, gratitude, and overwhelming joy-mirrored the shared trouble that had forged
a deep bond among them. The journey back was filled with survival stories and lessons
learned, deepening their understanding of the wilderness. Back home, Kevin's dad said,
学科网(北京)股份有限公司"Good thing you told me those directions, " teaching them the importance of informing
someone about plans. The experience turned into tales of courage and resilience, embedded
in their memories as lessons for a lifetime.

W: So, you started performing over thirty years ago.
M: Yes. I was born in Oakland, but was raised where I'm living now, up around
Grass Valley. I came back to San Francisco for college in 1964, but dropped out a year
later.
W: Why did you drop out of college?
M: My mother died of cancer. If she hadn't been ill, I probably would have stayed in
school. But luckily I got some on-the-job training later.
W: Let's get back to Raphael, your teacher. Tell me something about him.
M: When I met him first, I was in awe of him. Not only was he an incredible jazz
musician but he knew the tradition and played all the instruments, too. In any musical tra-
dition some people will get locked into a narrow view of the music, but he was open to
everything. I think that went into me. It led to my getting into a Chinese music group
called The Flowing Stream.

5. 50 by surface mail. It should be there in under two weeks. What's in it, anyway? Books
or DVDs?
M: Neither, some brochures for a colleague. How long will it take by airmail?
W: Airmail will take three days. I'll just check the price . . Oh, £ 6. 00. Not much
difference.
M: Oh, well, I'll send it by airmail then. Is it safe? I mean, this is quite important.
W: Well, if you want a signature when it's delivered, you can send it by International
Signed For. That's an extra £ 3. 50.
M:I see.
W: Or, for an extra £ 4. 50, you can send it by Air Sure. That means online tracking
for the whole journey. It's the most secure way to send it, and fastest, too.
M: Oh, right. I'll send it by the last way you said. The quickest.

Text 10
As a small child, I often wrote poems and short stories. My primary school teacher
was impressed and would read my works to my classmates. I felt proud of my talent, and
decided that one day I would become a famous writer. In high school, I continued to write
and even started my first novel. I also wrote for the school newspaper, and for several
years I had considered becoming a reporter. I began studying journalism and communication
at university. But within a few months, I changed my mind. I was so busy with my stud-
ies that I didn't have time to write fiction, and I really missed it. So, with the help of my
professor, I changed my major and gained a literature degree, and I was much happier. Af-
ter university, I got a job to write blogs for a small newspaper office. I continued my cre-
ative writing in my spare time and started to write science fiction. I often wondered if I'd
ever finish it! But I was determined to succeed. It took me eight years in total to finish the
fiction. And 2 months ago, I finally found a publisher for my book. It's due to be pub-
lished in 3 months! I can't wait and I'm so glad that I never give up.
